Burnished Embossing and Butterflies by Judy Jackson

Hello to all of you on this day - from Judy Jackson. I hope it is a sunny day wherever you live! I wanted to create a little "sunshine" for myself with this card. I embossed the fancy swirl (Stampin' UP!) with silver Pearl embossing powder. Then I used the Burnished Embossing technique found on the SU Companion CD.

I stamped and embossed these lovely butterflies and the verse (all from Sweet and Sassy Stamps). I used markers to add color to the butterflies. Then I popped them up with pop dots.

I can hardly wait for long sunny summer days and butterflies in my garden!

I recently something on one of the blogs I follow about a fold over flap card that was cut with their Silhouette. I really wanted that cut file but alas, only in Silhouette form. Good day -- from Judy Jackson. Our snow is melting and perhaps it is foolish of me -- but i am dreaming of spring flowers! My "winter over" pansies are still blooming and i love that.

I have a lovely flower to share with you today -- and the technique is from the SU Stampin' Companion CD. I have used all Stampin' Up supplies -- except for the embroidery floss in the center of the button.

I always seem to need thank you note cards and this will fit the bill for some needed thank you card.

Emboss and sponge, stamp and sponge, use a punch, use a rubber stamp, and tie a ribbon! And then I have a lovely card! I hope you are able to carve out some stamping time for yourself! And i wonder -- have you ordered this newest CD - SU Stampin' Companion? If not why not? There are 70 techniques on this CD. Each technique will have step by step instructions with pictures! That makes it easy to follow along!

Chalked Emboss Valentine by Judy Jackson

Happy Monday from Judy Jackson!

We have snow on the ground in southern Pennsylvania and my grandchildren were so excited! They had a great time out in the snow. But everywhere you look in store you see signs of February and Valentine's Day! So it isn't too early to share a Valentine for your Monday inspiration.

I used the Chalked Emboss technique from the December/January Newsletter and then spritzed it with glimmer spray! I also used the Antique Glimmer technique on the tag! I used a movers and shapers die to cut out the Cupid. Cupid, the banner, and the tag are all adhered with foam dots. I sponged the edges of Cupid with black so he showed up against the red of the embossed layer. I added a few ribbons, and it was done!

Stamp credits go to Stampers Anonymous and Stampin' up!

The Chalked Emboss technique is such a fun technique -- and it gives such interesting results! Have you tried it yet? I am going to use it on some other Valentine's I need to make -- and I will share some of those with you!

Distress Ink Watercolored Hummingbird

Hello TJ'ers! Happy weekend to all of you from me, Kathie McGuire.

The card I'm sharing today features the Distress Ink Watercolor technique from the 12/11 Technique Junkies newsletter. The navy blue background layer is pre-purchased flocked paper layered on top of gold and then red cardstock. I used my Janome Sew Mini sewing machine to zig zag some gold thread around the edges for interest.

The stamp images are from Michael Strong Stamps. I stamped the alphabet letters, cut them out, and attached them to the card with foam mounting tape. I added a few little gold gems on each of the letters. The hummingbird image is called Cloisonne Hummingbird. I stamped and heat embossed the image with gold embossing powder. This is where the Distress Ink came in! I love how easy it is to blend and coloring using the "secret" ingredient!

I hope you have a chance to dig out some supplies and get inky this weekend. And be sure to make time to try the Distress Ink Watercolor technique. It's great fun!

Ann Clack here! I must say that this is one FUN technique. I really just wanted to stay in my Stamp Hole and play, play, play!! I used method two for this card. I had to really hunt for current SU stamps but I did it! Hope you enjoy!! I was trying to stay with the SU only so didn't add any embellishments like brads and ribbon.......but I really wanted to!!

Good morning everyone from Judy Jackson! Isn't this a fine day to have a mini blog hop? Today some members of the Technique Junkie Design Team will feature a few cards to show off the BRAND NEW SU Companion CD!

I love SU stamps and materials! There are a lot of wonderful stamp companies out there is the crafting world - some of whom advertise in the Technique Junkie newsletter! A Stamper can love more than one stamp company --right?!?

My card features the Scallop Button Border technique and every thing used to make this card is current in the current year's SU! Big Idea and Catalog book. I used the Inspired by Nature stamp set; Old Olive, Basic Blcak, and Cherry Cobbler card stock; First Edition DSP; Designer Buttons; Versamark; markers; ink pads; clear embossing powder;stamping dimensionals; and seam binding ribbon.

Pat Huntoon will be shipping out the SU Companion CDs on Friday January 13 -- a lucky day after all! Some of my local stamping buddies have already ordered their CD! I know they will love it! If you haven't ordered yours yet -- well why are you waiting?

Distress Ink Watercoloring

Hello My TJ Friends! Kathie McGuire here today with a project from the Dec/2011-Jan/2012 Technique Junkie newsletter.

This card features the Distress Ink Watercolor technique. I used it to color behind the Michael Strong Stamps image which was stamped with Versamark ink and embossed with white embossing powder.

The background of the card is nothing more than melted crayons. I made the background first, then used various colors of Distress Inks to match the crayon colors.

A Snowy Day by Judy Jackson

Happy Day after Christmas Fellow Stampers from Judy Jackson! I have another Picture Perfect technique card to share with you.

Has it snowed much where you are? Snow glistens all winter long -- no matter if it is before Christmas or after. Falling snow is so pretty -- driving in it is not so much fun! The embossed snowflake panel was also sprayed with glimmer spray and so was the picture!

The embellishment word "snow" was created with alphabet stickers and puffy resin stickers to stick on top of each letter.

Each alphabet embellishment was then attached to the panel with a white brad. The snow flakes at the edge are punched with a Martha Stewart border punch. I love to use this verse stamp from Stampin' Up with snow scenes as it just fits so well. I am glad we now live in an area where winter only "calls us" mainly in January and February.

Flap card for Hanukkah

Hetty here with a special post today,

for we light the first candle on the Menorah for Hanukkah.

The other project is the dreidel and you can find out

all about this on my CraftChaos Blog.

Paper and stamps for this project are all by Club Scrap.

This card is closed by a little velcro circle.

This is the inside of the card.

The sentiment is by Club Scrap.

A close up of the rosette decoration with the Menorah

(also by Clyb Scrap). In de middle I added a

piece of thin gold wire around the Menorah and added some beads.

I made the curl ends around a tooth pick.

Hello TJ Girlfriends (guys, too if you're out there)~Kathie McGuire here today with a Decorated Clips project from the 3D and Fun Folds CD. Wait, what? Don't I make anything else besides these clips? Truth is, no--not much. Well, not as much as I make these because they are so adorable, so useful, and such a fantastic personal gift.

This small assortment is for a fellow-makeup and fragrance lover, my Avon lady. She loves pink, so I chose a background paper with pink in it along with a few of the other colors which would match the buttons. I found these buttons from an online store called Shelly's Buttons and More.The cosmetic theme was perfect for her, so with very little effort, I had a coordinated, personalized gift for my wonderful friend.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing a few more of these Decorated Clips. Have you tried them? I have to warn you, once you begin making them, it's hard to turn back. LOL

This project is called tag folded booklet.

You can make all kinds of fun projects with this

and even add photo's. It is also a wonderful gift.

For my project I used papers from Club Scrap.

The stamps are from Club Scrap and Crafty Individuals.

Here you see all the tags.

I used kraft colored paper and

stamped with black ink.

When colored with pencils,

it gives the tag a very vintage look.

Picture Perfect Christmas Card by Judy Jackson

Good day from Judy Jackson! We are well into the Christmas season and I still haven't mailed my Christmas cards! But they are all addressed and waiting for my hubby to finish the annual Christmas letter. I had carpal tunnel on the both wrists this season so hand stamped cards are few and far between for Christmas this year! But if I were to need more cards this would be my "go to technique!" This is a simple one that you could mass produce easily!

My kids and now my grandchildren look forward to Santa on the firetruck handing out candy canes each Christmas season. This scene certainly depicts the anticipation and the joy of families enjoying this same tradition. I wonder how many communities have this traditional scene every year?

I embossed the card stock under the picture, highlighted the embossed areas with blue ink, and then applied glimmer spray over the snowflakes. After all, snow should glisten don't you think? The Merry Christmas stamp is from Stampin' Up!

I hope you all have a blessed and Merry Christmas this year! May you get most of the stamping and scrapping supplies you are wishing for! I will be happy for a gift certificate!

Christmas Tag

Hello there TJ Friends from Kathie McGuire. I hope my Christmas tag project will inspire you to create one for yourself or someone else on your holiday list.

My tag uses the technique "Cuttlebug Glow" from the 10/07 TJ Newsletter. It features the Cloisonne Christmas Trees. I stamped them onto maroon card stock and embossed them with PSX Brass Embossing Powder. I loved being able to cut them out in seconds with the coordinating Christmas Tree Metal Dies. Last, I added some glitz with Stickles Gold.

The "snow" is white Flower Soft. At the top of the tag, please notice the Strong Stamps Triangle stamp from the Cloisonne Accents stamp set. When I had it securely in place, I used a Crop-A-Dile to set a brass eyelet to thread the fibers through. The last elements are a bit of gold cord and a brass snowflake from a pile of Christmas doo-dads in my stash.

Faux Designer Paper 2 ~~ by Judy Jackson

This is a totally different way to create Faux Designer paper than the the original technique -- which I love -- and I think this newer technique creates just as lovely Faux Designer Paper!

I used stamps from the following companies: Stampers Anonymous, Stampin' Up, Sweet and Sassy Stamps, and Judikins.

Think about the stamps you own -- don't you have some lovely stamps you could use to create some Faux Designer Paper? Be sure and show us what you have done!

I just love this little mouse, don't you? I have a picture of each side as well as an angle picture for you. Each side is like a little card all of its own. They were all colored with Copic markers.

Teabag Holder

Hello Junkies,

Hetty here with a lovely

project from the new

3D and Fun Folds CD.

And if you do not already have it, it is

a lovely gift with over 70 projects

for gifts for your friends or keep for yourself.

This time I made the Double Teabagholder.

I thought it would make a nice hostess gift

or you could give it to everyone at the

table for tea and desert.

I made this teabagholder with Club Scrap papers and stamps.

They are all from the Comfort Zone kit.

For the turkey I used the SU! owl punch and a few others

to complete this project. The rosette on the back is

made with a Tim Holtz alterations die. I added some dark

brown distress ink and sprayed some marshmellow

glimmermist on it.

Here you can see the inside of the teabagholder.

I can asure you, it is a fairly easy project.

Here in The Netherlands, we do not

celebrate Thanksgiving, but I want to say I am

thankful to have all of you as my online stampingfriends.

Home Frame - Using Morphed Tag Title from Scrapbook CD

This is Judy Jackson sharing this project. I apologize for the flash shine in the picture - I tried several ways to take the picture and this one was the best. :(

I have been in "stamping withdrawal" for a few weeks. I had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand the end of October -- and I am definitely right handed! Very little ambidextrous here! That was a real shock that I wasn't going to be allowed to stamp due to the pressure of the block on the palm of the hand. That was a bummer let me tell you! However, it is healing well and I am very thankful for that. I have the left hand done on November 30 but that shouldn't affect stamping at all! I do not hold a block in my left hand!

Our daughter and son-in-law (and our 3 young granddaughters) are buying their very first home! After renting for years this is a big move for them. In October I saw a sign in a store with this sentiment and my husband and I wanted to give them a housewarming gift with this sentiment. I wanted to make it "myself" and of course craft it! Waiting to make the sign was hard until the surgeon said I could stamp "a little bit." (Very few hand made Christmas cards this year.)

I used grunge board to cut out the letters in HOME, printed the sentiment on vellum, stamped the verses on the tags (all Stampers Anonymous) - which all have to do with "love" and "home," and pulled out all the technique stops for this project. The tags are a morphed idea form the Tag Title technique from the TJ Scrapbooking CD. I used Distress Stains on the letters, on the mat board, and used the Antique Glimmer technique to distress the background paper. I used both the TJ Smooched Metal technique and acrylic paint to add color the metal embellishments, lots of glimmer spray here and there. I used a fair amount of ribbon and lace - coloring the ribbon and lace with Distress Inks and distress Stains.

I am very pleased with the results -- and I hope they are too!

Faux Washi and Distress Watercolor Card and Bookmark

Hello My TJ Friends!

Kathie McGuire here with you today on your stamping Saturday.

Today I'm sharing a project I made with some new Strong Stamps designs.I began my card design by making a Faux Washi (8-11 TJ newsletter) and attaching it to my base card. Since Faux Washi's vary in the end results, I made the background first and then selected coordinating Distress Inks to match when I painted the bookmark.

The bookmark was stamped with white embossing powder on watercolor paper and heat set. Then, I used the Distress Watercolor technique (coming up in the 12-11 TJ newsletter) to color it to match.

I added a few fibers to it, then used a Stampin' Up Word Window punch for the slot the bookmark fit into.

Ahh, November -- a time to remember to give thanks! I used these clear stamps from Sweet and Sassy Stamps to add that "thankful" tone to this card. The medallion stamp is from Two Nancys Art Stamps.

As the name of the technique indicates, I used Copic markers to add color to the focal image. Using the Copics with this technique give the image a softer appearance.

Ann's gift card boxes

Ann Clack here! I made a bunch of the gift card boxes from the recent 3-D and Fancy Folds CD. What an awesome CD. The boxes were loved by many at my sale this weekend! They were fast to make as well. I had fun decorating the tops differently. The picture below was my first time make the 'flower' with ribbon on an adhesive disk. I didn't have the goober circles so I made my own with the ultra sticky double sided tape that I purchase from the man who makes our car club trophies. Fun, Fun!

Chalk Resist by Judy Jackson

Good morning from Judy Jackson! I hope you are having a great fall day. I love the colors of Fall, the crispness of apples in the fall,. the tartness of freshly pressed apple cider, and --- just the general feeling of Fall. What I don't like about Fall is that it precedes Winter and snow! But Spring does come!

I challenged myself to use the same stamp set with this technique -- using different colors -- and create two different cards. The stamps are from Stampin' Up and the background is from Cornish Heritage Farms. On the second card I did use one more from a different Stampin' Up set. I even used the same little embossing folder! I do like this technique and I have discovered that you do need to use a softer mid-tone (not pale) ink color on the background stamp.

Such a stunning result, and you don't need alot of supplies to do it, either! I think I will make a bunch of these for my Christmas cards (I make 70 or so cards; and I get bored making all of the same kind, so it is fun to have a variety!). That is assuming, of course, that we still have a Post Office by Christmas (my worst nightmare, of course).

Hello Dear TJ Friends~

It's me, Kathie McGuire, here once again with some Decorative Clips! (Note: Making these is addictive--they are soooo much fun to do.) After making six of them for a friend, I thought a coordinating card might be a nice addition to the gift. I stamped the image from Stampin' Up! onto white cardstock and backed it with some black cardstock.

You can find this fabulous project on the 3D and Fancy Folds CD. These are easy to make and are great for gift-giving year 'round!

October is Breast Cancer Awereness Month

and so this card is in honour of this.

The image is by Create with TLC and it

is a freebie if you go HERE.

I made this card into an easel card (you find the instructions

on the Fancy Fold and Motion Paper Craft CD)

and used the "Double Emboss & Cut" technique.

This you can find on the Oct/Nov 2011 Newsletter.

The images are printed on Kraft paper and colored with pencils.

The fun thing with digital stamps is that you can use them any

size you want and even mirror them.

A Confession with Negative Positive Technique by Judy Jackson

Howdy from Judy Jackson. I miss spring and summer already but here it is fall by the time you read this! Fall is a time to be thankful -- well everyday as well! And there I was in my craft/stamp room working away on cards for the October-November Technique Junkie newsletter. The Negative-Positive technique is a fun one to do - and so is deciding which stamps you have that will lend itself to this technique. I had decided to use a house mouse stamp i have for a card with this technique.

I was coloring away with my Copic markers on my chosen image -- and looked at my coloring and that is nice, I think I am finished and ready to assemble my card. Oops. I colored the entire image and I was supposed to cut it in half and only color one side -- hence the Negative-Positive technique. And so now what?

One of the things I have heard many times and have told fellow stampers is, "There are no mistakes in stamping, but only opportunities for creative fixing!" I was not going to put my colored image for a later card and start over! So I stamped another house mouse image, cut it out, placed one cut out image on top of the other and made any necessary trimming. Then I proceed to follow the rest of the instructions for the Negative-Positive technique and assembled two cards instead of one!

This house mouse stamp is from Stamparosa and the words are form Stampin' Up.

Ann's lesson

Ann Clack here with a lesson for all of you! I USED to have a ton of fun making backgrounds from the newsletter and just throwing them into the background 'box' where I could use them later. Well....I USED to never make any notations on the piece to tell me what technique it was. Well......I don't do that anymore BUT the two cards below were just asking to use a couple of background pieces that I had made in my "never mark it" era. So........the first with the Halloween girl is made with Black glossy paper and Luminarts paints. The second with the Pumpkin man is quite dark orange and you only get a hint of the metallic when you move the card. I photographed it at an angle so you could see some of that metallic. It could be dabbed shimmers.

So.......I hope you have all learned your lesson and mark your pieces!! HA!

Guitar~Wisped Frames

Hello Technique Junkies Friends! Kathie McGuire here on another one of your stamping Saturdays to share a card I made recently.

I used the Wisped Frames technique from the Feb/March 2010 newsletter on my main image. The guitar image is unknown, as it's an unmounted image from a stamp show purchase long ago and I didn't mark the rubber. I stamped it with VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with PSX Gold embossing powder. I cut the image with a Spellbinders die, then used the Wisped Frame technique to make it a little more interesting.

The gold paper was Cuttlebug'd; image on the inside is Stampin'Up!

This week, our technique is: Acetate and Pearl Ex from the October 2004 edition. As the mother of five wee ones, I tend to shy away from any kind of technique that results in a mess---I already have enough of those on my hands! I wouldn't exactly say this is messy.......but, it could be! The results, however, are well worth some stray Pearl Ex on the table! My main image is from I Brake For Stamps. Apple Time

Hello Stampers,

Hetty here with some apples.

This time of the year is apple time and I have this cute digital stamp

from Create with TLC and

used it for some caramel apple cards

and for the Jewish New Year (which - by the way is

tomorrow). You find the card and the template for these

cards on my own blog: Craftchaos.

For this card I used some kraft colored cardstock, red paper, buttons

and my swirl embossingfolder.

I cut the card according the template (see HERE) and used the

cuttlebug highlight technique - Oct/Nov 2008 - with some wild honey distress ink.

To give it that creamy caramel look, I embossed it all with

honey pearl embossing powder,

Here a close up of the digital image, that is colored

with copic markers. In the heart of the clock

I added some metal findings of the Tim Holtz collection.

40th Birthday - by Judy Jackson

Greetings from Judy Jackson! Our son-in-law turns 40 today! So that deserved a special card to mark this milestone year.

The focal image is from River City Rubber Works. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up. The image is colored with Copic markers.

Silly me put the numerals on under the sentiment "look who's turning..." and then I couldn't punch it out to be sure and get it "square." So I tried using the paper trimmer. Nope, that didn't square corners either so I then decided to just cut it an angle and I thought that will add some interest!

I tried to give the card a old vintage feel and I think I succeeded!

We celebrated together last Sunday but today is the really big day! So I hope it is a wonderful day for him! He is a great son-in-law and we love him a lot!

Vellum Sentiments by Judy Jackson

Good day from Judy Jackson.

Bold stamps colored with bold colors work the best for this technique. Often markers work the very best because of their frequent intense hues. You need to choose to stamp with a bold image, and then you need to decide where over the image is going to be the best place to place your sentiment. This image is not large but I think I found the right place for the sentiment don't you?

I really like this stamp but it is certainly not within my usual "style." Stamp credits belong to Stamp Impressions and Sweet and Sassy Stamps. But it works very well for certain techniques and style of of cards. I think this is one of them! Have you tried this technique? It is fun!

Another Splash and Stick by Judy Jackson

Here is another card using this technique (from August 2010) -- from Judy Jackson. I didn't write or film the technique and I can only claim I made this card (and others!).

As I used the inks to splash around on the glossy card stock, I decided the colors were right for the parrot stickers. I added a few punched and die cut images and stamps to finish the card.

The parrot is unique - never going to be one exactly like him! -- and so are each one of us!

Stamps are from Stampin' Up and the sticker from Outlines.

Kathie McGuire here today to share a card I made using the Faux Washi technique from the 8/11 Technique Junkie newsletter. The background is the Faux Washi; the image panel is a new release from Strong Stamps--it's from the set Cloisonne' Silhouette Panels .

I stamped the image onto watercolorpaper with VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with white pearl embossing powder. I painted it with Distress inks.

Apples for the Jewish New Year

Hello Stampers!

Hetty here with two card ideas for the Jewish New Year.

For both cards I used the "color-sandwich"- technique

from newsletter June/July 2011

One of the symbols you see on many of the Jewish cards is an apple.

We eat a sweet apple with honey to wish each other a very sweet year.

This weekend I was at the StempelMekka in Hagen, Germany. A big stamp show

and I met Judy from Judikins and found she had this sweet apple I just had to have

for my New Year cards.

The color sandwich technique was perfect for the card I wanted to make.

The apple is from their new Posh Impressions range of stamps

and I already had the bee. So this was a great combination.

I added some glossy accent to the apples to make it look like

the honey drops of the aplles.

The Hebrew sentiment translates to: A happy and prosperous year

and is embossed with gold embossing powder.

For the second card I used an image by Create with TLC

and the apple by Judikins. The are hjust beautiful together.

You might wonder about the numeber on the apples: 5772.

Well, that is the numeral of the new Jewish Year.

For the inside of my cards I used this fun stamp

that is from Zum Gali Gali.

Splash and Stick by Judy Jackson

Good day from Judy Jackson! We have been enjoying sunshine in our area -- which is a very welcome relief from all the rain and flooding we had last week. In our area, it was better than it was over in Lancaster county and north of us in Pennsylvania. We had 12 inches of rain in just about 2 days and that is just too much. Other days last week, it drizzled and rained off and on.

Last Saturday I was able to go the ScrapStampArt rubber stamp convention in Westminster, MD. I enjoy that stamp show because they have different vendors than the Heirloom show. Heirloom will be in my town in October -- and alas I won't be there.

At the booth for the Outlines company I discovered that they had a special on their Outline stickers. I immediately remembered the Splash and Stick technique from August 2010! I bought 3 sheets of stickers which were very different from each other. This is a very cool technique with interesting results! You will see more cards using this technique!

I used the card sketch from Techno Stamper by Mary Jo Price Williams. I don't always use the sketch but today I did. I used my own cloud stencil to sponge the clouds behind the giraffe. The Get Well Wishes stamp is the only stamp on the card and it is from Stampin' Up.

Collaged Circles by Judy Jackson

This is another Collaged Circles technique post by Judy Jackson.

Aren't these little girls cute as they have fun on another warm summer day? Can't you just smell these flowers blooming on the bush?

Watercolor pencils add the coloring to this Stampin' Up stamp -- retired for years now but I still use this stamp quite a bit!

The colors in the circles coordinate nicely with the image colors.

Are your hands and fingers inky today? If not then let hands and fingers feel some stamps and ink today!

Antique Big Hammer

Ann Clack here with a quick suggestion for you. Do you often have a card that needs to be done in a hurry? I often do!! I have this box of pre-made backgrounds......you know......you dig out all your supplies to make a great technique and you just make a gajillion of them! Well, that stash is a wonderful place to start when you are making a quick card. Your card will look like it took more time than it really did. Today's card used two TJ techniques. The first (for the flowers) is the Big Shot Hammer. The second is Antique Wallpaper. So........next time you dig out all the supplies to work on a technique, make up lots of them in lots of different colors for those 'quick' card times.

Good Mornin' Nancy Dawson here with our Try that Technique Thursday. Jane Bosi and I took off last week so there is no winner to announce. We are really hoping with school back in session and things returning to a pseudo-routine we will have lots of players this week!

Our technique is from the June/July 2010 Technique Junkie Newsletter. This one is the Whimsical Background done with dye inks. The newsletter has this technique done this way and a variation done with Copic Markers! Both are equally beautiful.

By adding the white gel pen your background image comes to life! So ladies go get inky and play along. I would love to see your creations! Have a great day and now it's time to play!

Faux Washi Paper and Eggplant Dragonfly

Hello TJ Friends and Visitors!

Kathie McGuire here to share a project with you with a technique I usedfrom the 8/11 Technique Junkies newsletter called "Faux Washi Paper."

Today's card features the Cloisonne Dragonfly stamp, a long time favorite of image of mine from Strong Stamps.

I made the background first, then decided how I wanted to make the dragonfly. I thought copper embossing powder on eggplant cardstock would be the perfect combination. I wanted to embellish the dragonfly, so I chose to use some irridescent beads which I attached to the dragonfly with Crystal Effects. I carefully cut between the wings with sharp scissors, then gently curled the wings by pulling them between my finger and thumb. I attached the dragonfly's body to the card with two sided foam mounting tape. I also used some larger copper beads to decorate the corner of the cards. They were also attached with Crystal Effects.

TIP: Lastly--and most importantly--I would like to share a very fun embellishment I discovered using a few years ago. Behind the dragonfly, please notice a copper colored material which looks like a type of shred.

What the material is: it's a metal pot scrubber which I purchased at the dollar store--three of them in one package (what a deal!). I cut into the scrubber near the top with a regular pair of scissors, and then gently pulled the material as it began to "unravel" from the scrubber. When I had enough, I simply cut the length. To "tame" this big wad of copper, just roll it into a ball in your hands until it's the size you want. You can attach the material to the base card with just about any kind of clear drying adhesive--I used my favorite fabric glue, Fabri-Tac. Since the material is wadded up into a ball, glue is necessary in only a few places. To ensure attachment, I placed Fabri-Tac in a few places on underside of the dragonfly and then weighted it down on top of the metal material with a few punches until it dried.

It Takes Two by Judy Jackson

Hello to all of you from Judy Jackson.

Oh my, summer seems to be whizzing past! I wish summer would last 8 months instead of such a short period of time! I just love the warmth and the sunshine. I do not like the cold temperatures of deep winter.

I have quite a few background stamps so this technique was a fun one for me to use. I really the way it looks -- adds a little distressed look and yet it is not the typical distressed look! I painted the focal image with Twinkling H2Os.

A Vist from the Past - Smooched Metal by Judy Jackson

Hello from Judy Jackson. There I was just whiling away the time in front of my computer watching different videos on techniquies from the summer CHA. A pretty good way to wait for the storm to be over, right? Fortunately, we never lost power due to Hurricane Irene- although the lights have been flickering a bit tonight. There was this video tutorial on making jewelry with your Hot Pot. I watched it several times and every time the little wheels in my brain kept turning. Hmmm --- I have a Hot Pot sitting in the drawer and it is very, very lonely! I put it on my "wish list" for Christmas one year and got it! However, I have never used it. But I have used it this weekend!

I didn't even own any of the jewelry findings the demo artist was using and I thought what can I use that I already own in my stash? Surely there is something! And there was.

But I didn't want just plain metal pieces -- I wanted them to be the colors I wanted them to be! So I brought out my bottles of Smooch Paint and painted the metal flowers. After I wrapped the slide frame with the metal tape, I painted the Smooch Paint on that too and then added some alcohol inks as well. It was fun.

Now I have to decide how I will hand this new pendant I have. And I got so excited about this whole process I have ordered some different jewelry findings and I will make some Christmas presents!

So I took this older technique of Smooched Metal from the October/November 2010 Technique Junkie newsletter and brought it to a whole new level -- and it was fun! And it is useful as well.

Tie Dyed Filters

Hi everyone, Donna here with today's post, which I almost forgot...again! Well, better late than never, I always say!

Today I'm sharing an ATC that I made using the Tie Dyed Filters technique from December 2003. Talk about an oldie but goodie! I made up a bunch of these and had so much fun doing it. For paint, I just used a cheapo set of Prang watercolors, which for the price have very vivid, transparent colors. The stamps I used are from Outlines and Studio G, and I hand printed the words.
