Hetty's Embellished Circles

A wonderful technique in the new newsletter is
embellished circles
It is a little like the millefiori technique from the last
newsletter (and I like that one too).
I love how the stamping and the embellishments
come together in this technique.

On the first card you see the technique used as it is
explained in the tutorial.
On the 2nd card you see the technique combined
with a picture that was first stamped and masked.
Then the circles were added and a bit of glimmermist.
This way it has a more grungy look.

Used stamps are from Stampin'Up! and Steampunk.

Have a creative day!

Try That Technique: Embossed Wash

Welcome to the Design Junkies blog for Try That Technique. This is Beth Norman with the challenge of the week, selected by Diana Enns and myself. Every Thursday we post our cards, and ask you to join in on the fun.

This week we are challenging you to use the Dry Embossed Wash technique, which is in the 12/07 issue and it is a bonus technique in the Emboss or Die CD.

Isn't my Sweet and Sassy Stamps image just darling.

Here is a close up. Doesn't the Dry
Embossed Wash technique, behind the Sweet and Sassy Stamps image, look just like the paper from Mark's Finest Papers? Cool, eh?

Each week we select a winner who plays along with us. How do you win? Just submit a card to our Yahoo group using the technique of the week. Cut off is 12 noon EST.

This week's winner used the Scored Diamonds technique last week. Congratulations Mary Wise. You are this week's winner. Your card is now on our home page.

**Please note, Try That Technique will take a break in June, July and August. I will randomly post a TTT during that time, so look closely for the announcements. Enjoy the nice weather.***

Scrapping Techniques

{Jane Bosi} I've been challenging myself lately to see how many TJ techniques I can scrapbook with. Today, I'm using a technique from the most recent newsletter, Foam Shadow Stamping. My finished page measures 8 x 8--the size works perfectly for applying techniques and for when I only have one picture I want to use. My stamp image is from I Brake For Stamps and is called Butterflies. It's the perfect accent for this page and a wonderfully versatile image! Other stamps are from Amuse and Stampin' Up! Anyone want to join me in some technique based scrapbookin'?

Cuttlebug Highlights and Glimmered Texture by Judy Jackson

I sure hope that by now you have purchased the Emboss or Die CD. If you haven't -- run and click your fingers to order this CD.
I used another vintage Easter image from Tim Holtz. I chose designer background paper to be used with the Cuttlebug Highlights technique for the background.
A strip of white lace and some pearls were chosen for embellishments. Then I used a small piece of Glimmered Texture paper to use as an accent over the bottom right hand corner of the vintage focal image.
These vintage Easter images so remind me of many picture books for young children.
I hope your spring is nice and warm -- with creativity flowing from your stamps to paper!

Ribbon Spiral Strip

Hello, Junkies, Donna here!  Today I've got something highly unusual and very rare -- a scrapbook page made by me.  I can't remember the last time I did a layout, but I needed to make one for the Class Act blog challenge so here it is.

The technique I'm featuring is called Ribbon Spiral Strip and it's from the October/November 2008 newsletter.  My version is wider than what was shown in the newsletter (I started with a 2" strip), and I used pearl cotton thread instead of ribbon.

From the same newsletter, I also used a bit of Cuttlebug Highlight, a technique I use so often that I forget that it's a technique.

The stamps used on this layout are from Class Act, Inc. and I colored the images with Copic markers.  Papers used include kraft paper and Heavenly White from Paper Temptress.  I love the Heavenly White paper with Copics, by the way.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Try That Technique

Hi, Beth Norman here, with another week of Try That Technique. This week Diana and I challenged each other to create a card, or project, using the Scored Diamonds technique, and is found in the April 2010 issue as well as our new Emboss or Die CD.

This technique was one that was created by Pat herself. Thank you, Pat, for another awesome technique.

Each week we pick a winner, whose card will be posted onto our Yahoo group home page for the entire week. Your name will be in spotlights, along with your card. All you have to do is submit your card using the Scored Diamonds technique to our Yahoo group.

We have a winner from last week's Watercolor of White. Congratulations Barb Benson. Your card is now on our home page.

Glimmered Texture Easter Card by Judy Jackson

This vintage Easter Bunny image is from the seasonal papers by Tim Holtz. I created the frame with the Glimmered Texture technique. I used an A2 sized paper and created a small piece of cardstock with the glimmered Texture technique. Then I used a die cut to cut out the frame.
I mounted the focal image on green and red card stock. I used white metallic paper to tie both the frame and the vintage bunny together. Paper Temptress sells this beautiful paper. It has a lovely shimmer to the text weight paper.
Some ribbon and stick on bling finish off the card!
Is it Spring yet where you live? I hope so.
