Waxy Window

Hi bloggers, Ann Clack here!  This coming week the Technique of the week is Waxy Window.  So, I thought I'd start the week off with a fresh simple sample of Waxy Window.  I've been on a mission to try and use some of my stamps that have NSI.....Never Seen Ink!  I'm sure that some of you have this problem too!  The stamps are from Stampin' Up!  I know that they aren't new but they hadn't been used until today!  I wanted some colors that remind me of the later days of summer so picked a red flower with some orange in the design too.  A little hand drawing around the inner border of the mask made the image pop out a little more.  Enjoy!

Paw Patrol Ombre

Ann Clack here today!!  Saturday is my youngest grandson's birthday.  Zander is in love with Paw Patrol and I thought this week's technique called Ombre Frames would be perfect for the German Shepherd, Chase! I thought that it would be fun to have Chase popping out of the frame.  I cut the inside a little off center to accommodate the shield. Found a '6' already cut out for the front and some clipart for the dog and shield.  I hope that Z loves it!  Enjoy!

Punched Border Flamingo

Today my granddaughters got to spend the evening with us while their parents went to the Blazer playoff game here in Portland.  I needed to make a card for the blog today so I enlisted their help.

They chose the image, then the colors and the border punch.  I colored the image and added the stenciling.  They helped color the prima flowers with the copic air brush system and voila! and darling bird-day card!  They are still busy down in the stamp hole coloring their own flamingos!

I hope you enjoy.  My favorite part is the stenciling.

A little "Off"

Today's card uses the technique called Dye Whitewash from the August 2013 issue.  I had a couple of friends over for a Friday stamp day and we decided to give this technique a try.  I really love the subtle color that it gives to the image.  While playing with the technique, we used my friend's white detail embossing powder.

Tonight as I finished the card up with a sentiment, I grabbed my white detail embossing powder.  Who knew that White Detail embossing powder would have different whites.  Sheesh!  Mine is more "Off" white than real white.  So.....what was I to do.....my sentiment was Off White and the image was White.....       So, I decided to make the card base and the butterflies in off white as well so that it didn't look like a mistake.  It worked out fairly well, making the image popping more from the card.

Glitter ribbons

Ann Clack here with a couple of glitter ribbons cards.  The pink and blue one was for my granddaughter who turned 11.  She LOVED all the sparkle.  It matched her new room to boot!

The blue and white one was made during at our FSF group.  Friends Stamp Friday seems to have become a regular occurrence her the last couple of months.  I originally invited one friend to come and stamp...then it became two........then three.  Then four!  At least it makes me get the house cleaned.    The cupcakes on both cards are removable.  You can place them on a mirror, votive, or anything smooth and non-porous.

Simply Framed

Good Morning!  Ann Clack here with a easy, quick technique from the August/Sept Technique Junkie newsletter.  This is a technique called simply framed.  If you need a card with lots of pop and without layers (for mailing), this is a great technique.   Since the card was white, it tended to disappear on the blog post, so I created a black digital border. 

The flower and swirl are by Stampendous.  I was tickled to use the flower.  It was the first time that stamp has seen ink!  The butterfly is from Sweet & Sassy Stamps.  They are a TJ advertiser and right now they are in the middle of one of their new releases!  Head on over there and check it out!! 

Flocked Lines

Hi, Junkies.....Ann Clack here with a submission to one of the techniques of the week....Flocked Lines.  I was searching through my stamps for one that I wanted to use for this technique when this Hampton arts stamp jumped out at me.  It just seemed perfect for the technique even though it wasn't a flourish like some of the samples.  Wanted to keep it CAS since the flocking is really the star!!  Instead of gluing on the ribbon, I punched to small holes in the cardstock and tied it on.  You know it won't fall off that way!!

Pressed Stains Flower

Hi, Stampers!!  Ann Clack here.

My technique today is Pressed Stains.  No........I'm not ironing!!  Pressed Stains is a super fun technique from the most recent issue of the Technique Junkie newsletter.  I had a friend over to stamp on Friday.........Laura and I had a lot of fun.  She brought a hostess stamp set from SU and we colored up the Flower with copics.  Then we made the backgrounds to match the flowers.  I had one flower already colored up from the week before and had put a blue background around it.  The backgrounds we had made didn't have any blue and it looked really funny with them.  So......I made another background using a little blue and it was just perfect.  I love how every background is just a little different.  I hope you enjoy!  I included all four....I just couldn't decide which one I wanted to do the most!  Sorry...the scan was a little off.  The Hero Arts sentiment stamp had stamped the edge under the words and I thought it looked like it was supposed to be there so I stamped three more like it.

Stained Embossing by Ann

Ann Clack here!  Last Saturday came and went and my scheduled post was way in the back of my memory!!  I claim that my vacation to Oklahoma as my excuse!!  Ha!

The Technique of the Week was Embossed Gelatos but.....since I don't own any of those, I chose a different technique for you!!

STAINED EMBOSSING!

I really LOVE this technique.  It really has a lot of interest and it quite easy to do....AND get a lovely result. 

This card would be perfect for a man.  No stamping at all!

Ann here with more distress!

A couple of weeks ago I shared a card made for an upcoming class I'm teaching on Distress pads, refills, and stains.  Here is the second card that they will be making in their class. 

It uses Distress Ink Watercoloring as well as Distress Spritzing.  I LOVE that Distress spritzing technique.  So easy with a great look!

Hero Arts stamp was color with the refills and glittered for some extra punch.  The MS butterfly just has three dabs of gold glitter down the middle.  The ribbon is quite gold and got really faded out on the picture.  I was at the store dropping off the samples when I realized that I hadn't taken pictures of the cards.  Phone cameras aren't that good!

Distress Stain Dipping that is!!

This is a card that I created for an upcoming class I'm teaching at Tigard Main Street Stamp and Stationery in Oregon.  The class attendees will be learning 6 different techniques to use with distress inks, refills, and stains.  The image from Stampendous uses the distress ink watercoloring technique as well.  Fun being able to coordinate your background papers with your image!

Christmas is coming soon so here are a couple of quickie gift card holders.  I made these for a friend who needed them for gift giving.  I altered the original directions to make the card a little wider.  Hope you enjoy and are inspired to make some gift card holders of your own.  The blue flower is from a stamp set I got from Gina K Designs.  The iris stamp is one of the first stamps I ever purchased in 1987 from Personal Stamp Exchange.....still love that stamp!  It is colored with copics.

Ann here with a cute Snowman card

Ann Clack here today.  Okay....Thanksgiving is over so we can now look forward to Christmas!  Here is a darling Snowman card I'll be teaching to a class.  The snowman is colored using the TJ technique called Distress Ink Watercoloring.  Really easy with great results.  The background of the card is made using the TJ technique called Distressed Spritzing.  I used a stencil from The Crafter's Workshop.  The snowflake is a punch from EK Success.  Hope you enjoy!

Ann's Inky Bands

Ann Clack here!  Inky Bands is from the most recent TJ newsletter.  I've had that wide ribbon for absolutely ages.  It was just a little too wide for most of my cards so it just sat.  Then I saw a cool technique using felt, folded, snipped and attached to an adhesive circle.  I thought....Hey!  I could do that with this wide ribbon too!  It isn't felt but it should work just the same.  I think it made a pretty cool flower.  After the flower was made the Inky Bands technique seemed a natural to compliment the colors of the ribbon.  The panel looked a little lonely, so I drew random lines around the outside edge.  The Hero Arts sentiment finished it off.  Hope you enjoy!

In the Middle Sympathy

Ann Clack here with a technique from the most recent newsletter.  This is called In the Middle.  I changed it up a little by using a border stamp instead of drawing a line.  I think it jazzes is up a little.  Sometimes your mistakes make something even better!  I originally punched the bottom of the panel but my punching wasn't much to be desired so I cut it off.  After punching a better scallop edge on a separate piece of paper, I cut it narrow and mounted below the original panel.  I like it better this way!  In retrospect I could have put little pearls on each scallop for some bling.  Maybe I will!  Hope you enjoy.  The green swirl is from Prickly Pear stamps.  I really love that swirl!!  The purple flowers and blue butterflies are from an Inkadinkado set....same with the border.  The words (there are some on the inside that go with the outside sentiment are unknown.  I got them at a Rubber Stamp Convention ages ago.  I know this because they have the hook and loop on the back of them.  That was the first type of unmounteds that I did.  Now I just use Tack N Peel with bare rubber.  Much easier!

Glitter Ribbons

Ann Clack here with a quick little card using Glitter Ribbons.  Today is the birthday party for my granddaughter, Breauna.    This piece of glitter ribbons technique was calling to me as it matched her package.  I added a bunch of stars since the inside says "You're the star of the day!"   Naturally, the glitter is sooo much prettier in real life!

My tip of the day to you is.......when you get the TJ newsletter pick a couple of the techniques that you know will take some time and might be messy.  Make lots of the backgrounds and store them away for those days when you need something quick.  Make sure you mark the name of the technique on the back of the piece.

Chris Dickinson was to be here for today's post.  I'm filling in for me while she attends to family matters.  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she deals with the unexpected death of her sister. 

Today's card uses the uber simple Technique Junkie technique called curled corners (Feb 2011).  It really gave this card the added umph that it needed.  The flower is a Gina K stamp.  The sentiment is a really cool set from Stamp Camp (who.....BTW......will be a new vendor for the TJ newsletter!!!!).    Hope you enjoy.

Yeow!

Hey, Junkies!  Ann Clack here!  Today is the birthday party for my grandson who is turning 4.  His favorite TV program is Octonauts, a darling cartoon about 8 animal friends who live in the Octopod in the ocean.  They go on adventures and discover all kinds of different sea creatures.  They end up helping them along the way.  The only problem is that all Octonaut things are sold in the UK or Australia.  So......I found this darling image from a free coloring sheet from one of the UK sites.  Since they live in the ocean, I used a piece of Simple Sumi (a Technique Junkie technique) for the background since it looked like water.  It is hard to tell but I layered the head and shoes and double layered the hat, eyepatch and nose area.  I hope my grandson loves his Kwazii (the cat) card!  Kwazii's favorite saying is Yeow!

Ann's Dotty Edges

Ann Clack here with a cute little Sailor Girl from Peddler's Pack!  I used the Dotty Edges technique from the most recent newsletter.  She is colored with copic markers.  The background was made by spraying my copic marker on white paper then spattering it with a slightly darker color.  This card was used as a sample in my upcoming copic class!  Hope you enjoy this monochromatic card!

Cut Borders by Ann

Welcome to a beautiful Saturday.  I'm Ann Clack!  As a designer, we always see the tutorials several months in advance.  We are assigned several techniques as well as several we pick of our own.  I didn't get to work on this technique yet called Cut Borders.  So easy and really fun! 

I love how this card came out.  The stamp set (shells) is by Stampin Up.  The words are computer generated.  The blue paper to the side is from Paper Temptress and boy oh boy........it is absolutely wonderful.  Just a hint of sparkle and perfect for making you think of sparkling sand!
