Scrunchie.....another old favorite

It's Evelyn here....with a funky favorite technique:  Scrunchie.  It appeared in the November 2007 newsletter.     This past week, I recycled magazines and catalogs and saved several great glossy covers and pages from the Coldwater Creek catalog. There were also some beautiful red and black butterflies on a New Yorker cover, which I used  for this card.    The stamped image is from Diva Impressions, an unmounted I "found" in my mess of unmounteds.    (No one else has that problem, surely!!)

Burnished Embossing

My  card today features a technique from January '08: Burnished Embossing.  I was a little more 'generous' with the burnishing than the tutorial shows, but it also works.   The flourish stamp is from Stampers Anonymous and the sentiment is from Verses Rubber Stamps.

Walnut Ink Resist

Hi!  It's Evelyn here with a technique from April/May 2008.  I used Lilac Walnut Ink spray with a butterfly image from Penny Black and a sentiment from River City Rubber Works.

Double Embossed Metal

It's Evelyn here....trying out the Double Embossed Metal from the Feb/March newsletter.  I ordered four colors of metal after I saw the newsletter; this card uses Plum.  The first embossing was with the Swiss Dots folder, and the second was with SU's Rose folder.   Although I did color some with a purple Sharpie, it doesn't show up very well.  I backed the metal piece with specialty dark purple cardstock from Club Scrap and accented it with some soft purple pearls. Bandanna Technique

It's Evelyn here.....sharing one of my favorite  techniques:  Bandanna from Aug/Sept 2008.   I have all the new Distress Inks and have wanted to use them for something.   This particular card was created with Stormy Sky, Chipped Sapphire, and Pumice Stone.   ( I also tried a piece of glossy cardstock to see how the colors looked, but the Pumice Stone shows up better on the regular cardstock, as is used on this card.)   The blue layers are Bazzill's Bling line, and the flourish stamp is from Stampington.  The sentiment is from Verve stamps.

One note:   I've tried every kind of white pen, often with frustrating results.   However, I've discovered that the best pen for dots is a Galaxy White Marker, which is what I used for this card.   It has a bullet tip, so doesn't do fine lines.  But it does dots very well!

Oh-So Fru-Fru from the past!

t's Evelyn here....digging in my stash for the fabulous 'fru-fru' which just might not be available any more.   I think people can make their own with iridescent or holographic acetate wrap, shredded into tiny pieces.   What I have came from Pennywise Arts, but I know it's not available there anymore.  The stamp is a new one for me..."Poppy Poem" from Penny Black.

Spritz that Pigment Ink!

The Pigment Spritz technique appeared in the June/July 2009 newsletter.  Because most of my pigment inks are in little cubes, I chose my ink colors first and then looked for a piece of patterned paper I could use as a frame.  The image is from Rubber Stampede and the sentiment from River City Rubber Works.  A 5-inch square card is really one of my favorite shapes.

Marker Wash and Hero Arts

This is one of my very favorite TJ techniques:  Marker Wash from the Oct/Nov 2007 newsletter.  I was able to use one of my new Hero Arts floral cling images, too. That's a Hero Arts background script stamped over the flower.  Sentiment is also from Hero Arts. Gold Stickles accent the flower's center. (Click for close-up details.)

Fossil Stone

I love this technique! It can be made with soft colors or with bright ones, but I prefer the soft ones, such as SU's Bashful Blue and Mellow Moss, which I used for this one.   The technique is found in the April 2006 newsletter.    Stamp:  "Iluminata" by Inkadinkado.....inked for the first time for this card (4 1/4x 5 1/2 inches).      Evelyn Spikes

Colorwash Batik

It's fall in the Northern Hemisphere! As much as I hate to see summer fade away, I do love the colors associated with autumn. One of the techniques that shows off those colors---or any others, for that matter---is Colorwash Batik from the December 2006 TJ newsletter. Spray washes of any kind will work for this great technique, and your results will please you.
