As Cute as Can Bee

Good morning friends, it's Beth Norman here with the cutest technique called Paper Peek Through which can be found on the Bodacious Backgrounds Stamps CD.

I had insomnia on the weekend and woke up at 3:00 a.m., and worked on backgrounds from then until bedtime, so now I have lots of backgrounds to turn into cards.

When I chose my stamps I went looking for this particular paper in my stash, and as luck would have it, it was my last piece of paper, which is so appropriate for my card.

All stamps are from Technique Junkies Stamps.

Have a good day.

Hetty's Embellished Circles

A wonderful technique in the new newsletter is
embellished circles
It is a little like the millefiori technique from the last
newsletter (and I like that one too).
I love how the stamping and the embellishments
come together in this technique.

On the first card you see the technique used as it is
explained in the tutorial.
On the 2nd card you see the technique combined
with a picture that was first stamped and masked.
Then the circles were added and a bit of glimmermist.
This way it has a more grungy look.

Used stamps are from Stampin'Up! and Steampunk.

Have a creative day!

Try that Technique: Go Retro (and 2003 is on sale for 1/2 price, too)

Ah...2003. Such a good year. And this technique -- it was so popular when I first published it! I remember when I first thought of doing this one (yes, I do, even 7 years later). I was in the shower.. and had a "what-if" moment. Now I know you see this around and have seen it around for a long time -- that is because it was published 7 years ago! It was new for it's time. It was originally published in the June/July 2003 Technique Junkie Newsletter.

Let me take YOU back. If you would like to receive the six issues published in 2003, you have from now until May 5 to purchase them for half-price: $9.00 plus postage ($1.56 to US addresses, $1.81 to Canada, $2.76 to Europe, and $4.30 to Australia). Email me for an invoice. You do not need to be a subscriber to take advantage of this offer.

My card uses the technique with a plethora of pinks. The flower images are from Pink Paisley and the words are from Inkadinkado. It is just a fun card.

Now it's your turn! Try this technique and leave a link to your online post on Beth's Mr. Linky post, or if you prefer, simply upload your creations to the TJ Yahoo Group. Can't wait to see your take on my Retro Golden Oldie!

Try that Technique -- Modern Art

Today's Try that Technique is Modern Art from the April 2005 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter. I forgot all about this technique -- but I LOVE the color intensity it produces on your cards! One word of caution, though, you may want to clear emboss your whole card -- sometimes the ink can take forever to dry on this one.

My card uses a sentiment and girl stamp from Repeat Impressions. I am trying to dig deep into my stamp stash these days to find my most underused stamps...and this is one of them. Not an indictment of the stamp itself, of course. I still love these stamps as much today as the day I bought them!

Now it is your turn to Try that Technique!

Don't have this issue? No problem! You may purchase the six 2005 issues for HALF-PRICE. From now through Wednesday, April 14th, the 2005 issues are $9.00 plus postage. Email me for an invoice TODAY -- you do NOT need to be a current TJ subscriber!

Can't wait to see your art!

Try That Technique -- and another 1/2 Price Sale!

Welcome to The Try that Technique Challenge!
Today's Challenge Technique: Geometric Overstamping from the April 2005 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter.

My Geometric Overstamping card uses stamps from Firecracker Designs by Pamela. I layered these stamps -- and popped them a bit, too -- on a Simple Whitewash Background (August 2009 Technique Junkie Technique).

Don't have the April 2005 issue? No worries! Starting today (through Wednesday, March 31st) the 2005 issues are on sale for HALF PRICE!*   Instead of $18.00, you will be able to purchase the entire 2005 year (6 issues)  for only $9.00 (plus actual postage). That way, EVERYONE can play! Email me for an invoice: phuntoon@optonline.net -- I will get those issues right out and send you the password to the subscriber-only online tutorial pages for 2005 immediately so you can play right away! You do NOT need to be a current subscriber to take advantage of this deal. Let's see what YOU make!
The Try that Technique challenge was started by TJ Designer Beth Norman and loyal TJ subscriber Diana Enns. They have selected some "way back" techniques for you to try out. If you do try a technique -- post it to the egroup or put a link to your card on this post -- your card may end up on the Technique Junkie egroup home page!
