My first project uses Sweetie and Delight. I used my MISTI to stamp the image and then colored with markers. I used the Circle Makes Circles stencil from A Colorful Life for the background along with some white Nuvo drops.

My next project uses Floral Border and Beautiful Minds and my MISTI.

This month's challenge is Floral ATCs!

Never made an Artist Trading Card (ATC) before? It's easy!

Cut your cardstock (or whatever paper you plan to use) to 2 1/2" by 3 1/2" and get decorating! Think small!

ATC's are great to have around to add to a card base for a quick card.

Here is a template that shows how to cut 10 ATCs from one sheet of cardstock.

Here is my project using Here We Go Round in Circles (set of 12), 60's Chic and Love You.

I created the background by placing one of the solid circles on my MISTI, misting with water (just a little) and then tapping a few grains of Color Burst (Alizarin Crimson and Lemon Yellow from the Brights Collection)onto the stamp. I misted with water again (again very lightly) and stamped onto watercolor paper.

Repeat until you have a pattern you like.

I made a random pattern.

I stamped the a few of the images from 60's Chic in the center of my circles to 

create  a flower look. 

I stamped Love You in black over the top of my flowers, trimmed and added a mat.

My featured stamp today is from the May release called City Watercolors, and if you click the link below, you can see a fantastic array of ideas on the product website page. There are so many ways to color this scene!

Supplies:

• City Watercolors Stamp
• Life is Beautiful Stamp
• Waterproof Black Ink Pad
• Watermark Embossing Ink Pad
• Watercolor Paper
• Black, white and gray cardstock
• Watercolors
• Gouache or other waterbased opaque white
• Paintbrushes
• Tape (optional)
• Flat Surface

I decided to try and create a night scene as soon as I spotted the street lights in the image. So I grabbed blues, grays, reds, yellows, greens and violet watercolor markers and started along my path.

Tips: Start watercolors diluted with water and do washes getting more saturated with color as shadows are accented. And try shadows fade upward because the city lights are brighter towards the ground.

Here is a line up of colors I used with Winsor and Newton markers. 

Sky - Payne's Gray, Indigo Prussian Blue Hue, and Dioxazine Violet. 

Tip: Start with a light gray wash around the street lights so they can be colored with yellow.

Lights - Gamboge Hue and Cadmium Yellow Pale Hue. 

Reds - Alizarin Crimson Hue and Fired Brick Red for brick and street lights, even a car, and clothing.

Green and Violet accents - Sap Green, Phthalo Green, and Dioxazine Violet. 

Tip: Change your saturated colors shades with black. If you don't have black, which is boring anyway, mix complementary colors (to make a gray orange, blue or yellow and violet plus a little white if you have it) to get a rich gray color.

To complete the sky and highlight the beams on the street lights use gouache in white and Lemon Yellow. The sentiment is embossed on gray paper with embossing ink and white embossing powder.

TJ Inkspirations: Life, Beer, and Masked Images

One of the new stamps released in May is a fun image called "Life and Beer." Today's tutorial uses the Beer Mug from the stamp and a favorite from last year called Sudsy Stuff to create a border of masked mugs in one layer on the center of the card. Even better, the whole thing sparkles. I used the Nuvo Glitter Gloss Aqua Pens to add a fine shimmer over the colored stamped mugs.  It is easy -- and fun! Before we get to the video, I just want to remind you that we are having a second release in May -- next week, on Tuesday, May 15 - to celebrate the release of 15 New stamps from the fabulous Rita Barakat. I have seen much of the artwork - so gorgeous, and you won't want to miss it! Advice from an owl

Hello friends! Giovana here today with a fun shaker card! For this card I used a brand new set "You are a Hoot" and "Gingham".

First, I stamped the cute owls on white cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black, colored them with alcohol markers and then added little details with Nuvo Markers, then fussy cut them out, after that I added Clear Laquer to the owl glasses.

I stamped the Gingham background on a piece of pink cardstock in red ink using my MISTI for perfect coverage, then stamped it again in Versamark Watermark ink and added clear embossing powder, then trimmed the imaged and die-cut an oval window, adhered a piece of transparency, added foam adhesive behind the panel and around the oval window to create the shaker. 

The sentiment was stamped in red ink, then added gold sequins on the middle of the sentiment, then added the gingham panel on top. Panels were added to a white card base.

Added a little white bow to embellish the card and voila!

Bodacious Butterflies

I don't know about you, but I am just LOVING this springtime weather. The sunshine, the warmth, the birds, the flowers. And the butterflies....

So I thought I would add some springtime butterflies to a card. Along with one of the newly released stamps. 

This striking card was easily created using the Misti and some masks. To use masks, stamp your forefront image, then mask it and stamp around it. Very simple. The stamps used were Audicity (May release) and Butterfly 2. I used colored pencils to color and added a little twinkle with some Wink of Stella.

Some sequins and a few Nuvo Crystal Drops added just the right amount of pizazz.
