Here we are on day 7 of the 30 Days of Christmas! Today I am sharing a shaker card. Shaker cards are so fun. I used two stamp sets in creating this card: Christmas Ornaments Trio and Victorian Greetings. Here is the card:
This type of card is not as difficult to create as you might think. Here is how it came together.
- Start with a black A2 card base and some black cardstock.
- Cut 4 frames using metal dies and glue all four layers together.
- Cut 1 more frame and the acetate. Stamp image on the acetate an emboss with silver embossing powder. Color the frame with Nuvo Glitter Markers. I used Urban Graphite. Attach the frame to the acetate.
- Attach the 4 layered frame piece to the card base. Be sure it is secured well so nothing will leak out.
- Add your shaker items to the "well" created by the stacked frames.
- Attach the frame and acetate to the top of the stacked frames, again ensuring they are securely attached to prevent leakage.
- Stamp and emboss the sentiment on the card base.
- Add silver dots with the silver Nuvo Glitter Marker from the Midnight Shadows set.
- I wasn't happy with how the ornament kind of disappeared after I assembled the card, so I stamped and embossed it on silver paper using red embossing powder, cut out just the ornament, and attached it over the embossed acetate. Much better! The ornament now shows up and I really liked the touch of red.
This card was so easy peasy! I love shaker cards!
Both sets of stamps used include multiple stamps. Here is a glimpse of each set:
