Colorful Life

Hey, Stampers! It's Ro here today to share a quick and colorful card with you. I am loving this Live in Color Stamp. It is so fun to color and you can make it as colorful or as subtle as you wish. For this one, I chose bright colors and a bit of twinkle!

To start, I stamped an oldie-but-goodie for the background. I used Feathers (S509) stamped with Inkon3 Fadeout Ink. I'm digging how this gives such a subtle background, which is perfect for the bright feather. I didn't want anything to battle it for attention.

I used a blow pen to add just a touch of color. I then trimmed down the piece and mounted it to the card base along with a blue panel. I stamped Live in Color (SD929) two times...once on the background panel, and once on a scrap piece of cardstock. I wanted to cut out the colored feather and pop it up a bit with foam squares.I used Kaisercraft Gel Pens to color in the image and add a bit of sparkle to the sentiment as well. These pens are pretty amazing, in my book. They go on so smooth and there are so many colors and styles from which to choose (glitter, metallic, neon and pastel). Here is a close-up of the feather. I was actually able to capture the glittery shine.

After I assembled the card, I added a pretty feather behind the image for a little contrast and interest.

I hope you found a little inspiration today and a bit of color to brighten your world. If you like these products, you can save 10% on your order any time of the month by adding the code "TJ10Ro" at checkout. Cool, eh?

Something Beautiful

I wanted to take myself out of my comfort zone a bit so I decided to make this card in a mixed media style. I used acrylic paints and a credit card to make both the background and the floral panel.

In my Misti, I started with the floral panel, stamping using Versa Fine ink on Acrylic paper. I made a couple passes with the ink, but as this is a heavily textured paper, the centre of the flowers did not completely cover. So I painted in the area with my Nuvo Aqua Flow Pen in Obsidian Black.
I then heat embossed the panel using clear embossing powder.

Using Vicki Boutin Acrylic Paints and a credit card I applied the paint, then rubbed the panel with a paper towel to get a blend. As the acrylic paint lightens the black areas I once again stamped the image with the Versa Fine ink, coloured in the flower centres with the Nuvo pen and heat embossed with the clear embossing powder.
I did not have any card stock that would suit the background for my panels, so I did the same technique with the credit card, applying first a layer of the lighter paint, then the darker, as I wanted more of the dark to be the background. Using my Cut-Align ruler I measured the panels and cut with my Fiskar's Craft Knife. I then went over the floral panels with a thin layer of Micro Glaze.
To finish my card I attached the background panel to my black card base. I matted the floral panels with the black card stock and using my Cut-Align ruler measured for placement of each of the panels. In my Mini Misti I stamped the sentiment and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. Before attaching it to the card I splattered with Nuvo Midas Touch Aqua Shimmer, then attached the sentiment using foam squares.

I hope you have enjoyed this card today. Thank you for joining us.

TJ Inkspirations: Diamond Fabric Tote Bag - LIVE!

First of all, I need to let you know that our office will be closed until Tuesday, May 28th. Not only is it a holiday weekend, but my son is getting married out of town on Saturday and I will be joyously celebrating with our family and friends. I am sorry for the inconvenience, but I am sure you will understand!  All orders will be processed on Tuesday morning.

That being said, I am happy to send you today's video. Last weekend we were in Syracuse/Auburn at a rubber stamp festival, and we had the opportunity to film the easy process using the IZINK Diamond Glitter Paint from Aladine on fabric.  I think it is a great introduction into these gorgeous glitter paints!

Please note that I was filmed in a vertical orientation, so the video will not fill your screen. We also had no control over the music in the venue, so be patient with that, too!

Here is the tote bag we made from the video. It is absolutely spectacular in person!

Stop and Smell the Flowers

My plan for today was to create a card for two challenges ... The Paper Players Clean & Simple Plants Challenge and the CAS on Friday Polka Dot Challenge.

Remember, you can use my discount code TJ10Stephanie for 10% off any products in the Technique Junkies Store.

For my plant, I chose the gorgeous Dahlias stamp.  For my polka dots, I used the Circles Make Circles Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  I used my Life Changing Blender Brushes for my stencil, and while I love the effect, I believe the polka dots a bit too heavy to be considered Clean & Simple on my first card.

For my second card, I only stamped my Dahlia once with my MISTI and used a lighter green for the stencil and lessened the amount of polka dots.  I used my Cut-Align for my Stop and Smell the Flowers sentiment banners.

Ruffle your Feathers

Hello fellow stampers!  How do you like my five hour card?  Yup, five hours to make this card.  I knew that I wanted a rustic look, and the planning took so many hours to do, replacing idea after idea, until I finally found the right combination of stamps, embossing powder and colours.  Please tell me you find yourself in the same position as me.  I can't be the only one to spend so many hours planning out a card.

This stamp, called Ruffle your Feathers, is a new release for Technique Junkies for the month of May.  Don't despair that you missed out on the "new release discount" because you can grab my code TJ10Beth for 10% off of anything in the store, excluding clearance items.

Ruffle Your Feathers?

I used the very cute Ruffle Your Feathers from the Technique Junkies May Stamp release.  The rooster was colored with  my Copic markers.  I added a few sequin type embellishments to the focal image.

The background paper was created from a piece  of  8x8 inch paper  commercially available  from a "big box store."  I sprayed several colors of Distress Chalk ink sprays. I have learned that spraying over some type of background paper gives you a more interesting look than just spraying over plain white card stock.  At least I liked it better.  Then I used several stencils here and there over the sprays.  I used Lace Doily StencilWispy Vines Stencil,  and an Art Anthology Stencil called Dot Matrix.

Then I added ink here and there to the Technique Junkies French Text.  I stamped the randomly inked areas here and there on the background.

The burlap ribbon is really straight, I just have a hard time taking an absolutely straight picture!

Pat Huntoon is offering this very fun stamp for free!  The Make a Wish stamp is free with a $30 purchase (before taxes) - this cannot be purchased in May, it’s only available as free with purchase.

Have a wonderful day -- and make some time to get inky!!

Ruffle Your Feathers

Sometimes you just need a reminder to let things go, relax, and be calm.  This stamp is a great reminder to do just that.

I used Technique Junkies stamp Ruffle Your Feathers.

For the background, I used an embossing plate from my stash.  I rubbed green distress ink over an embossed panel, and attached it to an A2 card front.

I stamped the Ruffle Your Feathers and colored the rooster with Arteza fine liners markers.  I love these pens for their vibrant, rich colors and really fine tips.  They work perfectly for tiny areas like the ones on this rooster!

I used a circle die to cut it, and attached it to the card front with foam tape.  A few feathers embellish the card.

Inside:  Stamp from the Keep Chickens set.

I hope you are inspired by my card today.  Thanks for stopping by.

"Fore" Your Birthday

Guy cards. Not always easy. Am I right? Well, this one IS easy. I promise! And only one layer, so no extra postage. No muss, no fuss. Perfect for your guy!

When ya start with a great stamp, or two, ya end up with a great card. I used Golf Club Patent and Donuts Happy Birthday to pair up for a great guy card. Using an A2 card base, I simply lined up the background stamp in the MISTI and stamped twice with Ink On 3 Fade-Out Ink. I've discovered this ink, which is designed for no-line coloring, works fabulously as a subtle background color. The sentiment was stamped with Memento Ink (Dandelion), then I highlighted the letters with the awesome metallic and glitter pens from the Kaisercraft Gel Pen Set of 48. If you've never tried these gel pens before, you don't know what you're missing. They go on like "buttah"! (I'm a little in love with them!) A little washi tape on the corner of the card finished it off nicely and in a "manly" kind of way. lol

Did you know that Technique Junkies carried all this cool stuff? You should check it out! Stamps, Inks, Stencils, Markers and more! And you can save a cool 10% any day of the week by using the code "TJ10Ro" at checkout. How sweet is that?!

Well, I'm off to whip up a few more of these masculine cards for my stash. Hope you found some inspiration today!

Haaayyyy

Hello all! Kia here with you today to share this fun card using one of the new images called Hay Girl.

Using my nini Misti on Neenah card stock I stamped the image with Versafine Clair Nocture ink. I then stamped the image with Memento ink on Ranger Distress card stock for the added texture, along with the slight colour difference it makes the cow.
I fussy cut the cow's body and ears out from the distress paper, then added touches of colour with Copic Markers, and also added colour to the greenery on my card base. I then styled the cow and attached it to my card base using foam squares.
To finish today's card I added a few gumdrops in black.

I had great fun making this card today, and I hope you enjoy it as well. Thank you for visiting.
