Try That Technique Thursday

Good Mornin' Ladies: Nancy Dawson here with your Try that Technique Thursday. This week I picked the Inchies Border from the Stampbooking CD. Of course, I scrapped my grandson 'punching'. He's gonna be a great stamper!

I had a few squares left over so I made a card for Father's Day. I love the colors!

40th Birthday - by Judy Jackson

Greetings from Judy Jackson! Our son-in-law turns 40 today! So that deserved a special card to mark this milestone year.

The focal image is from River City Rubber Works. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up. The image is colored with Copic markers.

Silly me put the numerals on under the sentiment "look who's turning..." and then I couldn't punch it out to be sure and get it "square." So I tried using the paper trimmer. Nope, that didn't square corners either so I then decided to just cut it an angle and I thought that will add some interest!

I tried to give the card a old vintage feel and I think I succeeded!

We celebrated together last Sunday but today is the really big day! So I hope it is a wonderful day for him! He is a great son-in-law and we love him a lot!

Vellum Sentiments by Judy Jackson

Good day from Judy Jackson.

Bold stamps colored with bold colors work the best for this technique. Often markers work the very best because of their frequent intense hues. You need to choose to stamp with a bold image, and then you need to decide where over the image is going to be the best place to place your sentiment. This image is not large but I think I found the right place for the sentiment don't you?

I really like this stamp but it is certainly not within my usual "style." Stamp credits belong to Stamp Impressions and Sweet and Sassy Stamps. But it works very well for certain techniques and style of of cards. I think this is one of them! Have you tried this technique? It is fun!

Another Splash and Stick by Judy Jackson

Here is another card using this technique (from August 2010) -- from Judy Jackson. I didn't write or film the technique and I can only claim I made this card (and others!).

As I used the inks to splash around on the glossy card stock, I decided the colors were right for the parrot stickers. I added a few punched and die cut images and stamps to finish the card.

The parrot is unique - never going to be one exactly like him! -- and so are each one of us!

Stamps are from Stampin' Up and the sticker from Outlines.

Side Step and Bandanda Techniques

Good morning friends. Beth Norman here with a double technique card. First, I created my Bandana technique and then adhered it to the Side Step card. You can find the directions for the Side Step card on the Fancy Folds and Motion CD.

There are three different stamps used on my card: the small butterflies are from Hero Arts, the large butterfly is from My Favorite Things stamps and the sentiment is from Stampabilities.

Try That--Mulberry Magic!

{Jane Bosi}Greetings, Stampy Friends!! It's time for another Try That Technique Challenge! This week, we are using a great technique from the Feb/March 2011 edition of the TJ Newsletter, Mulberry Magic! I adore this technique! The results are funky, soft, wild, vivid.....just about anything you want them to be!!! Give it a go!

About my card, the images on the technique piece are from a few different Amuse sets. The main image is an awesome Kenny K stamp from I Brake For Stamps!! This one is called "All That," but dont say I didnt warn!! A few new Kenny K images were added to the IBFS website this week and they are ALL fabby! Apples for the Jewish New Year

Hello Stampers!

Hetty here with two card ideas for the Jewish New Year.

For both cards I used the "color-sandwich"- technique

from newsletter June/July 2011

One of the symbols you see on many of the Jewish cards is an apple.

We eat a sweet apple with honey to wish each other a very sweet year.

This weekend I was at the StempelMekka in Hagen, Germany. A big stamp show

and I met Judy from Judikins and found she had this sweet apple I just had to have

for my New Year cards. 

The color sandwich technique was perfect for the card I wanted to make.

The apple is from their new  Posh Impressions range of stamps

and I already had the bee. So this was a great combination.

I added some glossy accent to the apples to make it look like

the honey drops of the aplles.

The Hebrew sentiment translates to: A happy and prosperous year

and is embossed with gold embossing powder. 

For the second card I used an image by Create with TLC

and the apple by Judikins. The are hjust beautiful together.

You might wonder about the numeber on the apples: 5772.

Well, that is the numeral  of the new Jewish Year. 

For the inside of my cards I used this fun stamp

that is  from Zum Gali Gali.
