Nesting Bird Card by A Bushel and a Hug

Happy Thursday Junkies!
Jerri here- Is everyone getting geared up for the Blog Hop?!  I know I am SUPER excited.  We have been busy bee's getting some fabulous creations made with the new May Release stamps.  You won't wanna miss a thing so make sure you check in here TOMORROW.

Today I am sharing a card made with the beautiful stamp called Nesting Bird.  As you may have figured out by now, I like to color.  I started off by stamping this image on some Kraft paper. I used a Memento ink pad in Cocoa.  I used my Copics to lay down a base color but I then used my colored pencils to really lay some color on the image. I wanted it to "pop" against the dark brown paper.
I created small rosettes using some of the leftover patterned paper (see the video below for a tutorial on how to make them). I colored the edges of my rosettes with a Copic marker and then used my Wink of Stella on them for some added shimmer.  I also used the Wink of Stella on the eggs and the flower of the stamped image as well.   I used a gold Copic Spica pen on the nest and tree branch.

I tried to zoom in so you could see the sparkle that the Spica pen provides.  It doesn't really show up as much as it does in person but I think you can see the little glimmers enough to get an idea.  I love that it looks like a small gold thread was woven through the nest.  I like that the Copic Spica pens have such a fine tip for making tiny hair thin lines.  I put them throughout the nest and along the branch.

I stitched around the card for added detail and then on the base of the easel card I used another great stamp called Hope is the Thing.  A beautiful quote from Emily Dickerson.

If you would like to learn how to make a rosette like the one's shown on this card check out this video.

I hope you enjoyed today's post and I hope you get a chance to check out our blog hop tomorrow!

Have a Beautiful Day!
Jerri

Art Journal Page by The Crafty Nurse

Hey Junkies!  The Crafty Nurse here sharing an art journal page using some gorgeous Technique Junkies Stamps called, Let's Face It 1 - #P006Classy Swirls #S505, and Mae West Sentiments #PS004.

I started by stamping Let's Face It on book paper with black archival ink and colored her in with Silks Acrylic Glaze.  To make the background I used a brayer to add Dina Wakely's acrylic paint and stamped the Classy Swirls, also with archival ink, but this time in Cobalt Blue. I didn't use the entire stamp, but portions of it while holding it in my hand. I then added some molding paste through stencils and applied the face on with gel medium.  I splattered both black and gold ink as well as edged the page with gold Krylon.  To highlight the molding paste I took Viva's Inka Gold Metallic Rub and applied it direct to paper with my fingers. I love that gold shimmer.  To ground my picture I added some Faber Castell Pitt Pen in brown around the image and smoothed it out with my fingers.  Because there was gel medium on the page if you work quickly, the ink moves well and allows a shadow to be developed without harsh lines.

I sure hope you've had a chance to visit the new Technique Junkies site as well as the Design Team blog, where there are some great tutorials.

Life is Like a Roller Coaster

Good morning stamping friends.  It's Beth Norman here with a very fun fold, and a favourite of mine, called Flap Fold.  I like to use this card as a gift card holder.  You can find this Flap Fold on the Fancy Folds & Motion Paper Crafts CD.

Don't you just love this Like a Roller Coaster stamp?  How true it is--one can either scream every time there is a bump or throw your hands up and enjoy the ride.

Thank you for stopping by.  Don't forget to come back to see what the design team has for you.

Where I Needed to Be

Hi, it's Gini, and I'm back to share with you a card that uses the gorgeous Vintage Ship Collage from the Palettini Collection. After I stamped the image, I added color using Spectrum Noir Blendable Color Pencils to the images, and then filled in the background with Distress Inks. The sentiment, Needed to Be, was stamped with VersaMark ink onto vellum and then heat embossed with gold.  I always like a little dimension on my cards, so I stamped the Butterfly 5 twice with the watermark ink, embossed them, cut and layered them.  Thanks for stopping by!

Stand Tall

Hey, there!  It's me again, Robin Redd (a.k.a. RockinReddRobin!)
Today, I'm sharing, with you, this card I made with this adorable giraffe stamp, Stand Tall #SD601.
Who doesn't love a giraffe, right?!
http://techniquejunkies.com/stand-tall/
I created the background using the Watercolor Paint Technique that I learned from the Sensational Stencil Technique CD.  Boy, there are SO many techniques on there I've never seen and I'm dying to try!

I used Art Anthologies Colorations to 'paint' the background, Grass and Guacamole.

I stamped the Stand Tall image with a Kaleidacolor stamp pad, Cappuccino Delight.

I hope I've inspired you to create something today!

Life Is a Roller Coaster....

{jane bosi}

Happy Thursday, Junkies!!  I am excited to share a new image with you today!!  When I received it, I actually giggled with joy and then, nodded my head in complete agreement!  Life is like a roller coaster!  Are you screaming or throwing your hands up in the air?  I admit, I do both!  LOL!

When I'm creating, though, my hands are up and enjoying the ride!  I started this project with a background technique found on the Bodacious Backgrounds CD.  This one is called It Takes Two--it's a fun and quick tutorial that leads to an interesting outcome!  You can view all of the backgrounds, plus find the CD link, in the Technique Junkie store or right here.

To create the illusion of movement, I stamped the Roller Coaster image three times without inking between.  Later, I used markers and sponged ink to fill in the white spaces.

That's it for today!  Thanks for stopping by--now, go get yourself inky!
TTFN and don't forget to be awesome!  Jane

It's Hip To Be Square

Good Tuesday morning everyone!  I'm Marilyn and I've got a couple of cute 4x4's, otherwise known as Fat Book Pages, to share with you today.  This is my first ever post to the blog and I am excited!

I started out with two 4x4 squares of watercolor paper, but cardstock would have worked just fine. I then laid out my 1" paper squares and glued them down.

Next, I stamped two awesome kitty stamps (I just love kitties!):  Meow Chicka (I laugh every time I see it) and Long Tail Retro Kitty (that's one cool cat) onto a piece of paper using black Versafine ink.

After fussy-cutting them out, I inked around the edges with black ink and then adhered them to my cards.  I then added my words, and other embellishments.

I hope you enjoyed today's little project and that it has given you some inspiration.  For more great stamps, visit the Technique Junkies website.

Until later.....................
Smiles~

Kitty Profile by Judy Jackson

Good day fellow stampers.  Don't you just love getting new stamps and new fun things to play with?  I do for sure.   So I am sharing a card made with a new stamp for Technique Junkie Stamps.  And if you are a cat lover -- well, you will surely love this new stamp as well!

This new stamp,  Kitty Profile, features the face of this lovely kitty.   It is stamped on watercolor paper with black pigment ink and embossed with black detail embossing powder. First I applied water first to the watercolor paper with a spray bottle. Then I added just swirls of water color paint through the water. That is how the various colors are achieved.  I dried the paper with my heat gun before stamping and embossing.  To color the eyes I used some Smooch paints and applied it the green with my aqua pen. Since it was painted over the yellows and oranges already on the paper, it gave the green a different look.

I stamped congratulations on vellum and tore it a bit. I was able to put the vellum through my X Xyron sticker maker to allow it to be adhered to the background.  A row of rhinestones, layering the focal image, and I was finished.

Have a wonderful day!  Get inky!

Coloring Spring...

If you receive the weekly email from Technique Junkies, you know that I am in love with the Art Anthology line of products. Today I am happy to show you more uses for the Dimensional Mediums, Colorations Sprays, and Stencils.  If you are not receiving my email on Fridays (TJ Inkspirations), email me at phuntoon@optonline.net and I will make sure that you get this week's email, and future emails, too.

It finally feels like spring here in Connecticut. It has been a long winter, and it is about time that the bushes and trees start flowering! Since the first of my Azalea bushes are starting to bloom,   I decided to celebrate all blooming things by using the Technique Junkies  Cherry Blossoms Stamp (SD294) along with the Forever and a Day Stamp (SD599) to celebrate spring's renewal.  I stamped both using Jet Black StazOn.
To add textural color, I painted the blossoms, leaves and branches with Persimmon Velvet, Limeaid Velvet, and Kenyan Copper Sorbet. I simply used a small paintbrush and cleaned it off between paint colors.

I dried the pant quickly using a set tool, then I prepared the background.

I simply placed the Retro Tile Stencil over my cardstock on my covered work surface. As an optional step, you might want to tape the stencil down with painter's tape; it keeps the stencil flat and the results are potentially better. (My painter's tape is packed with my classroom supplies in my booth for th tradeshow in Akron this weekend, and I didn't have the energy to excavate it!)

I used three Colorations sprays randomly on my piece: Waimea Bay, Juicy, and Grass.  As soon as all three were sprayed, I carefully removed the stencil.

Allow the piece to dry before matting the card pieces together.
Easy Peasy!

Check my blog tomorrow (http://patstamps.blogspot.com) for additional ideas for using the wonderful Art Anthology line of products.
Happy Spring!

Happy Saturday Junkies! Coffee Anyone?

Good morning Junkies! Pam here today! There isn't a better way to wake up on a beautiful spring Saturday morning than to the aroma of some fresh brewed coffee!  So today I am showcasing the Technique Junkies new April release stamp SD 498 Drinking Coffee.

If anyone has seen my blog or previous projects they certainly know how much I love the java!!  I also love working with the palette of colors  and textures that coffee stirs up - creams, browns, burlap, drip rings and all sorts of artistic effects.

For this card I started with a piece of glossy card stock for the  main focal image background and of course used a technique from one of Pat's fantastic CDs - Sensational Stencils. Alcohol Stencils.  This is such a fabulous technique because it combines the amazing colors of alcohol inks with your favorite stencil! For this I used the Crafter's Workshop Mini Paint Lids -to give the appearance of coffee drip rings in the background.   The stamp itself comes as all one large sentiment but I decided to cut it apart after stamping to better fit my project. To add some additional texture I layered the main piece onto a piece of Kraft core card stock (die cut with Sizzix postage stamp die), woven paper from DCWV, and finally onto a piece of corrugate card base.  I used a stencil and distress ink to add some larger drip rings to this piece as well.  Best of all I add a couple of real espresso beans- boy does this card smell good!

Hope you enjoyed having my morning coffee with me! Be sure to stop on over to the TJ website for this and more incredible stamps and technique CDs!
Thanks for joining me today!

Embrace Imperfection!

A Little about the paints...

There are three different and unique products in the line. The Sorbets are a Dimensional Medium that are transluscent and have a subtle sparkle that is just beautiful. They resist the Colorations Sprays.

The Velvets are matte and slightly less translucent. They also resist the Colorations sprays.

The Clear Coats are translucent gel mediums that have either a gold, silver, iridescent or frost pearl finish. Again, they resist the Colorations sprays when dried.

The Colorations are Matte sprays that can be used on any porous surface.

All of the paints and sprays may be air dried, or dried with a heat tool.

Coming Next Week...

Stamping and Coloring Vintage and Realistic Stamps

Dear Pat,
Sometimes you try a new product and just simply fall in love. It has been like that for me with the Art Anthology line of products. The Dimensional Mediums and Stencils are a perfect marriage with stamps. I love that I can use them for an elegant look, or for something more grungy, both with gorgeous effects.

I have two Techniques below, and there will be more ideas posted to my blog (patstamps.blogspot.com) and the Design Team Blog (techniquejunkies.blogspot.com) over the course of this week. We have plenty of ideas for you! Don't forget that the Sensational Stencils CD is filled with plenty of ideas, too.

I would love to share my love for these with you! All of the Art Anthology products will be 10% off until next Friday (4-24-15). Read on for some tutorials, and then consider joining our contest for a $75.00 shopping spree, too!

Color and Resist
This is a technique that we are doing as a Make and Take in our booth all this year (with a couple of exceptions).
Start by stamping an image in cardstock (we are using a tag here) in StazOn ink. Our Example uses Let's Face It 1 from the Palettini Line.
As an optional step, the hair, lips and eyes of the stamp were painted to add interest. The beauty of the Art Anthology paints is that they resist the Spray Colorations Limeaid Velvet was used on the eyes, and Desire was
used on the lips, and Portobello was used for her hair). they have a raised texture when dry. After the eyes and lips are dry (you can dry them with a heat tool), Paint on a Clear Coat (Dazzle was used here - it has a golden sparkle). Dry with

a heat tool or air dry.
Spray Colorations (We used Waimea Bay, Grape Soda, and Grass on our Creation) over the entire piece, including the areas that were previously painted. Let the spray soak in a little, then wipe the face off with a cloth. The color from the spray will wipe right off!
Time to bring out the stencils! To add a word, phrase or image over the dried piece, use a Stencil brush and Sorbet or Velvet paint (Kenyan Copper Sorbet was used here, over the Soliloquy Stencil)  to paint through the stencil. Make certain to hold the stencil firmly.

Carefully remove the stencil and allow the piece to dry!

Instant Vintage
This easy technique is one that I am going to pull out over and over. It may be  the only time that I am happy to age instantly!

With just two Colorations sprays, Sandcastle (Salted Caramel also works)  and Raider, you can instantly add a vintage look to your work.

To start, we stamped the Travel Documents Stamp on our cardstock with StazOn ink.

We then sprayed the Sandcastle Colorations over the entire piece, then spritzed two or three times randomly on the cardstock with Raider. Use a heat tool or air dry, and complete as desired!

I hope you are a little inkspired by today's issue. See you next week!

Sincerely,

Pat Huntoon
