Broken Borders for Christmas

Good morning.  Beth Norman here with Broken Borders, one of my favourite techniques.  This time I played around with replacing the sentiment with a cute little reindeer.  Isn't she cute?  The fun thing about this technique is that there is so much you can do with it.  You can use cardstock or designer paper, sentiments or images.  The world is your oyster as they say.  Thank you for stopping by.

Smooch Painted Texture by Judy Jackson

Good morning everyone from Judy Jackson.  Are you like  frantically trying to get "IT"  all done in time to enjoy the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with family?  I know we all have a lot to do  right now!  I am busily trying to get my Christmas cards all made! 

Then I just wonder have you seen a product  or a stamp or an embossing folder and said to yourself, "I know exactly how I will use this!"  I saw these new Tim Holtz embossing folders and that was exactly what I said to myself!  These folders needs SMOOCH!  I was very excited and could hardly wait to receive it.  And today I made two cards with these new embossing folders using theSmooch Painted Texture from the December 2011/January 2012 Technique Junkie Newsletter.  I hope you like them! 

I used a small piece of mica and embossed the greeting one the pine bough and pine cone card.  The greeting is from Sweet and Sassy Stamps.  Add a little Distress Stickles (Picket Fence) and some sparkly Fluff for snow in the needles and the pine cone.   The finishing touch on both cards is a few spritzes glimmer spray. 

 

I think these two embossing folders just cry for using this technique.  What do you think?

Gloss Colored Texture

I know this photo is really large but I wanted you to be able to clearly see the embossed fruit slices. Aren't they cool? I thought I would try this technique as I have never seen anyone do it and it looked so interesting.. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder I have never used before too. The stamped images in the center background are from Club Stamp and the verse is from G Studio. This technique was great fun with most pleasing results. I hope you will give it a try!

Torn Holes by Judy Jackson

When Stampin' Up introduced this stamp several years ago - I immediately saw it being used with Vintage elements.  The torn fabric around the focal image adds a nice touch to me.

The directions for the Torn Holes technique suggest this technique can be used with many of those backgrounds we have created in the past and are still sitting in drawers or boxes waiting to be used.  This background is one of those! 

Have you looked in your piles of already created backgrounds to see if one of those can used for this Technique!   I am sure you can find some!  Have a creative day!

Holly Brown: Distress Stain Dip Postage

Hi folks!  It's Holly posting today, and I'm sharing this vintage-style Distress Stain Dip card.  I stamped the whole postage stamp onto my Distress Stain Dip panel, and then I cut out the bird collage and paper pieced it onto the same postage image stamped on white cardstock.  This Distress Stain Dip technique is so much fun - you never get the same look twice!  You can find this technique in the latest issue, Oct/Nov 2012.

Cascading Images in a Scrapbook by Judy Jackson

the purpose of this post is not to showoff  my great scrapbook stitching skills -- because they are not that great!  However I do want to show you how you can use a TJ stamping technique on  a scrapbook page.

This past July we went to family wedding. Our wedding gift to the Bride and Groom is a scrapbook of their wedding.   Because it was destination wedding and there were lots of things to do -- this scrapbook will be quite large.   This is about page 40! I have turned our downstairs family room into a marathon scrap station.   When I am doing a marathon scrapping session, I cannot use my table in my craft room - there just isn't enough space!

Please look at the three pictures of the little flower girl.  Do you notice how they "cascade down" the page?  The cascading images just draw your eyes  down and draw your eyes to look at each picture.  The technique for Cascading Images is from the April 2012 issue of Technique Junkie newsletter.

This is a card I posted for the Cascading Images technique on this blog on May 12, 2012.  You can see how the flower image also cascade down the page on the card. While the flower image is the same stamp - each flower image is painted slightly different.  Using the same subject in your pictures with slight variations can also work.  In a scrapbook - this technique



can be dramatic, adorable, mischievous, or just plain interesting depending on what images you use and the story you are trying to  tell (or show via pictures) on your scrapbook page.
