TJ Inkspirations: Ink Blended Stenciled Backgrounds

First, I must apologize. You haven't heard from me for a few weeks, and my absence is both professional and personal.  From a professional standpoint, the video editing program I have been using suddenly died on me, without hope of recovery, forcing me to learn a new editing program that is more complicated. The good news is that the videos will (should) be better as I master the program in the next few months!  From a personal standpoint, I have traveled every weekend in August (only once for personal reasons, the rest were trade shows) and the remainder of my time in the office has been overwhelmingly hectic. I promise to make up for it!  I have already filmed tutorials for most of September and I am prepping them all for future publication.  Before I get to the video and artwork, I would like to mention that Sunday is September 1st - meaning that we will have 15 new stamps for you.  Wait until you see these! My card today is a mix of old and new. I have had the adorable Doxie Guilt Trip stamp for a bit now and just needed a perfect sentiment to go with it. When this months release was revealed to the team, I found one that I think fits the attitude of the doxie face. There are new stamps this month with dogs, too! Let's see how I put this card together!

Supplies:

• Dog Hair Stamp (New release)
• Doxie Guild Trip Stamp
• Nuvo Mousse - Gunmetal Gray
• A Colorful Life Stencil - like Stars and Stripes
• Shimmering Bliss Spray - Iridescent
• Stencil Brush or sponge
• Glue
• Black Ink Pad (safe to use with coloring medium)
• Coloring Medium ( i.e., alcohol or waterbased markers, watercolor pencils, etc.)
• White, red and kraft cardstock

Instructions:

1. Fold a 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch kraft cardstock in half for card base.
2. Lay down stencil over the front of the folded card base and dab Nuvo mousse into stencil design. Set aside.
3. Stamp with black ink Doxie and sentiment onto white cardstock and color (alcohol markers and Memento ink were used)
4. Lightly spray colored image with Shimmering Bliss Spray and frame with red cardstock.
5. Glue onto the card base.

I stamped both images on white card and the spritzed with vagarious colors of Technique Junkies Shimmering Bliss spray.  I only stamped a small section of the Flatware stamp.

I stamped the sentiment on the dark yellow card stock and heat embossed the sentiment.

TJ Inkspirations: Blended Dimensions

I had a blast playing "Mad Scientist" a few weeks ago. I was experimenting with combinations of different products to see how they would react together. My original thought was to try what is in this video, so I was really happy that it turned out the way it did.  Today I am here to show you how to combine Nuvo Embellishment Mousse with Technique Junkies Shimmering Bliss to create custom colors with a ton of dimension. It is really easy to do, and so very pretty! The resulting product retains the shimmer of Shimmering Bliss while still having the Metallic from the Mousse. CHRISTMAS CACTUS

Hi Junkies!  

I'm here today showing off a fun stamp in two ways, to add some variety in your card making using the same stamp.

What a lovely stamp this is.  It's from the Mitten State Stamp Collection and makes a dramatic image for a Christmas card.  I love Christmas Cactus plants.  They live forever and are so easy to care for.  

I water colored this on 140# watercolor paper using Distress Inks.  It took no time at all after stamping it with Archival ink "Fern Green".  As a final touch of dimension and sparkle I added a layer of Shimmering Bliss Gold Topper over the panel before mounting the layers.  

Now this:

How cool is this contrast?  Same stamp...I stamped it in white pigment ink on a medium gray card stock panel.  I used a white PrismaColor pencil to add the light areas.  A dark gray colored pencil was used to outline and give depth to the image.  I have a 2 inch paint brush that I use for soft backgrounds and I used it to soften the image again with the white pigment ink.  

To add sparkle, I bordered the image with my Nuvo Glitter Pen and then took the same paint brush I used as described above, and added Delicata silver ink in the same manner I added the white pigment ink in the background.

TJ Inkspirations: Shimmering Bliss Mousse and Marker Resist

While playing with the Technique Junkies Shimmering Bliss sprays, I realized that both Nuvo Embellishment Mousse and Nuvo Glitter Markersboth resist the sprays.  I loved the result so much that we decided to do it as the Make and Take in the TJ tradeshow booth.

TIME DOES NOT MATTER

Hello Technique Junkies Stamps peeps!

I've discovered that a quick way to achieve an illumination for a background is to use a light colored card stock panel in the color family you're hoping to work with.  

In this case, I wanted to color these leaves with Copic Markers blending layers of colors, so I started with a light coral colored cs panel and stamped the image with Rhubarb Stalk color ink from Memento.  It worked out beautifully.  

As a final touch of elegance, I sprayed the panel with Shimmering Bliss Gold Topper which created spectacular results.  

The sentiment is from "Mae West Sentiments" and a fabulous set to have on hand.  I love the sentiments in this collection.  I stamped it in VersaMark on a dark brown scrap of cs and heat embossed it in gold ep.  

For a touch of added dimension and glitz I added little dots of gold shimmer from a Nuvo Glitter Marker in Gold around the finished panel.  I also used the gold glitter marker to outline the entire card panel for definition and mounted it on a dark brown card base.
