Embossed Gelatos

Hello Junkies,

Tricia here...I really wanted to join in with all the fun everone is having with this weeks try that technique.

I used a background stamp from Impression Obsession.  The saying is a clear stamp but I am not sure the name of the company.  I used Heidi Swap color shine on the flowers.

This is such a fun and easy technique...won't you play along?

Have a crafty day!!

Holly Brown: Embossed Gelatos - Dwell in Possibility

Hi Junkies!  It's Holly posting today and I'm sharing my Embossed Gelatos creation with you.  The Technique of the Week is Embossed Gelatos, and I love love love any excuse to play with my gelatos.  They are so much fun to color with!  I used three colors to create my background - Bubble Gum, Guava, and Lavender.  I wish you could see the wonderful shimmer on my card - it's so pretty.

I pulled out a wooden flower embellishment, and it occurred to me that I should try the gelatos on that.  So I scribbled all three of the same colors on the wooden flower and then sprayed it with a shimmer spray and let it dry.  It worked beautifully!  I love happy discoveries like that!  :-)

The background stamp is from Cornish Heritage Farms and the sentiment is from Rogue Redhead Designs.  The wooden flower is a Prima embellishment.  You can find the directions for the Embossed Gelatos technique in the April/May 2013 issue of Technique Junkies.  Try this technique for yourself and share with us on the TJ Yahoo group.  It's easy and fun - you'll love it!

A Different Point of View

Hello Junkies!
I recently joined a swap on the Oriental Stamp Art Yahoo Group themed Haiku Bunny.  I was in a creative mood and did not feel like making them all the same, so thought I would change each card by using various TJ techniques on the backgrounds.

I cut out the bunny image and placed it on this background made using Faux Handmade Paper from 6/08 newsletter. I added shimmer to the bunny by adding Spica glitter pen to the flowers and the neck 'scarf'. I also made Faux Twine using a TJ technique.

I used Alcohol Ink Splatters from April/May 2013 newsletter on this card and the DP has a gold in it, so I used a Y21 Copic marker on the script and a red Spica glitter pen on the flowers.

On this card- I dug into my TJ archive box : )  and pulled out a shimmery piece of pink and punched it as a border. Don't forget to label your techniques on the back so you can identify them at a later date!

My final card uses a simple Cuttlebug Highlight technique from the Oct 2008 Newsletter. The Poppy colored Washi paper is from my China Trip- and has a gorgeous gold shimmer in it.

I hope I have inspired you to open some of your older TJ techniques and see what you can create!

Bingo Blast Graduation

Hi Tricia here.  I made this graduation card for my cousins' daughter.

Her school colors are black and orange and I just love the way the Bingo Blast technique, from the TJ newsletter, goes with graduation cards.  It makes me feel like it's fireworks.  I used Distress Stains and new Distress paints.

The digital stamp is from Mo's digital pencil.  I cut her out using the out of the box technique.  I colored this image with copics.

I hope Miranda likes the card and thanks for stopping by to visit.

Have a crafty day!

Watered Crayons Technique

Hi everyone, Tricia here with a card that I made using the current newsletters "Watered Crayon" technique.

I just love how quick and easy it was to create a background for this cute image from Mo's Digital Pencil.  I colored her with copics and then using the Out of the Nestie Box technique attached her to the front of the card.

The papers are from Gina K Designs.  I used watercolor paper from Paper Temptress.  The watercolor crayons and the background stamp are from Stampin Up!

I hope you enjoy her as much as I enjoyed creating her.  Have a crafty day!

Holly Brown: Designer Paper Starburst Birthday Bear

Happy Friday, Junkies!  It's Holly posting today, and I've created a fun birthday card with the Technique of the Week - Designer Paper Starburst.  This technique is a great way to use up some old patterned papers as well as some smaller scraps that you can't seem to use for anything else.  I've colored this adorable birthday bear from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps with Copic markers and added a row of buttons to separate the starburst background from the birthday sentiment.  By using these blue and green colors, I can give this card to a little boy for his birthday.  I can also recreate this card using pinks and purples for a little girl or black and white colors for someone celebrating a milestone birthday.  :-)

Designer Paper Starburst Technique of the Week by Judy Jackson

This week's Technique of the Week is the Designer Paper Starburst.  This is a technique that is varied as the designer paper you use.   Our daughter is expecting a baby girl-- due May 24.   And she doesn't like the color pink.  What is a Gramma to do?  A baby girl card without being PINK?  So I used pink, and a light sage green.  I thought the Starburst technique would hide or diminish  the pink.

I think I came up with a card that is soft and feminine, and yet emphasized the "new baby" theme without shouting "PINK" -- at least I hope so.  I think she will agree. Gramma and Poppa can hardly wait to greet this new addition to our family!
Have you tried this technique yet?  I hope you will soon.
