30 Days of Christmas - Day 10

Hello and welcome to day 10 of our 30 days of Christmas ... the Technique Junkies Design Team will be posting a Christmas project on the blog from October 15th through November 13th, so be sue to check back every day for some inspiration, also if today is your first time here scroll back to the start date October 15th so you don't miss anything.

Also, all Technique Junkies Christmas Stamps are on Sale through November 13th ... you will save 20% off all Christmas stamps AND you can also use my code TJ10Stephanie for an additional 10% off your entire order (you can stack the %-off for this Christmas celebration).

I made cards featuring two of the very first stamps that made me fall in love with Technique Junkies Stamps ... the Christmas Kitty and Dear Santa.  I remember at least one childhood occasion when our cat knocked over our Christmas tree in the middle of the night ... what a cacophony that was.  These stamps always remind me of that childhood memory.

I love stamping the Christmas Kitty in unexpected colors for sort of an Andy Warhol-like effect to my designs.  Here he is in Rockin' Red, which coordinates perfectly with papers and embellishments from the Jingle All The Way Collection from My Mind's Eye.

The layout is inspired by the October Sketch at the Stick it Down Challenge.

He also looks quite dashing in Skylight Blue, which coordinated perfectly with another designer paper from the same My Mind's Eye paper collection.

I used the other piece of the red paper and did sort of another variation on the same sketch (nothing wasted that way, and I was able to extend the design to a wider orientation).

Hope you're inspired by all of the Christmas designs on the Blog this month.

Day 30 of the 30 Days of Christmas

Welcome to the final post for the 30 Days of Christmas, Inky Friends!

Remember....tomorrow is the last day to save 25% on your Christmas stamp collections!

Well, it's Ro, here, back with you for the final 30 Days project. I have made a shaker card featuring three stamp sets: Sparkles (S536), Magic of Christmas (SD428) and Christmas Trees Set of 6 (SS045). (Click on the Christmas stamp link above to see these and many other Christmas stamps available.)

Supplies Needed:

  • TJ Stamp Sets Mentioned Above
  • A2 Card Base
  • Cardstock
  • Sequins
  • Foam Tape
  • Double Sided Adhesive
  • Silver, Green and Black Embossing Powder
  • Versamark Ink Pad
  • Midnight Minx Ink by Art Anthology
  • Ruler
  • Scissors or Xacto Knife
  • Clear Acetate

Build It:

  1. Start with the top layer. Cut cardstock to 4.25 x 5.50 inches. I used a speckled white cardstock. Stamp the trees and sentiment using Versamark Ink. Heat emboss the trees with green embossing powder and the sentiment with black embossing powder.
  2. Using a ruler, lightly mark a margin approximately 1/4" partway around the card. Lightly mark where the snow line under the trees will be. Using scissors or knife, cut out the window. Attach a piece of clear acetate to the reverse side using two sided tape.
  3. On the card base, stamp with Versamark Ink the Sparkles background and emboss with silver embossing powder. Using the Midnight Minx Ink, add a few drops to the background and rub around with your finger. Let dry a few minutes.
  4. On the acetate side of the top layer, add foam tape around the edges of the cut out area. Be sure to leave no gaps between the edges of the tape, or you will lose the sequins when they are added.
  5. With the top layer still facing down, add sequins to the center area. Carefully line up the card base and attach to the foam tape making sure there is a good seal.
  6. Flip over the card and enjoy the movement!

I sure hope you enjoyed all the fantastic projects the Design Team shared during this 30 Days of Christmas celebration. Don't forget to get your Christmas stamp order placed...the 25% discount (which will show at check-out) ends tomorrow!

Til next time,

DAY 29 OF 30 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS AT TECHNIQUE JUNKIES

Hello everyone!!!!

Cheri here and we're winding down to the end of the 30 Days of Christmas event.

There's still one more day to get that 25% off all the awesome Christmas stamps that Technique Junkies has in their store, grab them while you can and enjoy the discount!

It's been 30 days full of inspiration and creativity by the TJDT and I've enjoyed each and every one.

For my last post during this event, I have some bookmarks to show you and a card.

This is a front and back shot of the bookmarks.  I used some coordinating scrap pieces of design paper to cover the backs.  The stamps I used for the bookmarks is SS029 "Christmas Words" set of 4 stamps.  The technique to create them is the easy white embossed image and sponging Distress Inks over the image to create a resist. Adding some water splatters to the sponged ink gave them a "vintage" look.  I like these as card inserts for Christmas cards to special friends.

The face on this puppy just cracks me up.  Another easy card.  The background was splattered with white acrylic paint and once dry, I sprayed with some glimmer spray. I stamped "Ho, Ho, Ho Dog" on 80# white cardstock with Archival black ink using my Misti.  In order to get a good coverage, I stamped it 3 times...I wanted him to pop right off the cs.  I made a mask and covered him while I sponged a bg with Distress Ink.  I again splattered some water and soaked it up with paper towels then heat dried it.  I decided to add some "snow" to match the red bg, so I took my white pen and dotted it in the bg.  I used Copics to color his scarf and paper pieced his hat with some red glittery paper.  To frame him, I used MFT stitched arch Stax.  As a final touch, I added some sequins to the bg and some glossy accents to his nose and eyes.

There you have it!!!!  I hope I've inspired you and I hope you don't miss grabbing youself some of these fabulous stamps.

Cheers!

Day 27 and the Stars are Shining

Today is Day 27 of the 30 Days of Christmas, and I am happy to show you this pretty - and simple - card using The Stars are Brightly Shining stamp.

With just a few sprays of non-traditional Barbie and Glorious Art Anthology Colorations Sprays, the background color was done. When dy, I stamped the Brightly Shining Image ove it with StazOn ink. To add a little shimmer, I sprayed Sterling Fairy Dust Shimmer Spray, then highlighted some of the words with a silver glitter pen.

Just a few more days left of the 30 days of Christmas -- and only 4 more days of 25% off any Christmas stamp. Don't miss out!
Warmest Wishes,
Pat Huntoon

Day 26 of the 30 Days of Christmas

Welcome! Today is Day 26 of the 30 Days of Christmas, and I am happy to show you this elegant card that uses the Merry Christmas Wishes stamp as a focal image.  The image was stamped and embossed with silver embossing powder, then I rubbed green dye ink over the top to highlight the tree shape. The background is the Palettini Vintage Music Background stamp.

This is one of those cards that the internet does't do justice to -- so much prettier in person!

In any case, there are only a few more days of the sale -- 25% off all stamps in the Christmas Category. Get yours today!

Day 25 - Nuvo Mousse Rub on Embossing

Today is day 25 of the 30 Days of Christmas, and today I am introducing a fun new product into the Technique Junkies store: Nuvo Mousse Embellishment.

These little jars of mousse are amazing. They feel like silk when touched, apply beautifully, and dry very fast. I haven't ever used anything like them! They can be applied with a spatula through stencils, directly onto the paper, rubbed into texture, painted on, and so many other ways.

Today I am rubbing them over the texture of embossed card stock to add shimmer to my Christmas Card creation.

While you are checking out the new NUVO Mousse colorsonline, don't forget that ALL stamps in the Christmas category are 25% off through December 14th.  Time is running out on this offer! Simply place any Christmas stamp in your shopping cart and the 25% discount will be automatically applied to your purchase. No coupon codes required.

Our first look uses Nuvo Mousse in Pretty Platinum over an embossed grey background.

Add texture to your card stock with an embossing folder. Then simply place your finger into the Mousse -- pick some up with your fingertip. It has a soft, silky texture.
Then simply rub the Mousse lightly over the texture portion of the card stock.
To finish my card, I used one of the sentiments from the Christmas Ornaments Trio Set,and layered it over black and red sparkly card stock.

The second piece uses the Indian Gold Mousse over textured snowflakes, but this time, I used Art Anthology Colorations sprays on the background:

I simply used three Colorations sprays over the background: Siesta Key, Plush and Patience. Once dry, I added embossed texture and used my fingertips to apply the Indian Gold Mousse to the raised areas.

To finish this card, I used the Joyeux Noel sentiment over layers of snowflakes. Note that the white centers of the snowflakes use the white Nuvo Crystal Drops.
I hope you were inspired today.Make sure to take advantage of the sale before it runs out!

Layered Swirls, Christmas and Birthday FUN!

Greetings Inky Friends!

Here's the last card in my own little personal series of using
the Layered Swirls background stamp!

I created the background using the Polished Stone technique
with alcohol inks and blending solution and inked the back ground stamp
with Black Archival ink and stamped on top.
The polished stone piece that Trust Your Journey is stamped on was a 2nd or 3rd generation of the original inking of the background piece!
I added some Rhinestones to selected area of the Background and called it complete!
I love the jewel-tones colors in this card!

Here's a couple Christmas cards I did at the last crop I hosted....

I used one of my favorite background stamp Swaths of Texture and applied Distress Stains directly to the stamp in a couple reds and silver.  I added red and clear Stickles to the Red or White Christmas wine glasses for added sparkle and shimmer.

I was able to get a second impression from the same stains/background image and decided to create a birthday card using the versatile set Grand Greetings for an OSU loving friend.

The last card I simple covered a piece of card stock with different washing tapes and added the adorable Christmas Carol Kitty to the front. I colored him using Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

Thanks for stopping by and...

Until next time...
Happy Creating!

30 Days of Christmas - Day 20, with a "two-fer"

Hi! Ro Donner here  -- glad to see you back here for the 30 Days of Christmas! Don't forget to load up on your Christmas stamps during the sale and receive 25% off at checkout!

Today we have two posts -- the one you are reading today, Day 20 - and we also have a guest blogger, Lydia Fiedler, of Understand Blue fame, who has a great Christmas Mug Shot piece to show you! After you read this, hop on over to her blog to see her wonderful kitty!

Today's card features an atypical kind of background, which makes the card very whimsical.

Supplies Used:

Build It:
  • Trim a piece of dotted design paper to slightly smaller than the A2 card and attach to card base.
  • Using Versafine Ink and green embossing powder, stamp and emboss two of the Christmas Trees from the set on white cardstock. Trim down the cardstock to the width of the dotted paper, trimming around the trees, and trimming off the bottom so the top of the threes are about 2/3 from the top of the card.
  • Cut two more panels for the front layers of "snow".
  • On the smallest panel, stamp and emboss the sentiment.
  • Attach all layers to the card base using foam tape.
Hope you're inspired by today's card. Be sure to come back tomorrow and see what's new!

Til next time,
Keepin' It Inky.

Day 18 - Christmas with an old friend...

Today is day 18 of the 30 Days of Christmas, and I decided to spend it with an old friend.

My old friend is my K-pads! I haven't pulled out Kaleidacolor ink pads in a lonnnnggggg time, but sometimes we just need to reconnect with old friends. Remember how colorful and easy they are to use?

Kaleidacolor pads have always been special to me. My first introduction to stamping involved a K-pad, glossy paper, and a brayer...I have been hooked on stamping every since.

One of the best things about K-pads is their ease of use. They are perfect for Christmas cards -- a fast, easy colorful way to make your cards. I have three different examples here for you -- I have they inspire you to revisit with YOUR old k-pad friends!
And don't forget..ALL stamps in the Christmas category are 25% off through December 14th. Simply place any Christmas stamp in your shopping cart and the 25% discount will be automatically applied to your purchase. No coupon codes required!

Snowflakes in Blues and Greens

Our first look is a study of blues and greens on plain white. Using a brayer, the color was inked over the Snow Swirls background. I used my MISTI - it allowed me to stamp over the areas that didn't stamp as well (um, remember that I said these were OLD friends? They really needed to be reinked!).

To finish the piece, I added glitter over some of the snowflakes, and Glossy White Nuvo Crystal Drops in the insides of the snowflakes.   The Snowflakes Fall stamp and a trio of punched snowflakes finish the piece.

Desert Heat Foliage
This piece was really out of my comfort zone. The combination of the orange/red background with the green, yellow and glittered foliage made me question my color sense the entire time! When I finished coloring all the the foliage, I realized it really DOES work.

Desert Heat K-Pad was brayered over the Winter Foliage stamp, and the inside foliage was colored with glitter pens.

To make the focal image, the K-pad was brayered over a white piece, then the  Wonderful World sentiment was stamped. Note that I stamped the sentiment with the color turned in the opposite direction from the base piece.

Creole Spice Dove
This was the simplest card of the lot. The Creole Spice Kaleidacolor pad was brayered over the Peace on Earth Dove. Then I simply added Diamond Glaze (i.e. Crystal Effects/Glassy Glaze) over the dove portion. A little matting - and it was done!

I hope you were inspired to bring out YOUR old K-Pad friends!
Warmest Wishes,
Pat Huntoon
