One Background, Three Different Looks

Hello, Fellow Junkies! Don't forget...

I don't know about you, but I am still oohing and aahing over the new Watercolor Flowers Background Stamp.  I have had so much fun playing with it and creating different moods. Along with that, I have used You Are The World for the sentiments.

While I was playing, I came up with three cards, all using that Watercolor Flowers stamp as a background, and all three cards couldn't have a more different feel. One is sparkly and bright, one is dark and elegant, and one is light and airy. What do you think?

For the first card, I embossed the background and used a Nuvo Glue Pen and Nuvo Pure Sheen Glitter to accent the floral part.

For the dark and elegant version, I embossed with silver on a black cardstock. The sentiment was embossed on vellum.

And for the light and airy card, I white embossed the background and used watercolor to enhance the image. A die cut with a partial sentiment and some ribbon and Nuvo Crystal Drops finished off the card.

I used the April Technique Junkies Release Butterfly Dreams - www.techniquejunkies.com/butterfly-dreams/  and A Single Rose - www.techniquejunkies.com/a-single-rose/.  The image was colored in with Copic markers. The verse was heat embossed on vellum and layered on a small piece of card stock and then adhered to the  card front.   I tied several lengths of ribbon around the side of the focal card layer before tying a bow.

Here are a couple projects to start us off!

My first card uses Row of Birds and You Are the World (set of 3).

I stamped the sweet birds in light brown ink and then watercolored.

My next card uses Butterfly Dreams, You Are the World and Butterfly Quotes.

I did some simple watercoloring for the backgrounds of the two panels. I used my MISTI to stamp the pretty Butterfly Dreams girl a few times to get a good solid image. The flowers were inked and then misted with water before stamping onto the background.

TJ Inkspirations - New Release Sneak Peek!

I am so excited that tomorrow is the April 2017 New Release Blog Hop!  I just can't contain myself. I have to give you a little sneak peek with one of the stamps that is coming...one of my favorites from the release. This beauty is called Watercolor Flowers:

And the sentiment is one of my favorites which I (finally) made into a stamp, called Art of God:

 Sometimes stamps like the Watercolor Flower stamp can be hard for people. When stamped with one color, they are monochromatic.  Although that is a pretty look for this stamp, I think it is even prettier with the stems and flowers colored differently.  This is how I colored mine!

 First I started with watercolor paper and three Distress Markers. Although any water-based markers will do, I think these work especially well when spritzed with moisture. I used Peeled Paint, Fossilized Amber, and Rusty Hinge to color my stamps.

 I simply applied the Peeled Paint marker on the stems...

 Then I colored the flowers fully with the Fossilized Amber Marker.

 To add highlights, the Rusty Hinge marker was applied on the tips of each of the flowers.

 To reactivate the ink in the markers, I lightly sprayed Art Anthology's Gilded Gold Spray over the rubber stamp before immediately stamping on the watercolor paper. I end result was very sparkly:

 To finish the card,I used the same markers on the sentiment before matting and adding it to the finished piece.

Dog Lovers Unite!

Hey Fellow Junkies!

The Crafty Nurse here today with another card from our March 2017 release. Spring and sprung and as we appreciate the beauty of our surroundings, we here at the blog hope you find time to reflect that beauty in an artistic way.

This card is for our dog lovers in the group!  Sorry cat peeps!  You have to admit it's pretty darn funny through.....

The focal image called "Can't Afford The Cat SD764" is simply stamped with Versafine Black Onyx Ink using my MISTI tool, then heat embossed with an application of Distress Inks in Wild Honey and Gathered Twigs over the top.  I used "Paid In Full #P027", a Palettini Collection stamp as way to add additional text for the background of both focal and background images.

How to Do Reverse Embossing

Hello fellow stampers.  It's Beth Norman with a Reverse Embossing tutorial for you today.  I used the elegant Peeking stamp and Believe in Yourself.

We now have a deal for you.  Simply use TJ10Beth to get 10% off your stamp order.

Supplies: Oversized cardstock, 4 x 5 1/4 cardstock, two colours of ink, sponges, die

With your die, cut out your shape on your oversized cardstock, leaving a lot of room to sponge without getting colour on the edges of the template.

Lay your smaller sized cardstock under your cardstock that has been cut out with your embossing machine.

Sponge in your lightest colour and cover the entire open area.  Here I used SU Flirty Flamingo.

Next, sponge in a darker colour, keeping it close to the outside of your circle, or whatever shape you use.  Here I used SU Sweet Sugarplum.

Finished sponged work.

I love my Misti.  It allows for fabulous placement.  Finish your image as desired.

Since spring has finally arrived I thought I would share a fun mixed media layout that I created using one of this months fabulous new releases.. This release is packed full of Spring time fun but today Spring Daisies was the stamp for me. So without further ado lets take a look at my layout.
