There for You!

I get to share the last card of the month! I used both Leaves & Dragonflies and Gnomies Forever to create this elegant card to send to someone (male or female) to let them know they have someone in their corner.

It was a very easy card to create. I simply used Versamark to stamp the Leaves & Drangonflies backgorund, then heat set with gold embossing powder. I trimmed the panel down into three panels (I cut off an extra smidge so I could have a nice gutter between the panels). I adhered them to a kraft card base. On another piece of kraft, I stamped the sentiment from the Gnomies Forever set. I trimmed a "v" on one end and wrapped the other with twine. This was attached to the card using foam tape.

A very simple card, yet so pretty IRL.

Be sure to come back tomorrow for the October release! There are a bunch of awesome new stamps that you are not going to want to miss!

Wicked Halloween

 Hi there!

I'm happy to be here on the Technique Junkies Design blog today, and I'd like to share a fun (easy!) card with you. This was made using a fun Halloween sentiment from the September release, 'Wicked Halloween'.

I don't know about you, but I love a card that comes together in mere minutes, but looks like it took all day - this was one of those kinds of cards!  I looked at this sentiment, and wasn't quite sure how to make it work. I glanced over at my box of TJ stamps, and there was the burst Background stamp. Aha, I said to myself!

I stamped the Burst Background onto a white panel, using black Versamark ink. On a white scrap, I stamped Wicked Halloween, also using black Versamark for a good crisp look. Using some Halloween colors and my Ink Blending Brushes, I blended over the background. I stenciled over the top of the sentiment, and used the same colors and Ink Blending Brushes, I blended over the sentiment panel. Matted and popped up the sentiment, matted the focal panel and adhered to card base - done!

This September release has been pretty awesome! Can't wait to share October with you!

Quoth The Raven, "Nevermore"

The Ephemeral Crow is very appropriate for this time of year.  After stamping the crow I die cut a circle  post it note and layered it where I wanted it to be the moon behind the crow.  Then I sponged navy ink over all the rest of the crow.  I removed the circle and place the rest of the post it note over the navy ink around the crow, and sponged in yellow for the moon.

The background is NOT a stamp.  I googled the poem by Edgar Allan Poe and chose section to print out on white card stock.  I then used the Cloud Edger  stencil from A Colorful Life Designs to create the clouds over the poem.  This is by no means the entire poem as it is long! I used navy and a grayish green and a gray ink colors to create the clouds.

Then to top it off, I gave it a quick spritze of Dazzle Shimmering Bliss Topper.

Slimline Autumn Blessings

Hi Junkies!  It's Holly posting today, and I created a slimline card to share with y'all.  I started by brushing some brown, red, orange, and yellow inks onto a piece of white cardstock cut to 8.25" x 3.25".  The ink blending brushes from Technique Junkies are perfect for brushing and blending inks on your cardstock.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the Autumn Framed Sentiments in the center with Pinecone Versafine Clair ink.  I then filled in the space around the sentiment by stamping all the different leaves from the Autumn set with Pinecone ink.  This piece was adhered to a dark brown card base that is 8.5" x 3.5".  Because this is a flat card, I can mail this card in a regular business #10 envelope with just one stamp.

Feel free to use my code, TJ10Holly, to save 10% off your entire order at Technique Junkies.  Happy Fall!

Lose My Mind

I stamped Seashells and Coral with white pigment ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.  Then I sprayed it several shades of Shimmering Bliss sprays.   And added embossing glaze over the top of that.  It gives a rich deep color.   I did the same techniques with Find My Soul

TJ Inkspirations: Layered Leaves Shimmering Tapestry

When I originally made this piece, I stopped before I added the shimmer. The background was nice, but it just lacked that extra special "thing." So, of course, I added shimmer to the piece, and a little more ink, to create a background that mimics an old fabric tapestry. If you have watched my videos in the past, you know that I love my Shimmering Bliss Sprays!

Our piece only uses one stamp, the Leaf Group stamp. Pretty simple, really!

Kitty Mug Shot - Half Dead Animals

You know it's true if you have a cat. They love to bring their trophies inside.  Sometimes dead, sometimes not-so-much.  I have a friends who has a chipmunk problem - because her cat repeatedly brings them in her house. Her cat also brings in headless rabbits and leaves them under her son's bed. Such a joyful habits her cats have. EWWW!

In any case, this is better on a card than in real life, don't you think? Our Kitty Mug Shot is on a Leaf Circles Background.

Tell me your half-dead-animals-in-the-house stories!

TJ Inkspirations: Double Colored Fall Leaves

Growing up in Western NY and then moving to Connecticut (30 years ago!) has given me a great appreciation for the beauty of autumn's colors.  So many people have to travel to see the leaves and trees that I see just looking out of my kitchen window. It's no wonder that fall is my favorite season!

Today's tutorial celebrates those fall colors. The video below shows you how easy it is to layer watercolors over Shimmering Bliss with amazing results!

Don't forget that you can still take advantage of the discount on the Shimmering Bliss Sprays: Buy 5 sprays and get the 6th FREE. No discount code is necessary - the discount will applied automatically at checkout. Just place 6 sprays in your cart and one will be free!

I Shredded the Toilet Paper...

  Hi there!

It's my day to post on the Technique Junkies Design blog! and I'm here to share two cute cards that I've made using some great September release stamps!

This is the best set ever!  Kitty Mug Shot is a set of EIGHT stamps! You get the kitty holding the sign, and SEVEN fun sentiments! You know you need  gotta have  want this one!

I used an older background stamp 'Brickwork' for the panel. One of the fun sentiments was stamped at the bottom edge. Next, I stamped the kitty, colored with alcohol markers, and slit the bottom edge of the sign with an Xacto knife.  A scrap of toilet paper was happy to be shredded and placed behind this strip (as well as a couple of strips behind the black mat). This was adhered to the Brickwork panel. Everything was layered onto the card base....fun!!!

This card began by stenciling the white card base. I used a citrus green ink, and 'A Colorful Life Crocodile' (no longer in store). Then I rubbed a bit of gray all over to 'grunge' it up.  The focal panel was the Brickworks stamp, stamped in gray, with a few glittery bats for texture. A new September stamp, 'Witch Switch' was stamped onto the brick panel, then again onto green and purple designer papers. The legs and boots were fussy cut, and paper pieced onto the stamped image. I grunged up a scrap of cheesecloth, added it to the back, and adhered the panel with pop dots. Love the way this one turned out!

Hope these have inspired you to get inky!

This September release has been amazing! Wait until you see October's!!!

This were so easy to create, and perfect for the turmoil in our world today! Hope you will take a look at this wonderful sentiment set!

FRAMED FOR CATNIP

Oh my gosh! I am so in love with the Kitty Mug Shot set. I have been having so much fun making cards. I think this one is my favorite yet, though!
KITTY MUG SHOT (SS112)
VINTAGE DICTIONARY (P012)

If you look closely, you can see it's a very dimensional card. Four layers! The white frame is popped up on the base (layers 1 and 2). The cat is popped up (layer 3). And the sign is popped up (layer 4).

To create the card, I stamped Vintage Dictionary onto kraft cardstock, trimmed it down, inked the edges with brown ink, then attached to a kraft card base.  I then stamped the Kitty Mug Shot in brown in onto white cardstock three times and colored them. The first one I used for the frame base and cut it out with a die cut. The second I trimmed out only the cat. And the third I trimmed out only the paws and sign. Each were attached with foam tape.

I am lovin' it!!! This set is so fun! It comes with seven different sentiments.

Aren't they a hoot?

I hope you are enjoying the change of weather. As the days get cooler and shorter, spend more time in your craft space. Make cards! If you are looking to add to your stash, you can save on the purchase of your stamps from TJ. Simply enter the code below at checkout!

Kitty Mug Shot against the wall

The fastest way to a make a colorful brick wall is to spray it! I used pixie spray on the Brick Wall Stencil and sprayed with Worn Saddle and Wine Stain Shimmering Bliss Sprays; they were topped off with a dash of Harvest Sunset Shimmering Bliss. I added some paws from the Paws Stencil with brown ink, and topped it off with the focal image Kitty Mug Shot cat colored with colored pencils. I can't get enough of that cat! Have fun with this one!

Don't forget - the Buy 5, Get the 6th Free offer is still valid on the Shimmering Bliss Sprays!

Fun with Modern Circles

Hi Junkies!  It's Holly posting today, and I'm sharing these fun cards I created with the new Modern Circles stamp set.  I truly had a blast making all kinds of different cards with this new circle set.  Some cards just had a few different circles on them while other cards were exploding with colors and sizes and patterns, such as the card below.

Isn't that fun??  You can spend all day making all kinds of backgrounds with these circles and every single one will be totally unique.  No two will be alike.

You can also just stick with one color for all the different circles like you see in my card below.

There are just so many different possibilities with these circles.  These are so fun and easy to play with.  You really can't go wrong with some paper, some ink pads, and this Modern Circles set.

Card #1 - Gratitude

Card #2 - Happy Birthday

Card #3 - Small Steps

TJ Inkspirations: Shimmering and Contrasting Modern Circles

Sometimes I make a stamp or a stamp set and while I am making it I already have an idea of what I want to do with it. The Modern Circles Set is one of those times, and this technique is exactly what I was thinking when I made it.

The video below shows you how to make a contrasting, shimmering background, and I have set up some little kits in case you would like to make it for yourself. I did NOT include inks with the kit since I used Distress Oxide inks and I believe they are pretty common.

In addition to the kits, you can also take advantage of a discount on the Shimmering Bliss Sprays: Buy 5 sprays and get the 6th FREE. No discount code is necessary - the discount will applied automatically at checkout.

Here is the artwork for the video, the little kits, and the video (more artwork after the video, too):
