Come Sit on the Porch

Come sit on the porch.  The weather may be hot but the drinks are cold.

This is such a wonderful stamp.  I just love these background sentiment stamps that Technique Junkies sell.  This one is called Sit on the Porch.  I'm giving this to a girlfriend to tell her my cozy balcony, complete with cozy seating and many cushions, will soon be open for a visit.

I think we are all trying to get used to COVID and social distancing, especially on our porch's and balconies.

Have a great week!

Last day of Christmas in July!

Today is the last day of Christmas in July! The coupon for 25% off all Christmas stamps will expire at midnight on Juy 27th (today). Don't miss out on the savings! Use code JULYXMAS to save.

Today's card uses Just Squeezed, Festive Flamingo, Silver and Thulian Pink Shimmering Bliss in the background. To add dashes of silver, I took the nozzle off and tapped the straw end onto the card stock to make splashes.  The focal image is Perfect Blend - colored with colored pencils and the words traced with Kaisercraft Glitter Markers.

I hope you have enjoyed our Christmas in July event - I will be announcing the winner of the random drawing with tomorrow's post!

Christmas in July - last two days!

We are in the last two days of Technique Junkies' Christmas in July, and I have a one layer card for you today!

I used the Silent Night Stamp with brown ink on Kraft card stock, then Over-stamped it with the holly from the Season's Greetings Set. I colored the holly sprig with alcohol markers, then used Diamond Glaze over the top (also known as Glass Glaze, Glossy Accents, etc) to give it a shiny 3-D texture.

Today and tomorrow are the last two days to save 25% on Technique Junkies Christmas stamps using the code JULYXMAS. Don't miss out!

Have a great Sunday,
Pat Huntoon

Tropical Pal Fronds

Hi there!

It's my day to post on here the Technique Junkies Design blog, and I wanted to share three cards using some of the wonderful July release products!

This first card uses an awesome new background stamp, 'Tropical Palm Fronds'. I stamped the sentiment 'A Good Friend' on the focal panel, then cut an oval mask to go over it. I then stamped the background, added a whisp of cheesecloth and a unique die cut. Mounted the panel on green cardstock...done!

I love making cards that are so very easy, but the recipients think they took a long time. Technique Junkies background stamps make such an awesome statement!  For this card, the Tropical Palm Fronds was stamped onto a pale yellow panel. The sentiment 'The First to Apologize' was also stamped on pale yellow, matted, and embellished with a bit of tatting twine.

This card was stamped onto a pale green. I used 'Tropical Palm Fronds' and a sentiment from 'Wreath Wishes'. This is an older set, but a go-to for me! I send a lot of Thinking of You cards to church members, and love the size and font of this sentiment.

This July release has been amazing! Wait until you see the August release!

Don't forget!!! You can always save 10% on any order by entering TJ10Patti at checkout.

These were so easy to create! Hope you will give it a try!

Now, be sure to head over to the Technique Junkies store and check out the incredible new stamps this month!

Thanks for stopping by,

Patti J.

SENTIMENTAL TULIP

Hi, Happy Stampers! It's Ro here today to share my love of some sentiment stamps that are available through Technique Junkies. I don't know about you, but sometimes the hardest part of making a card is figuring out your sentiment. Well, I have a little secret....Simple Sentiments. Here is a sample created with a newer stamp set and a sentiment from the Simple Sentiments series.

First off, I love this image stamp. So much fun to color! And it is one of those great background stamps that you can use for a myriad of occasions. I stamped it on a good quality cardstock and colored it using Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils. I added a beautiful shimmer (see below) with some Dazzle Shimmering Bliss Topper

I have to admit, I love a little shimmer on my cards! And this Dazzle certainly fills the bill!  I added some torn paper to the background piece and attached them to an A2 card base. Next I added the sentiment, also with a torn paper background to the top to finish off my card.

Now let's talk sentiments. I love, love, love (did I mention love?) the Simple Sentiments sets. Whether you like a more chunky style like the A series, a cleaner font like the B series, or a vertical font like the C series, you are sure to find one to perfectly capture the message you want to share on your project.  Admittedly, I will use the B series the most since I like a clean look. But I have used the A series quite a bit too for the cards that need a bolder sentiment. I have compiled the complete series of stamps in a few images below so you can see them all and see which ones are your favorite.

I keep these sitting on the "easy access" portion of my stamping area. I reach for them so often, they earned their own spot of honor. I can always find just the right sentiment for my project.

Are you as charmed by these as I am? Would you like to save 10%? Just enter my code at checkout.

Who doesn't like to save a little dough, am I right? I encourage you to check out all the great images and sentiments available at Technique Junkies. I'm sure you will find just what you're looking for!

Hope you found a little inspiration and some good information here today. Let me know your favorite style of sentiment!

Til next time,
Keepin' it inky!

Merry Christmas Little Penguin - Christmas in July Challenge

I used one the penguins from the Let's Chill stamp set. I created an igloo using a circle die and an oval die.  I drew the ice block lines by hand.  The penguin's hat and sweater were colored with Copic markers. I used a homemade cloud stencil and the tiny stamp Breathe - ask Pat Huntoon to make you one!    I die cut the Merry Christmas  from red glitter paper.   I spritzed it all with Dazzle Shimmering Bliss Topper spray

Pat Huntoon, owner of Technique Junkies Stamps, has announced a Christmas in July Challenge.  The Christmas Challenge officially begins on July 17th and will run from July 17 to July 26.  However, she is giving you a special discount of 25% off of all the Christmas category Technique Junkies stamps from July 13 through July 27!   Use the code JULYXMAS.   And Pat Huntoon says, "And what would the holidays be without presents? Dandelion Rainbow

It's Holly posting today, and I'm sharing this dandelion rainbow card that I created.  I started by stamping the fun new Modern Dandelions with Versamark ink onto some kraft cardstock.  I covered the image with white embossing powder and melted it with a heat tool.  While I had the white powder out, I stamped the Guide Your Wishes sentiment with Versamark, covered it with the white embossing powder, and melted that with the heat tool, as well.

To make the dandelions really stand out, I pulled out a rainbow of Distress Oxide inks and covered each dandelion head with ink using a finger dauber.  When I was done with all five colors, I used a soft paper towel to lightly burnish the ink off the embossing powder.  I added the sentiment below the "rainbow" and adhered this to a kraft card base.

Christmas, Exhaustion and Why You Should NOT Talk to Your Offspring...EVER

Alcohol ink over Dandelions in the Wind stamped in VersaMark and white embossed. AI blending solution dabbed over stamped image

Hello again, my peeps!

Once again, I've been entrusted to publish something on my beloved Technique Junkies blog page. And, once again, that's something I'll never really understand.

My own mother won't allow me to touch anything breakable in her house. Come to think of it, I've not actually been invited to stay at her house for any length of time in the last...oh...decade or two.

But I've been given free rein here.

I don't know whether I'm tempted to exhibit behavior beyond reproach or simply run amok.

Being that I'm too exhausted to properly run amok and too disgruntled to truly behave, I'll attempt to land somewhere between the two.

Speaking of exhaustion, I come by mine fair and square.

The three y-chromosomes I birthed have been challenging since the day they emerged, destroying any hope of having a waistline or unmarked skin forevermore.

The worst was when they began to talk. They constantly outsmarted me. I couldn't say anything
without instantly being in over my head.

Tonight was a prime example. I was working on a project that was taking way too much time. Mostly because I kept changing my mind about insignificant details.

But hey...what's the good of having OCD if you don't use it, right?

The 16-year-old walks in for the umpteenth time to ask when he'll be fed. When he sees I'm working on the same project, he says "I can't believe you're still working on that little bit after all this time. Why don't you just stop and put something else there?"

I didn't answer him. But later, when I'd finished, I showed him the completed project.

"See? I said."I know you thought it was a dumb idea but I did it anyway. I persevered. And in the end it was the right thing to do! There's a lesson to be learned from that."

He stood there for a moment then said, "So, if you tell me to clean my room and I think it's a dumb idea, then I should persevere in not cleaning it because I think it's the right thing to do?"

"Of course not," I snapped. "You know what..."

"Or like when you say I should work more hours and I think it dumb because I'm a teenager and should be hanging out with my friends then I should persevere because that's definitely the right thing to do?" he said, excitedly, as he ran from the room. "Hey, Dad! Guess what Mom said?"

See what I mean? I get it honestly.

As I head for a quick nap, YOU can head on over to Technique Junkies and enjoy the July New Releases AND a special Christmas in July Sale!

Have fun! And remember...life is much better the LESS time you spend talking to your offspring!

Take it from me.

Be Yourself

Happy Thursday!

When I saw the new Burst  background stamp a flower popped into my head for some reason. I stamped Burst onto a messy watercolored panel I had around and then freehand cut a flower shape. I painted a stem and leaf and then stamped the sentiment from Things I Want To Do
