Shimmer Glimmer Sparkle and Shine CD Blog Hop!!

Welcome!  Do you love shimmer and glimmer and shine? Then have we got a Blog Hop for YOU!!

Today is a big day for  the Technique Junkie community!  The Design Team has the pleasure of  showing our Blog readers a few of the gorgeous techniques on the newest CD!  So hop along and enjoy the journey through our Blog HOP.  This blog post is the beginning of the Blog Hop and we all hope you will enjoy the hop!

My first card (above) is the Foiled and Glittered technique.  This is one of those techniques that made me say, "Oh wonderful!  I have that gold leafing and I haven't used it in years!"  There  is no stamping but I used a embossing folder and a die cut on this card.  The shimmer is just beautiful on this card!

My next card (above) uses the Distressed Pearls technique.  Stamp credits belong to Artistic Outpost.I also used the Cuttlebug Smoosh technique from November 2007. I used Distress Stains instead of brayering ink. Oh so shimmery!

This card (above) uses resist technique called Distress Shimmer Resist. This is one of my favorites on this CD.  You never know exactly how the card stock will look when you are done, and I love the variations of colors and the shimmer on this card.   Stamp credits go to Stampers Anonymous and Stampin' Up! Just gorgeous shimmers!

My last card (above) for you today uses the Distress Marker Shimmer.  It is a wonderful way to create an unusual background.  I also used some scraps of designer paper for additional interest.  Stamp credits go to Stampin' Up. Such sparkle!

I just love this Glimmer Shimmer Sparkle and Shine CD.  I know you are going to love all of the cards and projects from the Design team on this Blog Hop!  Make sure you visit every blog on the Hop.

Happy Birthday Blog Hop -- starting with Judy Jackson

Hello from Judy Jackson.  This has been an exciting month hasn't it -- watching Pat Huntoon post all of those wonderful cards and techniques day after day!  So today the entire Design Team wish a very Happy Birthday to the Technique Junkie newsletter --- without which we would not know all of these wonderful techniques.  I hope the Technique Junkie newsletter has many, many happy returns!  Just in case you didn't know by now, but I love learning new techniques!

Pat Huntoon asked the Design Team to share a card (or more) on this blog hop -- and we are to use one of our favorite techniques!  There are a lot of techniques I use a lot so I had to think about that a bit.  But my absolute TWO favorite techniques are Antique Glimmers and Cuttlebug Smoosh.   So I designed 3 cards to share with you today and they all use Antique Glimmers and one card also uses Cuttlebug Smoosh!  I really enjoy using two techniques on one card!

The first card in this blog post uses an adorable little girl from Stamping Bella.  The verse is from Stampin' Up!  I used Distress Markers scribbled on plastic for the watercolors to paint the little girl.

I bought this beautiful house stamp from Heather's Stamping Haven in Nepean, Ontario, Canada.  It is a Frog Whisker's Ink stamp.  I was there for a family reunion and if there is time, I always want to go there. The verse is from Stampin' Up.  I used a scrap of  a die cut underneath the focal image which I colored with my Copic markers.

This card uses both the antique Glimmers technique and the Cuttlebug Smoosh technique.  I used Mudd Puddles sand and shells for the embellishment.  Stamps are from Stampin' Up! and Artistic Outpost.  I used watercolor pencils to color the focal image.

So here you have three examples using Antique Glimmers from the December 2009 Technique Junkie newsletter and one example using both Antique Glimmers and Cuttlebug Smoosh (October 2007).  All three cards have very different looks.

I have been a subscriber of the Technique Junkie newsletter since the summer of 2003.   It  has been one of the most worthwhile stamping - scrapping purchases I have ever made.  The newsletter has enabled me to more fully utilize the products I already own, and in addition to understand how to use many of the products on the market -- both new and old!  If you are not a subscriber, I have to ask why not? I do not believe you would be sorry.

And now for the rest of the Birthday Blog Hop!  There is a wonderful prize at the end of Pat Huntoon's blog.  One of the comment posters will be in a random drawing and will become a Guest Designer for one newsletter! That is an exciting opportunity!

Here is the list of the Blog Hop participants.  follow the Hop along until you get to Pat's blog.  And please enjoy the Happy Birthday Blog Hop!

I am going to tell you now that some Design Team members and Pat Huntoon herself live under the "most likely" areas to lose power because of Hurricane Sandy. So please be patient with this blog hop and with Pat Huntoon. There may well be broken links because of the storm.   Thanks for your understanding.

Cuttlebug Smoosh and Crepe Paper Flowers

Hello Technique Friends!! Kathie McGuire here to share a card I made using the Cuttlebug Smoosh technique from 10/07. My apologies in advance not getting a better picture showing more of the technique (card has already been sent or I would re-take). I covered a lot of it up with the second layer. I thought perhaps the rest of the card may inspire you to go try the technique anyway! Hope so!

The Cuttlebug Smoosh layer started this whole project, so after I had that completed I decided to delve into trying to make a little flower from crepe paper. It's delicate, but ends up being a bit more sturdy than I originally expected. I squished this flower (unintentionally) several times before it actually was given away. Each time, I was able to straighten out the petals and restore its original shape.

I hope you've enjoyed today's card; make it a creative weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

Somethin' Sweet....

Is what this little Ghostie is!! Jane Bosi comin' at you with a little Halloween fun! I know, I'm cutting it a little close with my Cuttlebug Smoosh (August 2008) share--last week's Try That Technique--but didn't it turn out cool? LOL!! Thursday is just around the corner so, if you haven't tried it--get goin'! There will be a new technique to try in a few days!

The Ghostie stamp is from I Brake For Stamps; the sentiment is Amuse. I've had my eye on that little guy for quite some time. He sure was fun to color with my Copic markers. I also had the chance to pull out my Copic airbrush--that always makes for a good day!

Speaking of good days.....go have one!
