Where I Needed to Be

 

Hi, it's Gini, and I'm back to share with you a card that uses the gorgeous Vintage Ship Collage from the Palettini Collection. After I stamped the image, I added color using Spectrum Noir Blendable Color Pencils to the images, and then filled in the background with Distress Inks. The sentiment, Needed to Be, was stamped with VersaMark ink onto vellum and then heat embossed with gold.  I always like a little dimension on my cards, so I stamped the Butterfly 5 twice with the watermark ink, embossed them, cut and layered them.  Thanks for stopping by!

Stand Tall

Hey, there!  It's me again, Robin Redd (a.k.a. RockinReddRobin!)  

Today, I'm sharing, with you, this card I made with this adorable giraffe stamp, Stand Tall #SD601.

Who doesn't love a giraffe, right?!

 I created the background using the Watercolor Paint Technique that I learned from the Sensational Stencil Technique CD.  Boy, there are SO many techniques on there I've never seen and I'm dying to try!

 

I used Art Anthologies Colorations to 'paint' the background, Grass and Guacamole.

        

 

I stamped the Stand Tall image with a Kaleidacolor stamp pad, Cappuccino Delight.

Life Is a Roller Coaster....

Happy Thursday, Junkies!!  I am excited to share a new image with you today!!  When I received it, I actually giggled with joy and then, nodded my head in complete agreement!  Life is like a roller coaster!  Are you screaming or throwing your hands up in the air?  I admit, I do both!  LOL!

When I'm creating, though, my hands are up and enjoying the ride!  I started this project with a background technique found on the Bodacious Backgrounds CD.  This one is called It Takes Two--it's a fun and quick tutorial that leads to an interesting outcome!  You can view all of the backgrounds, plus find the CD link, in the Technique Junkie store or right here.

To create the illusion of movement, I stamped the Roller Coaster image three times without inking between.  Later, I used markers and sponged ink to fill in the white spaces.

It's Hip To Be Square

Good Tuesday morning everyone!  I'm Marilyn and I've got a couple of cute 4x4's, otherwise known as Fat Book Pages, to share with you today.  This is my first ever post to the blog and I am excited!

I started out with two 4x4 squares of watercolor paper, but cardstock would have worked just fine. I then laid out my 1" paper squares and glued them down.

Next, I stamped two awesome kitty stamps (I just love kitties!):  Meow Chicka (I laugh every time I see it) and Long Tail Retro Kitty (that's one cool cat) onto a piece of paper using black Versafine ink.

After fussy-cutting them out, I inked around the edges with black ink and then adhered them to my cards.  I then added my words, and other embellishments.

Good day fellow stampers.  Don't you just love getting new stamps and new fun things to play with?  I do for sure.   So I am sharing a card made with a new stamp for Technique Junkie Stamps.  And if you are a cat lover -- well, you will surely love this new stamp as well!

This new stamp,  Kitty Profile, features the face of this lovely kitty.   It is stamped on watercolor paper with black pigment ink and embossed with black detail embossing powder. First I applied water first to the watercolor paper with a spray bottle. Then I added just swirls of water color paint through the water. That is how the various colors are achieved.  I dried the paper with my heat gun before stamping and embossing.  To color the eyes I used some Smooch paints and applied it the green with my aqua pen. Since it was painted over the yellows and oranges already on the paper, it gave the green a different look.

I stamped congratulations on vellum and tore it a bit. I was able to put the vellum through my X Xyron sticker maker to allow it to be adhered to the background.  A row of rhinestones, layering the focal image, and I was finished.

Coloring Spring...

If you receive the weekly email from Technique Junkies, you know that I am in love with the Art Anthology line of products. Today I am happy to show you more uses for the Dimensional Mediums, Colorations Sprays, and Stencils.  If you are not receiving my email on Fridays (TJ Inkspirations), email me at phuntoon@optonline.net and I will make sure that you get this week's email, and future emails, too.

It finally feels like spring here in Connecticut. It has been a long winter, and it is about time that the bushes and trees start flowering! Since the first of my Azalea bushes are starting to bloom,   I decided to celebrate all blooming things by using the Technique Junkies  Cherry Blossoms Stamp (SD294) along with the Forever and a Day Stamp (SD599) to celebrate spring's renewal.  I stamped both using Jet Black StazOn.

To add textural color, I painted the blossoms, leaves and branches with Persimmon Velvet, Limeaid Velvet, and Kenyan Copper Sorbet. I simply used a small paintbrush and cleaned it off between paint colors.

I dried the pant quickly using a set tool, then I prepared the background.

 I simply placed the Retro Tile Stencil over my cardstock on my covered work surface. As an optional step, you might want to tape the stencil down with painter's tape; it keeps the stencil flat and the results are potentially better. (My painter's tape is packed with my classroom supplies in my booth for th tradeshow in Akron this weekend, and I didn't have the energy to excavate it!)

I used three Colorations sprays randomly on my piece: Waimea Bay, Juicy, and Grass.  As soon as all three were sprayed, I carefully removed the stencil.

Allow the piece to dry before matting the card pieces together.

Happy Saturday Junkies! Coffee Anyone?

Good morning Junkies! Pam here today! There isn't a better way to wake up on a beautiful spring Saturday morning than to the aroma of some fresh brewed coffee!  So today I am showcasing the Technique Junkies new April release stamp SD 498 Drinking Coffee.

If anyone has seen my blog or previous projects they certainly know how much I love the java!!  I also love working with the palette of colors  and textures that coffee stirs up - creams, browns, burlap, drip rings and all sorts of artistic effects.

For this card I started with a piece of glossy card stock for the  main focal image background and of course used a technique from one of Pat's fantastic CDs - Sensational Stencils. Alcohol Stencils.  This is such a fabulous technique because it combines the amazing colors of alcohol inks with your favorite stencil! For this I used the Crafter's Workshop Mini Paint Lids -to give the appearance of coffee drip rings in the background.   The stamp itself comes as all one large sentiment but I decided to cut it apart after stamping to better fit my project. To add some additional texture I layered the main piece onto a piece of Kraft core card stock (die cut with Sizzix postage stamp die), woven paper from DCWV, and finally onto a piece of corrugate card base.  I used a stencil and distress ink to add some larger drip rings to this piece as well.  Best of all I add a couple of real espresso beans- boy does this card smell good!
