Star and Flourish Birthday | Birthday Card | 4th of July Shaker Card

Happy Saturday, everyone.

I know...it's February...it's cold...it's snowy but, before you know it, it will be summer, picnics, and July 4th festivities at the beach.

When I first saw the Star and Flourish Birthday stamp, I immediately thought of America's birthday and knew I had to make this for someone I know who has a birthday on July 4th.  But this idea would also be great as an invite to any July 4th party or picnic and can also be changed up for anyone's birthday by using birthday-themed paper.

  • I made my card base using blue cardstock, 5.75" x 11.5", scored at 5.75" on the long side, to make my 5.75" square card base.
  • I cut a piece of white cardstock, 5" x 5", stamped Star and Flourish Birthday in the center and adhered it to my card front.
  • I cut my card front - a piece of July 4th paper - and die-cut the center using a rectangle die.
  • I adhered a piece of acetate to the back of the July 4th paper and then I added foam tape around the 4 sides and around the 4 sides of the inside rectangle.
  • I placed my shaker elements - gold stars and red and blue micro beads - on top of the Star and Flourish Birthday image and then adhered my card front over them.
  • I used the next size rectangle die to die-cut a frame, which I adhered around the sentiment along with some red, white, and blue enamel dots.
  • To finish the card off, I cut a piece of white cardstock, 5.5" square, stamped Kisses and Wishes in black, and adhered to the inside of the card.  The two images work perfectly together with the stars in each image.

So, what do you guys think of this idea?  If you make it, let me know...I'd love to see it.  Until next time...

Hugs from Brasil.

All About Love Shaker Card

Good morning!  It's Holly posting today.  It's crazy to think that Valentine's Day is coming up next month.  Time just seems to be flying by!  I have a really cute shaker card to share with you today that would be perfect for giving to a loved one.

I used the new All About Love background stamp from Technique Junkies and embossed it with a sparkly white powder onto some pink cardstock.  Then I placed some clear packaging plastic over this panel and taped three of the plastic edges onto the back, leaving one end open.  I poured some fun pink, red, white, clear, and silver sequins into the open end over the front of the embossed panel, and then taped the plastic end to the back of the panel.  With the shaker panel complete, I glued this to a white card base.  Next, I die cut some white hearts and glued them to the front of the shaker card.  I added some sequins to some of the hearts and wrote a note on the inside of the card.

Technique Junkies released some great new stamps that are perfect for Valentine's Day and for weddings and anniversaries.  Check out the new release stamps HERE.  You can find the All About Love background stamp HERE.  Don't forget to use this code, TJ10Holly, to save 10% off your order.  Have a wonderful day!

Winter Gnome Shaker

Good morning!  It's Holly posting today, and I've got a fun winter shaker card for y'all today.  I used some stamps from Technique Junkies and lots of sequins to create this infinity shaker card.  I started by stamping the the new All About Winter background in blue ink onto some white cardstock.  Then I pulled out the sentiment from the Let's Chill set and stamped it with the same blue ink onto another piece of white cardstock.

I stamped the gnome from the Gnome for Christmas set with a black Copic-friendly ink and let it dry for a few minutes before I colored it.  I colored the gnome in shades of blue to go with the sequins and the blue sentiments.

To make the infinity shaker, I put double sided adhesive on all four sides of the back of the stamped background panel.  I cut some plastic from a discarded package and adhered it to three of the adhesive edges, leaving one edge open.  With that one end opened, I poured in some sequins, and then I taped that edge shut.  I added more adhesive to the back of this shaker panel and adhered it to a white card base.

With the shaker card part done, I trimmed down the "Let's Chill" sentiment and adhered it to the front of the card.  I fussy cut the gnome and adhered him next to the sentiment on the front of the shaker card.  All that's left to do is write something on the inside of the card and mail it off to a dear friend.

Please feel free to use this code, TJ10Holly, when you shop at Technique Junkies.  Check out all the great new stamps HERE and have fun shopping!

Santa Shaker Card

Good morning!  It's Holly posting today, and I have a fun shaker card to share with y'all today.  I used the beautiful new Classic Santa stamp from Technique Junkies and stamped it with red ink onto some white cardstock.  Then I cut down some clear packaging and taped three sides onto the back of the Santa panel.  With one side left open, I poured some sequins into the front of the Santa panel and then taped the last edge to the back to create the shaker piece.  I die cut some letters from black cardstock to create the fun sentiment - Ho Ho Ho.  After I glued the letters down, I adhered the shaker panel to some black cardstock and then to a red card base.

Please feel free to use this code, TJ10Holly, when you shop at Technique Junkies.  You will save 10% off your entire order, so grab this Classic Santa and check out the rest of the great Christmas stamps from this month's release HERE.  Have a wonderful day!

All About Autumn - 2 versions

Good morning!  It's Holly posting today.  This new stamp from Technique Junkies, called All About Autumn, lists all the wonderful things that we love about the fall season.  This is a full A2 background stamp, 5.5" x 4.25", and I've got two different versions to share with you today.

For my first card above, I stamped All About Autumn with Versamark, covered it with copper embossing powder, and melted the powder.  Then I brushed on several colors of distress inks in an ombre pattern with the yellow on top and the deep red at the bottom.

For my second card, I inked up the All About Autumn stamp with the various ombre colors and pressed it onto white cardstock.  Then I taped some clear plastic over the stamped image and filled it with sequins to make it a shaker card.

Which version do you like best, the copper ombre card or the ombre shaker card?  This All About Autumn stamp is on sale at 15% off until September 8, and you can use my code, TJ10Holly, to save 10% off everything else in the Technique Junkies store.  Check out all the fantastic stamps, stencils, and Shimmering Bliss sprays, and have a wonderful day!

Kisses and Wishes Birthday Shaker Card

Good morning! It's Holly posting today and I'm sharing a fun birthday card that I made with new stamps from Technique Junkies.  I started by stamping the new Sparkling Celebration background with some blue ink onto some matching blue cardstock.  Then I stamped the new Kisses and Wishes with the same blue ink onto white cardstock and loosely cut it out with scissors.  The sentiment was glued to the blue background and then I placed this panel inside a clear envelope.  Before I sealed it up, I poured in some blue/green, gold, and clear sequins.  Then I glued this filled clear envelope to a white card base.  It's such a fun and easy way to make a shaker card!

Please feel free to use this code, TJ10Holly, when you shop at Technique Junkies.  You'll save 10% off your order, which means you can buy a few extra stamps, right?  LOL

Confetti Shaker Galentine's Day

Galentine's Day is February 13, the day before Valentine's Day, and it's a fun excuse to send happy mail to your friends.  I made this fun shaker card with a couple of new stamps from Technique Junkies.

I started by embossing the Falling Confetti Hearts with white powder onto some red cardstock.  Then I took some plastic packaging and cut it larger than the red panel.  I taped three sides of the plastic to the back of the red panel, leaving one end open.  I added some clear sequins to the "pocket" and then taped the shaker completely all around the back of the red panel.  I stamped the Happy Galentine's Day onto some white cardstock, die cut it with an oval die, glued it to a black scalloped oval die cut and adhered it to the front of the shaker.  Then I used double-sided tape to adhere the shaker to a black card base.

This is such a fun and easy card to make.  The Happy Galentine's Day stamp pairs perfectly with the Falling Confetti Hearts.  Please feel free to use this code, TJ10Holly, when you shop at Technique Junkies.  You'll save 10% off your order and you'll have some fun new stamps to play with!

Shaker Jellies

Hello All!

We are into the dog days of summer here; makes me want to head to the beach!  The newly released Technique Junkies beach/sea themed stamps will have to do!  They are 10% off with code TJ10LeeAnn (actually, you can get 10% off your entire cart with the code).
Today I am sharing a super fun card using the new Jellyfish Stamp by Rita Barakat.  If you know me, you know I am not huge into cutesy stamps, so when I saw these Jellies without smiley faces, I knew I had to have them!

I stamped the jellies multiple times, using masking for some.  I colored them in partially with a Arteza watercolor brush.  I needed a background for my shaker card, so I used the Marble Swirl background stamp for this, stamping tone on tone.  I think the new Tidepool Background Stamp would work well for this as well.
To create my shaker space, I fussy cut around all of the jellyfish tentacles.  I know, I know, but I LOVE fussy cutting and I find it relaxing.  Besides, it does not have to be perfect, especially with the underwater scene.  The sentiment, Hang in There was then stamped over the jellies, and the card was assembled.  Using my MISTI gave me perfect placement of the sentiment.

I love all of the sparkley goodness in the shaker!
I hope I have inspired you to stamp, or maybe even make a shaker card!
Have a fabulous and crafty week!

Find your Zen!

Good morning!  Chris here, sharing two cards created with a few of the new July stamps!

Today I am focusing on the new July Zen Waves background stamp.

My first card uses Zen Waves as my background panel for a peaceful shaker card.

I stamped the background in a medium blue ink, and overstamped it with Versamark ink and heat embossed it in clear.  I then added color to the waves with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.  I used a scalloped die to create a decorative opening in my light blue panel for my shaker card.   I trimmed a flag from lavender cardstock and added a greeting from Dream Quotes.  I attached this flag to the back of my shaker front before assembling the shaker with clear acetate and two layers of foam tape.

My second card uses a Gel Press, acrylic paints and the Zen Waves background stamp for a more intense and active background.

I used Bristol Smooth card stock and three shades of acrylic inks to create the background with my Gil Press.  Once my panel was dry, I stamped Zen Waves directly over the paint with Versafine Onyx Black ink.  I also used another of the new July stamps, Be A Mermaid.  To create the focal image, I stamped the Be A Mermaid in Versafine and colored her with Chameleon Colortone Pencils.  I truly love how simple these pencils are to use.  They make coloring so quick and easy!  The small mermaid focal image was trimmed, matted with black cardstock and added to my card with dimensional foam tape.

That's all from me today!  Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time,
Chris

Peace

Hello Junkies!!

We are coming into the home stretch of the Holiday season and I hope you all are taking some time to get a little holiday crafting in before the season passes.  As a tip to be prepared for next year, why don't you make a few extra cards this December then store them away in preparation for next year!

My first card today uses one of my absolute favorite holiday stamps called "Christmas Dove".   I created a shaker card after I white heat embossed the dove and colored it with Distressed Stains. For more great ideas using Distress Stains check out the techniques on "Artistic Effects CD".  The sentiment I used is from "Christmas Ornaments Set of 9", which is so versatile and can be used as either a holiday or a thank you card.

My second card features "Oh Holy Night", which I silver heat embossed and stamped over a watercolor background.  This is perfect for mass production.

I want to wish each and every one of you the most wonderful holiday season.  We've got some exciting new stamps to feature for you on January 1st so we'll see you then when the design teams returns for our first Blog Hop of 2017!

Until next year,

Day 30 of the 30 Days of Christmas

Welcome to the final post for the 30 Days of Christmas, Inky Friends!

Remember....tomorrow is the last day to save 25% on your Christmas stamp collections!

Well, it's Ro, here, back with you for the final 30 Days project. I have made a shaker card featuring three stamp sets: Sparkles (S536), Magic of Christmas (SD428) and Christmas Trees Set of 6 (SS045). (Click on the Christmas stamp link above to see these and many other Christmas stamps available.)

Supplies Needed:

  • TJ Stamp Sets Mentioned Above
  • A2 Card Base
  • Cardstock
  • Sequins
  • Foam Tape
  • Double Sided Adhesive
  • Silver, Green and Black Embossing Powder
  • Versamark Ink Pad
  • Midnight Minx Ink by Art Anthology
  • Ruler
  • Scissors or Xacto Knife
  • Clear Acetate

Build It:

  1. Start with the top layer. Cut cardstock to 4.25 x 5.50 inches. I used a speckled white cardstock. Stamp the trees and sentiment using Versamark Ink. Heat emboss the trees with green embossing powder and the sentiment with black embossing powder.
  2. Using a ruler, lightly mark a margin approximately 1/4" partway around the card. Lightly mark where the snow line under the trees will be. Using scissors or knife, cut out the window. Attach a piece of clear acetate to the reverse side using two sided tape.
  3. On the card base, stamp with Versamark Ink the Sparkles background and emboss with silver embossing powder. Using the Midnight Minx Ink, add a few drops to the background and rub around with your finger. Let dry a few minutes.
  4. On the acetate side of the top layer, add foam tape around the edges of the cut out area. Be sure to leave no gaps between the edges of the tape, or you will lose the sequins when they are added.
  5. With the top layer still facing down, add sequins to the center area. Carefully line up the card base and attach to the foam tape making sure there is a good seal.
  6. Flip over the card and enjoy the movement!

I sure hope you enjoyed all the fantastic projects the Design Team shared during this 30 Days of Christmas celebration. Don't forget to get your Christmas stamp order placed...the 25% discount (which will show at check-out) ends tomorrow!

Til next time,
Keepin' It Inky!
