Antique Glimmers and Smooched Metal by Judy Jackson

Isn't this little girl adorable?  She is a wonderful stamp from Pat Huntoon's new stamp line - Technique Junkie stamps -- formally Stamp Camp. This stamp line has some beautiful images you would really enjoy using.  Check them out at http://www.stampcamp.com/ .

I used Memento ink to stamp the image and then colored her with Copic markers.  She is layered on a piece of background paper created with the TJ Antique Glimmers technique from December 2009.   The metal flower was painted with Smooch Paint using the  Smooched Metal technique from the October 2010 issue of TJ.  She makes a wonderful Spring card - and oh that it were truly Spring!  I can hardly wait.  I layered the flowers on a piece of punched out Mulberry paper.

Home Frame - Using Morphed Tag Title from Scrapbook CD

This is Judy Jackson sharing this project. I apologize for the flash shine in the picture - I tried several ways to take the picture and this one was the best. :(

I have been in "stamping withdrawal" for a few weeks. I had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand the end of October -- and I am definitely right handed! Very little ambidextrous here! That was a real shock that I wasn't going to be allowed to stamp due to the pressure of the block on the palm of the hand. That was a bummer let me tell you! However, it is healing well and I am very thankful for that. I have the left hand done on November 30 but that shouldn't affect stamping at all! I do not hold a block in my left hand!

Our daughter and son-in-law (and our 3 young granddaughters) are buying their very first home! After renting for years this is a big move for them. In October I saw a sign in a store with this sentiment and my husband and I wanted to give them a housewarming gift with this sentiment. I wanted to make it "myself" and of course craft it! Waiting to make the sign was hard until the surgeon said I could stamp "a little bit." (Very few hand made Christmas cards this year.)

I used grunge board to cut out the letters in HOME, printed the sentiment on vellum, stamped the verses on the tags (all Stampers Anonymous) - which all have to do with "love" and "home," and pulled out all the technique stops for this project. The tags are a morphed idea form the Tag Title technique from the TJ Scrapbooking CD. I used Distress Stains on the letters, on the mat board, and used the Antique Glimmer technique to distress the background paper. I used both the TJ Smooched Metal technique and acrylic paint to add color the metal embellishments, lots of glimmer spray here and there. I used a fair amount of ribbon and lace - coloring the ribbon and lace with Distress Inks and distress Stains.

I am very pleased with the results -- and I hope they are too!

A Vist from the Past - Smooched Metal by Judy Jackson

Hello from Judy Jackson. There I was just whiling away the time in front of my computer watching different videos on techniquies from the summer CHA. A pretty good way to wait for the storm to be over, right? Fortunately, we never lost power due to Hurricane Irene- although the lights have been flickering a bit tonight. There was this video tutorial on making jewelry with your Hot Pot. I watched it several times and every time the little wheels in my brain kept turning. Hmmm --- I have a Hot Pot sitting in the drawer and it is very, very lonely! I put it on my "wish list" for Christmas one year and got it! However, I have never used it. But I have used it this weekend!

I didn't even own any of the jewelry findings the demo artist was using and I thought what can I use that I already own in my stash? Surely there is something! And there was.

But I didn't want just plain metal pieces -- I wanted them to be the colors I wanted them to be! So I brought out my bottles of Smooch Paint and painted the metal flowers. After I wrapped the slide frame with the metal tape, I painted the Smooch Paint on that too and then added some alcohol inks as well. It was fun.

Now I have to decide how I will hand this new pendant I have. And I got so excited about this whole process I have ordered some different jewelry findings and I will make some Christmas presents!

So I took this older technique of Smooched Metal from the October/November 2010 Technique Junkie newsletter and brought it to a whole new level -- and it was fun! And it is useful as well.

Smooched Metal Meets Worn Wallpaper by Judy Jackson

As a rubber stamper I have learned to appreciate the various qualities of many inks. Not all inks are created equal. Distress Inks are a unique kind of dye based inks and they are really fun to work with. I have a friend who came over and we spent the morning playing with Distress Inks and using several of the TJ techniques that use Distress Inks. She is a subscriber to the TJ newsletter but hadn't used her Distress Inks until recently.

So this is a card I worked on toward the end of the morning. I didn't get it finished until tonight. The metal tag near the top is where I used the Smooched Metal technique. I used the Brick Texture Fades embossing folder and that is where I used the Worn Wallpaper technique. I added some filmstrip acetate strip, a vintage photo, a ticket piece, Tissue Tape, various ribbons, and a chip board button from my stash to add different elements to the card. This card is larger than most cards I have created. It will likely be a "one-of-a-kind" card. It was certainly fun to make!

I used stamps from Stamper Anonymous and Inkadinkadoo.

I chose this gorgeous single rose from Class Act stamps to feature as the focal image. I water colored the rose and added a few highlights with a red marker. My word stamp in the lower panel is from a stamp set called Our Family Tree by Mark's Finest Papers. The metal embellishment uses a technique called Smooched Metal from the October TJ Newsletter.
