The Crafty Nurse here with some metallic mid-week inspiration using a stamps from the July Release. You have until July 9th to get 15% off any of the July Release stamps.

I don't know about you, but as a true technique junkie, I have oodles of supplies. When I lived up in the New Jersey area I had the good fortune to go to the annual Ranger warehouse sale in Tinton, New Jersey.  If you live anywhere near that area I recommend checking it out.  They usually announce the sale dates for the fall event on the Ranger Blog and Facebook.

Today, I'm using inks from one of my adventures called, Posh Rainbow Metallic Inks by Ranger.  I applied them on my nonstick mat and dipped in. I love using this technique with Distress Inks too and Pat has the Distress Oxides in the store.  The technique of dipping can be found on the Artistic Effects CD.

After creating a fabulous background I stamped "Positive Mind SD7809" with Archival Ink on a separate piece of card stock and applied Distress Inks in Seedless Preserves for color.

To further isolate the sentiment, I created a frame using Recollections chipboard painted with more of the metallic inks. I popped up the frame with foam tape and added a shaker window.

Dreams of a Watercolored Mermaid

The Crafty Nurse "swimming" by to share some mid-week inspiration using stamps from the Technique Junkies June release. You still have a few days to receive 15% percent off this great release over at the Technique Junkies store.

The background for my card is from Sensational Stencils CD called Distress Stain Dip.  I changed it up to use Distress Paint instead of stains in the colors Broken China, Mermaid Lagoon and Wild Honey.  I added a wave texture using a Tim Holtz Stencil then added additional distress ink around the edges.

For the focal image, I stamped "Mermaid on Rock" onto 140lb. watercolor paper with Archival Ink.  I colored my mermaid using Windsor Newton Watercolor markers and added highlights with prismacolor pencils.  Adding pencils over watercolor is a great way to add depth to your coloring.

Dog Lovers Unite!

Hey Fellow Junkies!

The Crafty Nurse here today with another card from our March 2017 release. Spring and sprung and as we appreciate the beauty of our surroundings, we here at the blog hope you find time to reflect that beauty in an artistic way.

This card is for our dog lovers in the group!  Sorry cat peeps!  You have to admit it's pretty darn funny through.....

The focal image called "Can't Afford The Cat SD764" is simply stamped with Versafine Black Onyx Ink using my MISTI tool, then heat embossed with an application of Distress Inks in Wild Honey and Gathered Twigs over the top.  I used "Paid In Full #P027", a Palettini Collection stamp as way to add additional text for the background of both focal and background images.

Strike a Pose!

Hey Junkies!

The Crafty Nurse back with some inky inspiration for this wonderful almost spring day!  This is such a beautiful time of year filled with new hope and promise of beautiful things to come.

Along that thought, I wanted to share my favorite stamp of the new March 2017 release called, "Queen SD787".  Such a striking figure, right?  To create her I used my MISTI.  Stampers, if you don't have one of these tools, run, don't walk.  I resisted for a long time but once I got one I wish I'd done so a lot earlier.  They really making getting good impressions so easy to achieve and the techniques that you can do with these are just amazing.

For the focal image, I began by selecting the areas I wanted brown and I used Distress Markers in Gathered Twigs to color just those areas.  I had to do this multiple times, but that's okay because the MISTI allows for perfect alignment.  Once I did that, I repeated the areas I wanted black, coloring those with Black Soot and then the lips in Fired Brick.  Now, here comes the really cool part. Apply clear embossing powder to your entire image and heat set.  Now your entire image is resistant allowing for any application of technique over it.

The final step for my focal image is application of Faced Jeans Distress Ink through the Art Anthology Cracked Stencil cool, right? For the background I used a version of Distressed Stain Dip from the Artistic Effects CD also using Faded Jeans and Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  Finally, I added another TJ stamp to the edge of my background called, "Bubble Icicle #S573", which I also stamped using my MISTI with Archival Ink.

Love Is In The Air

We are fast approaching Valentine's Day and Technique Junkies has come out with some great stamps for this loved occassion.

It's The Crafty Nurse here today with a card celebrating love using some of the January Release Technique Junkies stamps. 

My card today features the January Release sentiment, "Life Complete SDX069" stamped in Versafine Onyx Black Ink and clear heat embossed.  The background technique used is "Distress Stain Dip from the Artistic Effects CD" using Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon, and Squeezed Lemonade.  I then used a Simon Says Stamp heart die and alternated card stock for the center pieces.

I hope this provides a little inspiration for you to create a love card for your sweetie.

Ann here with some distress

Distress Stain Dipping that is!!

This is a card that I created for an upcoming class I'm teaching at Tigard Main Street Stamp and Stationery in Oregon.  The class attendees will be learning 6 different techniques to use with distress inks, refills, and stains.  The image from Stampendous uses the distress ink watercoloring technique as well.  Fun being able to coordinate your background papers with your image! 

Give these techniques a try.  They are both easy and fun!

Holly Brown: Distress Stain Dip Postage

Hi folks!  It's Holly posting today, and I'm sharing this vintage-style Distress Stain Dip card.  I stamped the whole postage stamp onto my Distress Stain Dip panel, and then I cut out the bird collage and paper pieced it onto the same postage image stamped on white cardstock.  This Distress Stain Dip technique is so much fun - you never get the same look twice!  You can find this technique in the latest issue, Oct/Nov 2012.
