Colorless Calendula!

Hello!

It's Chris, sharing a card today featuring the new July stamp, Calendula!  Calendula is such an amazing background stamp!  I had colored it with Copic Markers for the Release hop, (if you missed it, you can see if fully colored here).

But today, I chose to use a variation of the chalkboard technique along with a pop of color.

I stamped the Calendula stamp with white pigment ink and heat embossed using a glittery white embossing powder.  I added some faint coloring to the highlight areas with a white Chameleon Colortone pencil.

Calendula, Things I Want to Do

The card was assembled on a bright yellow card base.  I added a greeting on a matching piece of deckled trimmed cardstock.  The sentiment is from the set Things I Want To Do.  I added a doodled border with a Copic Multiliner pen.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Cat Collection

Hello, fellow Junkies! Toodle Noodle Ro here today with some crazy cats! Lots of 'em!
So let's take a look right meow!

I love cats (...and dogs...and bunnies...and giraffes...and llamas...and...well, you get the picture). And I thought using several of the TJ stamps from the cat family would be fun. I have used five stamps here, starting upper left and going clockwise:

  1. Crazy Cat Border
  2. Cats and More Cats
  3. Coffee Kitty
  4. Kitty Watching
  5. Downton Boy Kitty
To make the card, I die cut the blue frame and placed it on the yellow cardstock to lightly draw pencil lines where the openings would be. Then, using post-it notes to mask off the various areas, I stamped the images in black ink.

The frame was then adhered to the yellow cardstock, which was adhered to the orange cardstock. I wrapped some twine and attached the layers to a white card base.

An aside about me, I work in a very laid back office and we have an office cat. My boss is an ER doctor (who is also an animal fanatic) and when I found this little stray kitty he said she could stay. So we named her Ativan (in case you don't know, Ativan is an anti-anxiety medication) and we call her our "therapy cat."  And she is my constant assistant...she has even been known to send text messages all by herself!

Hope you enjoyed my post today. Don't be afraid to mix and match your stamps. You just may come up with a fun result!

One in a Melon

Happy Monday!

Nothing says summer like watermelon! I used the Watermelon Summer (set of 3) stamp set for today's card. I created a washy background with watercolors (I used the same colors for the watermelon slice. I used my MISTI to stamp the watermelon. I watercolored the image and then restamped in black ink for a nice crisp image before cutting the slice with scissors.

How about a discount?

Have a great day!

Beautiful Calendula

Happy Saturday!!!

Vicki here with a share of the beautiful Calendula Stamp that was recently released.

I just LOVE the pretty flowers and exquisite leaves!!!!

I coloured the image and background with my Zig Clean Color brush markers and a waterbrush.

I wanted to add a sentiment, but I didn't want to take away from the pretty colouring, so I embossed my condolence sentiment onto vellum and mounted it with a touch of clear glue.

Lastly, I added some Irresistable pico embellish dots in black to the centre of the flowers

Hope you enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!!

Life is beautiful

Hello friends!! Hope you all are having a fantastic day! Today is a great day to celebrate, it's my Anniversary! Yep, a day like today my husband and I got married in a very breezy and chilly winter night in Lima, Peru, it has been 15 years and I am more than happy I am spending my time with him, many more years to come (with crafting too {wink, wink} )

Anyway, today I have a very simple card with one of the new stamps from the July release, this is Sunflowers stamp, beautiful background!

OK, let me show how I did it.
  • First, cut a piece of watercolor paper, sprinkle little bits of Color Burst, here I used Tangerine, Sepia, Yellow Ochre and Alizarin Crimson, then mist the powders and voila! Let the magic begin! You can let it air dry or use a heat tool to speed the process.
  • Then use a couple of the new Nuvo Glitter Markers and color the stamp with it, using your MISTI, stamp the image, here I covered the image twice with the reddish marker and once with the gold marker for the center of the flowers. Set aside to dry (it dries super fast)
  • To finish the card, I die-cut the edge with a border die, added foam under the big piece and tape on the thin side to create a little contrast. Then, embellish it with pearls and twine. Stamp the super cute "Life is beautiful" sentiment.

And to wrap this up, this is a sunflower from my garden from a couple of years ago! I love sunflowers!!
