TRY THAT TECHNIQUE: Textured Tape

Hi, it's Beth here with TRY THAT TECHNIQUE. This week Diana Enns and I challenged each other to use the Textured Tape technique from the October 2005 issue.

It's an old technique, but one I think should come out again because it is so easy and pretty.

TRY THAT TECHNIQUE: Ink Wash

Hi, it's Beth here with this week's TRY THAT TECHNIQUE challenge. This week Diana Enns and I challenged each other to use the Ink Wash technique from the April 2007 issue. So pull out your issue and join us this week.

After I stamped out my main image, I stamped out the flowers three more times, and layered them up. It's all about the layers for me.

Sanded Core' dinations with Judy Jackson

There I was in AC Moore -- shopping for other things -- and I spotted some new Core'dinations background paper in single sheets. This sheet was already embossed with butterflies -- and it called out to me, "Buy me, buy me!" So like any good stamper/shopper, of course I did! How could I resist it?

After I got it home, it sat on a shelf for a while -- and I pondered how I would use it. I knew of course, I would use the Sanded Core' dinations technique from the April 2010 Technique Junkie newsletter. The question really was what else will I do with this technique on a card!

So of course I sanded it, then carefully sponged some dark red ink over the embossed images to make them pop a bit more. I used a butterfly stamp from Heather's Stamping Haven in Nepean, Ontario and butterfly verse I really like. They are stamped on vellum. I embossed both in white embossing powder -- and against the white of the Core'dinations paper the verse didn't show up very well so I sponged some red on the back side of the vellum until the verse was readable. I used a red marker on the back side of the vellum to add color to the butterflies. I attached the vellum using my Xyron machine. I really like how you can see the embossed butterflies through the vellum on the top layer. There is a layer of shimmery metallic red paper behind the Core' dination paper. You can purchase this paper from Paper Temptress. It is called Stardreams Ruby and it is text weight. The ribbon and pearl accent ties it all together.

Hetty has Worn Wallpaper

With all the Christmas in July challenges going on, I contribute with my design and hope to give you some inspiration with my number calendar card. This is one I design every year as you can see HERE (some older designs and ideas). I have had already some requests for the new template and when it would be  ready, well here it is (you save it to your computer with the right mouse click and you can print it any size you like).

This card is made with a new technique from the August Newsletter called "Worn Wallpaper". This is a great technique for backgrounds and you do not need anythig special. I am sure you all have some scrap paper and white embossing powder to do this technique. I used some digital stamps from FireCracker Designs by Pamela an colored them with my ciao copic markers.

Here a close-up of one of the scene's. I have printed out the digital stamp several times, to make the picture more lively. The bunny is printed in two sizes and given a more xmas color.

An Oldie But A Goodie

Greetings, Friends! Jane Bosi here with a project share. It features an older technique, Paper Toile (June 2003). Isn't this just the perfect image? It's from I Brake For Stamps; the sentiment is from Amuse. I also used a new embossing folder from the Tim Hotlz line on the background.

I just love the final results. If you haven't given this technique a go, I highly recommend it. It's soothing to cut and piece and the results are amazing!

Background Whimsy by Judy Jackson

This retired floral background stamp from Stampin' Up! lends itself beautifully to this technique. As soon as I saw and read the directions, I immediately thought of this stamp. Does that ever happen to you?

This technique is an easy way to add color, interest, and design to many background stamps. A high quality white gel pen is a must for this technique.

The fancy label is made using a Spellbinders die cut and the stamp is from SU. The flower accent is created by using several layers of punched out card stock spritzed with glimmer spray and attached with a brad in the middle of the flower. The leaves were cut out with a leaf die cut from Quickutz. That is a quick and easy way to create an embellishment custom made for your card.

Polished Vellum Flower by Ann

Ann Clack here with a polished vellum flower!  An oldie but goodie technique from the April 05 newsletter.This card is for a friend's 50th birthday.  I asked her Sister-in-law if they were using any particular colors for the party.....pink and black!  So....this was my creation.  I backed the vellum flower with some flower punch outs so that it would pop away from the card.  The butterfly is also popped out to look more 3-D.  I've always loved Markie's mom (Faith) and her dots on black so I had to use on this card!  Enjoy!
