Pet Loss Sympathy Card

                                        Hello Friends

Today I’m sharing some ideas for a pet sympathy card using stamps, paws stencil, and some quick background color. But first I’d like to brainstorm the dog/cat with you.  The silhouette dog I used on the first card with the paw print background  is a dog punch from Stampin’ Up punch I bought a few years ago. If you don’t have a dog die or punch - no problem. On the second card I simply stamped a dog stamp using white ink on black card stock then cut it out. Tada! So you can turn almost any dog stamp into a silhouette for a card. Doesn’t it feel good to use what you have sometimes?!

Card 1
Supplies used:

- White card base
- Ink Blending brushes
- Light color ink pads in choice of colors
- Black ink pad
Other background stamps that would work well that you may already have wildflower silhouettes, thistle border
- Dog silhouette (I used a dog punch from Stampin’ Up)

Step 1) Lightly brush colors across the card. I generally have leftover ink on my brushes so I started with that. I alternated the colors yellow, blue, and pink.

Step 2) Stamp the thistle border stamp at the bottom of the card (landscape).
Step 3) Using the paws stencil I used a light blue ink and added paws on the front of the card and on both inside panels.
Step 4) Stamp the outside and inside sentiments.
Step 5) Add your silhouette dog to the front.

Optional idea:  Instead of stamping the word “dog” - you could instead write the name of the dog in blank ink.

Card 2

On this card I used a “Pug” stamp and inked it in white then stamped on black card stock.  I wasn’t concerned with much of the white ink actually showing.  I simply wanted an outline so I could cut it out. The faded white (it basically turns to a gray color unless you heat emboss and use white embossing powder) worked well with the results I wanted. A hint of definition of the pug works for me.  The background is a wash of blue on watercolor paper that I had previously made.

Quick Cat Lover Card

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I’m sharing a fun & quick cat lover card.

Stamps & tools used:

I used the cat from this stamp -> Cat on her lap

Stencil brush Each brush in this set is a different color so you can coordinate it with the color ink you use.

4 x 2.5 piece of white card stock for the sentiment.

Adhesive & enamel gems

Turquoise A2 card base & a coordinating ink to use with the stencil.

Let’s make it…

- Cut 1.5 inch piece off the front edge of the A2 card. Set aside.

Stamp sentiment on the 4 x 2.5 white card stock piece.

Next I stamped, colored, and cut out the cat from the “Cat on her lap” stamp and adhered it in the bottom right corner of the white 4 x 2.5 sentiment piece. (see photo) I like how the cat’s legs dangle off and it looks so innocent (like the sentiment mentions).

Nothing difficult here. Just a fast cat card.  I’d love to see yours.

Rescued Is My Favorite Breed

 Hello Technique Junkie friends,

Today I’m using the just released My Favorite Breed stamp with multiple ways to create the background. In the examples shown below I used a scallop punch since it was the perfect size for this stamp. Check your punches and dies - you might have the right size too.

1) This paw print background was created using silver foil card stock (mirror card stock) and paw print embossing folder. It looks cool don’t you think?

2) The card with the gold paws on white was made using gold transfer foil and Paws stencil

3) The ever so handy Paws stencil gets used a lot in my craft room.  I used the stencil and orange distress oxide ink on a finger dauber to create this background.

4) On the last card I used some paw print paper I had in my stash.

Tip #1: If you have a single paw print rubber stamp you could use it to stamp all over a card front to create your background. Use one color or many.

Tip#2: If you have the TJ Paw Prints background stamp then of course that would work perfectly on these cards.

Tip#3: If you have a paw print embossing folder - rub ink from your ink pad on one side of it, add card stock carefully between the embossing folder, then run through your embossing machine. Now your paw prints have a little color and it makes a nice background for your card.

Idea: The My favorite breed stamp is perfect for animal lovers and animal rescues.  Did you know there are dog/cat animal rescues that like to receive handmade cards?  Reach out and ask them. I’ve donated dozens and dozens over the years to Three Sisters Pet Rescue in Cincinnati, Ohio. They use them for fundraising and Technique Junkies has the perfect stamps for rescue cards. I’ll list the ones I love below and if you like to watch videos I have one featuring many animal rescue card ideas @artcardswithaj

Dog hair is my GLITTER!

Hello TJ Stampers!

A trip to the vet with our sweet 13 year old dog Junior inspired me to dig out this funny Dog Hair is My Glitter stamp and some red glitter paper.  I seem to associate red glitter paper with the holidays, but not today!

So let's have some fun with the Dog Hair is My Glitter stamp. If you're a dog lover I KNOW you own some dog rubber stamps to go with it. But if you'd like this cute little dog I used on this card it's from Advice from a dog stamp. I like to get as much mileage out of my stamps as possible so I cut the dog out. To get the reverse image I stamped on a plastic sheet first, then applied my card stock.

If you'd like that paw print background I used here's the link for the paws stencil  or if you would prefer paw prints background stamp.  Save 10% off your purchase with code TJ10AJ

Woodland Wonders

   Hello!

It's my day to post here on the Technique Junkies Design blog, and I'd like to share three fun cards that I created, using some gorgeous November release stamps!

This first card front was stamped with a beautiful cinnamon colored ink, using 'S878 Woodland Wonders'. The panel was trimmed, and adhered to a card base. The sentiment 'SD1049 Advice from the Forest' was stamped on another piece of Kraft, trimmed, matted, and adhered to the card front panel. Ta-da, and Ta-done - clean and simple card!

The next card was also super easy. I cut a panel for the front of my card, and used the 'A Colorful Life 'Paws' Stencil', and some tan ink.  In the center of this panel, I stamped 'SD1049 Advice from the Forest' in brown ink, and cut it out of the center of the panel. The focal panel was matted and adhered to the background panel. Another quick card!

Last up was this clean and simple (CAS) card, created with the 'S878 Woodland Wonders', and a great sentiment set 'SS02b Simple Sentiments Set 2, Style b'. Image and sentiment were both stamped with brown ink, matted, and adhered to card base.

Technique Junkies stamps ink up beautifully, and make such nice cards!

This November release is amazing! So glad I could share it with you!
