Pencil Over Marker 2/05

Hello Stamping and Paper Crafting Friends~ Kathie McGuire here. Thanks for stopping by today to take a look at one of my recycling projects. For this box, I used an empty container from the Laughing Cow Cheese Wheels. I used a few Spellbinders dies for the circles, minus the first layer (I didn't have a punch or die that was the right size). I hand cut the first layer by drawing around a coffee mug and then cut the cardstock with scissors. Not the ideal method, but sometimes we have to just do the best with what we've got, right? The image layer was made by stamping the rooster image (Stampin' Up! from ages ago) in black ink and then I colored with makers and colored pencils and Gamsol using the "Pencil Over Marker" technique from the 2/05 Technique Junkies Newsletter. I used some red line tape around the top and bottom of the container's sides and added some Stampin' Up! ribbon. This box ended up being the ideal container for two necklaces I made and gave to a friend for her birthday. Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a lovely weekend. Kathie

Technique Junkie Annual CD Blog Hop

 This is Judy Jackson, greeting you on yet another Technique Junkie Design Team Blog Hop.  This Blog Hop is featuring the nine Annual TJ CDs.  But wait -- did you know that each Annual CD includes BONUS techniques that were NOT published in the TJ Newsletter?  And that the ONLY way to get to learn these techniques is to own the Annual CD?

Before I start to describe the four cards made from different TJ techniques from the very FIRST Annual CD I want to tell you just a little about myself. I had discovered rubber stamping and scrapbooking about three - fours years before I retired from teaching elementary school. I fell in love with these two crafts.  I took lots of classes and learned a lot from a variety of places.  I no longer considered myself a beginning stamper.  We moved from near Albany, New York to south central Pennsylvania.  I knew I "had" to find stamping and scrapping friends - and I did that.  But I also knew I had to find a regular source of affordable inspiration of techniques for stamping and scrapping.  I poked around on the internet after we had moved.  I found Pat Huntoon and the newsletter -- TECHNIQUE JUNKIE!  I subscribed for only six months -- 3 issues. I had been very disappointed in some other magazines and I wanted to be sure before I committed my money.  In the first issue I was hooked and I have never looked back.  If you like my hand stamped cards -- please know some of my greatest technique inspiration has come from the Technique Junkie Newsletter. Have I learned from any where else? Absolutely!  So if you are wondering is buying these CD's worth the money, I can assure that YES IT IS! 

My first card features the lovely Saran Wrap Technique which is a Bonus technique on CD 1.  The stamps used are Stampavie stamps which are available from Classy Cards 'n Such .

My second card uses the Tapestry Technique from CD1.  Stamp credits belong to Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. This is a brand new set.

My third card uses the UTTE Tiles from the first CD. The stamps used are Stampavie stamps which are available from Classy Cards 'n Such.

My fourth and last card features  the Antiqued Vellum technique -- another Bonus technique on CD 1.  Stamp credits belong to Inkadinkado and Stampin' Up!

On the cards where I colored in the focal image I used Copic markers.

Peel Off Borders - by Judy Jackson

 

The Peel Off  Border technique is a fun one!  I think it sets off the focal image here very nicely.  Stamp credits are Cornish Heritage Farms, close to My Heart, and Stampin' Up.

Ann Clack here with a cling and scrunch card for you to enjoy.  This is for my cousin who lost her mother to cancer.  My aunt's name is Persis which is why I used purses.  She often wore jewelry with little purses on it so this is quite proper.  She was a wonderful person and is being missed by many. 

The cling and scrunch technique is from the 2007 June issue of the TJ newsletter.  AND you should NOT miss the upcoming blog hop this next coming week..........there is going to be a sale going on.  Stay tuned for more info coming on May 31st.  The little punched purses were an idea I saw from a fellow TJer.  Wish I could have written her name down as now I don't remember.  *sigh*    The "Sympathy" word was cut out with my cricut using a file from kwerner. 

Leopard Peel Off Borders by Judy Jackson

Hello, out there in Technique Junkie Land!  This is Judy Jackson sharing a card with you today.  I have used the Peel Off Border technique from the April-May 2012 newsletter.

I used the Scenic Stamping technique to create the focal image.  Stamps Credits are for Impression Obsession and Stampin' Up. I felt the lattice border sticker blended well with the masculine focal image.

In just days the June-July issue of the TJ newsletter will be mailed out!  Just wait till you see the techniques in that one!  Wonderful!  I hope your week is a great one!

Try That Technique

Good Mornin' TJ'ers:  Nancy Dawson here to bring you this week's Try that Technique for May 24 - June 6. Masked Layers was featured in the February/March 2012 Technique Junkies NL. Using Stampin' Up! Newsprint Designer Paper (retired) as the background, I sponged with two shades of blue and one green classic ink, the vocal point is the Stampin' Up! Just Believe stamp set (which is NOT retiring).

What an interesting and great technique for masculine cards as well as get well, sympathy, birthday - the possibilities are endless. Come join the fun and post your cards for more inspiration.

CASCADING TEA CUPS
