TJ Inkspirations: Shimmering Ombre Distress Oxide Inks with stamps and stencils

We saw an end to the 30 days of Christmas this week, and although it was inspiring to see all of the beautiful artwork from the talented Technique Junkies Designers, I have to admit I am a little burned out on Christmas cards this week. So today I decided to make a project that encompassed everything EXCEPT Christmas!

I decided recently purchased the 12 new Distress Oxide Ink colors (no, we don't sell them - you can find them online at many stores, though). This week I opened those puppies up and played with them!

The video below is results of the playtime. I use Technique Junkies Stamps and a stencil from A Colorful Life Designs Stencils with  Art Anthology Fairy Dust in Gilded Gold to create a shimmering ombre look. I love the look, love the stamps I used, and loved the technique. Wait till you see my fingers in the video - you will see the evidence of my work on my inky digits.

One more thing: I added a bunch of things to the Clearance area on my site this week -- trying to make room for new stuff. Check them out!

Here are the products I used on the finished card are here:
Garden Gate Stencil

Linen Dots

Snow Swirls
Survive Together
Fluff your Tutu

Snowflakes Fall

Grey Days
Shimmering Ombre Distress Oxide Inks

TJ Inkspiration: Coffee Stain Background with Distress Oxide Inks

It is incredible to me that we are so close to the end of September.  On Sunday, October 1st, we will be celebrating our monthly stamp release with a blog hop, so I hope you will join us for that.

On this Friday, though, I have a short (very short - less than 3 minutes) video showing you how to use Distress Oxide inks and a stencil to create a fun background that mimics coffee cup stains on a piece of wood furniture.

We are only using two stamps for this video:
Coffee Kitty

And on of the sentiments from this set:
Typewriter Set
Coffee Stained Background
This is the simple little card I made using the technique in the video:

TJ Inkspirations - Shimmering Stencil with Watercolored Distress Inks

A few months ago, I brought the A Colorful Life Designs Stencil Line into the Technique Junkies store. These beautiful designs heave certainly rekindled my love for stencils, and I have been playing every chance I can get with this gorgeous designs.

Today I offer you a video that uses the stencils with Shimmering Spray and Distress Inks to create gorgeous shimmering creations. It is an easy technique, as you will see in the video, with great impact.

I show two projects, with two different sets of colors in this video:

TJ Inkspirations - Retro Card with Nuvo Mousse

I exhibit at 20 or so trade shows per year, and either demo or run a Make and Take at each of them. This years we have been doing a Make and Take, allowing people to try the Nuvo Mousse or Glimmer Paste with stencils on tags. Since the best way to explain how to do something is to show it, I make quite a few tags at each show, always trying to use different colors and stencils. Today's card was inspired by one of the tags I made at a show.

And it has no stamps on it...

BUT - everything on the tag is available in on www.techniquejunkies.com. All of the product you see below can be purchased in the store today.

The card also has a fun cut border:

Here is what we are using for the card in the video tutorial today:

Nuvo Mousse in Pacific Teal_ Orange Crush and Citrus Green
Smile Words Stencil - A Colorful Life Designs
Nuvo Crystal Drops - Ebony Black

Colorations Sprays in Patience_ Timeless and Siesta Key

Retro Flowers with Nuvo Mousse

I love the bright colors and dimension of this card. The flowers are dimensional with the mousse, and the centers are dimensional with the glossy black centers.

Dimensional Mother's Day Card Video Tutorial

Mother's Day is right around the corner, so I thought we would celebrate this momentous occasion with another Video Tutorial. As some of you know, my mother has passed, but I still have a wonderful Mother-in-Law that I adore who appreciates receiving cards (you may also notice that I created the How Blessed I Am set to honor the other special women in your life, too).

Keep in mind that the stamp here - and all of the April release stamps -- are still 15% off through the end of tomorrow (4-8-27). Simply put your selection in your shopping cart and the stamps will be discounted at checkout.

Our video combines Distress Oxide Inks with Nuvo Embellishment Mousse for a beautiful dimensional effect. Here are the products we are using in today's tutorial:

Honor and Love Stamp

Distress Oxide Ink - Worn Lipstick
Nuvo Embellishment Mousse - Lilac Lavender
Nuvo Mousse - Gunmetal Grey
Distress Oxide Ink - Wilted Violet
Gilded Gold Fairy Dust Spray

A Colorful Life Wispy Vines Stencil

Mother's Day Card with Dimension

Today we launch the second technique video tutorial this year from Technique Junkies.  Our card today is a dimensional Mother's Day card that uses a Distress Oxide background, Nuvo Embellishment Mousse through a Stencil, TJ Stamps, and some fairy dust thrown in for good measure. Here is our card:

I also wanted to say thank you to those of you who offered their opinion on the videos. Please note that I will try to narrate as I shoot the video so that they are not quite as serious ; ) Apparently some of you like my sense of humor!
I hope you are a little inkspired by today's issue. See you next week!
