Happy Wednesday!

I really love big sentiment stamps.
My card uses a fun new set caller Modern Encouragements (set of 4). I made a really easy background using a stencil (Dragon Skin from A Colorful Life Designs) and Shimmering Bliss sprays (Imperial Yellow & Mermaid ).

1. I sprayed the whole background with Imperial Yellow and then made a copy paper mask and sprayed the side with Mermaid

2. I stamped the sentiment on top with black ink.

3. I added white Nuvo drops for a little texture.

How to Make a Criss Cross Card

Today's tutorial uses two stamps:  Birthday Queen and You are Extraordinary.  You can get these, or any other regularly-priced stamp at 10% off by using the code TJ10Beth.

Hello fellow stampers.  Today, I have for you, an oldie but goodie Criss Cross tutorial.  I wanted to do something unique with my Birthday Queen stamp, so I decided to make a bookmark.  I have five of these images, stamped out on Kraft, and coloured, to turn into bookmarks.  Isn't that a fun idea?!
  • Two 4 1/4" x 11" cardstock for base
  • One 1 1/2" x 12" for band
  • One 4" x 5" double-sided designer paper or Two one-sided paper
  • One 3 1/2" x 4 4 3/4" white/ivory cardstock
  • One 3 3/4" x 5 1/4" cardstock for inside mat
Using 4 1/4" x 11" base cardstock, score two pieces at 5 1/2".  Using card base #1, from score line, cut on an angle from top  of the score line to bottom left.  Using card base #2, cut from score line to bottom right.
Using 4 1/4" x 11" base cardstock, score two pieces at 5 1/2". Using card base #1, from score line, cut on an angle from top of the score line to bottom left. Using card base #2, cut from score line to bottom right. Place adhesive side to the top of the other piece of cardstock.  The bottom should level.

Place Designer Paper in paper cutter and cut paper on an angle.  Ensure the cut goes from tip-to-tip. Repeat again if you have single-side paper.
You should have two pieces cut as above.
Adhere Designer Paper to the top of the triangular shaped sides of cardstock.  Your piece should look like this.
Using heavy duty tape, such as Red Line tape, place tape along the bottom, and up the side for approx 1 1/2".  On the right side repeat with tape going along the bottom and up approximately 1 1/2".
Fold in the right panel and press firmly to adhere the adhesive to the cardstock.  Place left panel over the right panel and press hard.  Adhere neutral carstock to coloured matt.  Stamp a sentiment inside on your inside panel.  Here I used You are Extraordinary.
Score the elongated Designer Paper at 5 5./8" x 11 1/4".  Add heavy duty tape to the end of the elongated Designer Paper.  Place it between the outside and the score line. Slide band over your card.
Embellish your band as desired.

Queen For A Day Card

Hello, and happy Sunday!  I hope you are enjoying your weekend.  I have a card today from the January Release.  I shared a different card I had made with the same stamp previously.  You can see that here.

Now, on to today's card....
I used the Birthday Queen stamp.  I colored it with Polychromos colored pencils, cut it out, and added it to a panel of patterned paper.  I added the panel to a white A2 card front.

Some vintage photo distress ink around the edges finish off the card.

I just love this little kitty's face!  She reminds me of our kitty, Bella, who is definitely the queen of this house!

Be sure to check out Pat's post and video on the new foils. You can use them with and without heat!!!  You can find the post/video HERE. AND, save 10% off your entire order, including the foils, by using my code TJ10Lynda!
Thanks for stopping by.  Enjoy your Sunday!

TJ Inkspiration: Foils with and without Lamination

I am so excited about today's video. First and foremost because I have the great pleasure of announcing the addition of our graphics-quality Heat Transfer Foil to the Technique Junkies product line-up.

Our foil comes in 10 gorgeous colors. Each roll is a whopping 4" x 25' (that is 25 FEET, not inches), and can make up to 50 card backgrounds from one roll! Check out the store to see our initial color selection.

BUT - don't let the name fool you. Even though this foil is a Heat Transfer foil, you can also use it for non-heat applications.  In today's video, I show you how to do just that! Today's video shows you how to use Heat Transfer Foil with stencils using both a Laminator AND just a die cut machine (I used my Big Shot) with ThermoWeb's new Transfer Gel DUO (also in the store). Of course, you can always use toner products with our foil, too!

I hope you love these as much as I do!

Here is  the video:

I hope you are a little inkspired by today's issue. See you next week!

Butterfly Beauty

With all the dull winter weather we've been having here in the Michigan area, I needed something a little brighter to lift my spirits. Enter Butterfly Beauty (SD829).  I simply adore this large butterfly.

The card and sentiment kind of brightened my day, and I hope it will brighten the recipient's as well.

To create the card, I started with an orange A2 card base. On a piece of white CS, using my MISTI, I stamped the butterfly twice so I could get a good, solid impression. I used colored pencils to color in the various areas of the Butterly, then blended using a Nuvo Glitter Gloss Aqua Pen.

I trimmed down the panel to 5 ¼" by 4". I then stamped the sentiment from the set Simple Sentiments 3A (SS03a) and added a few jewels and some blown marker spray to finish off the design. Then I just popped that whole panel onto my card using foam tape.

I really am loving these Simple Sentiment sets (there are quire a few of them in different fonts, black with white lettering, white with black lettering and vertical). Each set has 13 individual sentiments. One of the best purchases I've made. Great for every event you want to cover, in many styles. I am never at a loss to convey that perfect sentiment on the front (or inside!) of my cards.

Here is a peak at all of them that are available:

Simple Sentiments 3A
Simple Sentiments 1B

Simple Sentiments 1A
Simple Sentiments 3C

Simple Sentiments 1C
Simple Sentiments 2C

Simple Sentiment 2B
Simple Sentiments 2A

Simple Sentiments 3B
That's a lot! Am I right? And the good news is that you can save 10% on these, or any other product (including the MISTI!) on the Technique Junkies website. Just enter the code below at checkout and your discount will be applied.

Hope you had some fun learning about all these wonderful stamp sets. Thanks for stopping by!

Til next time,
Keepin' it inky!
