Technique of the Week.....Stained Embossing!

{Jane Bosi}

Happy Monday!  It's a holiday week if you are livin' in the United States....yahooo!  The impending July 4th celebration inspired my card featuring this week's technique--Stained Embossing!  This technique, found in the June/July newsletter, is a great way to create an interesting and colorful background.  My star background is the perfect backdrop for this great image from I Brake For Stamps, don't you think?

I can't wait to see more Stained Embossing samples made by YOU!  Have fun and don't forget to share your work on the Yahoo group!

Holly Brown: Double T Slider Butterfly Birthday

Hi, it's Holly posting today!  This pretty in pink butterfly piece is a Double T Slider technique from the 3D and Fun Folds CD.  See the little curved area at the top?  You pull out that piece that is hiding inside and you get a double surprise - something comes out from the bottom too!!  See below:

Isn't that fun??  The butterfly block is a stamp I bought at a LSS years ago.  I looked all over the wooden block for the name of the company but there is nothing marked on there.  The sentiment stamps are from Papertrey Ink.  The patterned paper that I stamped the butterflies on is from an old package from Prima - I've been hoarding these papers!  LOL

I hope you try a technique or two from the CD's.  I know you've got at least one or two of those CD's in your craft room - pull them out and share what you create with us over in the TJ Yahoo group.  If you don't have the 3D and Fun Folds CD, you can order it here:   http://techniquejunkies.com/3d-and-fun-folds-cd.html.  There are a ton of great ideas to be found on all of the CD's offered from Technique Junkies!

Pressed Stains by Judy Jackson

I love techniques that use new items that I have!  This uses the Distress Stains.   It gives such a wonderful background. I know this will be a favorite technique to use again and again!  The focal image of the cacti is a retired stamp from Close to My Heart.  The cactus in the foreground is popped up with foam tabs. The word stamp is from Stampin' Up.

Hope you have a crafty day!

Cutaway Card Technique of the Week

Jackie K here again to show you my 2 cards for the Cutaway Card technique!

This card uses a stamp from G studio. I did not have an embossing folder with a one sided design that worked for this technique. So I had to improvise. I think the technique still works well with a full front embossing folder.

This card uses the same stamp. The difference as you can see is my using blue card stock rather than white. I think this works well also.

These are fun cards to do and will make the recipient happy to have one I think.

Give this a try won't you? Don't forget
to post your creation to the yahoo group for us all to enjoy.

See you next time!

Cutaway Windows - Technique of the Week

I am happy to announce the Technique of the Week -- Cutaway Windows (June/July 2013 Technique Junkie Newsletter). The only real trick to this is picking the right embossing folder. I happened to have this one right on my desktop since I picked it up at a recent Stamp Show. Truly, I have an addiction to Embossing Folders, so I could have picked several with that would have worked!

I decided to add my color with the Smooch Painted Texture (December 2011/January 2012 TJNL). I have to tell you, I made a couple of cards for today's post. In one of them, the coloring was PERFECTION. I played around with embossing the inside of the folder, adding different papers, and other embellishments, too. Then I stamped the sentiment (a different one from the one above). I "eyeballed" it when stamping - and of course, I stamped it VERY crooked. Dang! I even tried cutting the card asymmetrically, but basically, it was toast! Note to self: Use the stamp positioner!

Can't wait to see what you make!

Triple Embossing- Summertime

Oh the idea of Summertime- there are so many delightful things to do....... Some people prefer to go to the beach, some like to go camping, some like to relax and read a good book....what do you like to do?  I like to do anything but clean....hehehe

I made a card using a Repeat Impressions image- Oh, doesn't this look inviting?  I just need a good book to read...or maybe a laptop to browse Pintrest......The image is colored in with markers and I huffed to make sure all of the ink was moist, then stamped it onto the white cardstock. I used a dauber to add greenery to the leaves and a Copic to add brown to the tree trunk and branches.I added Kanji that says Dream..... The DP is Bo Bunny and it is highlighted in browns and greens.

I hope you will join in and try using the Triple Embossing Technique of the week- we'd love to see what you create!

Triple Embossing

Good Mornin' Ladies:
Nancy Dawson here to share the Triple Embossing Technique of the Week! Images by Stampin' Up.

It is such an easy, peasy technique that adds so much to your project. You can do this on Designer Paper or even plain card stock accented with a little sponging to add color!

Now give it a try and let us see what you come up with!

Happy Stampin'
