Long before I fell in love with Technique Junkies Stamps, I fell in love with the great Techniques that Pat featured.
I decided to go back through the archives and revisit one of those Techniques this week - Pastel Embossing. The original technique required a stamp positioner, so the MISTI makes it much easier to achieve. I used the new Modern Foliage Stamp and some vintage Pastels I picked-up at a local used craft supply store. I stamped the image in white kraft ink on white cardstock for my first attempt.
I used multiple shades of blue pastel to then color over the image. I thought the image would work well because of all the lines, but it likely would work better with stamps that had a bit more solid space ... but the cool thing, is I like the different result you get with this type of image too.
After coloring, I used my MISTI to stamp a second time and then clear embossed. For my card I paired it with two shades of teal cardstock and a sentiment from one of my favorite Technique Junkies sets - Grand Greetings. I wanted a sentiment that would let the background shine.
Next I stamped with the same white ink, but this time on light blue cardstock using shades of brown pastels.
I embossed the second one with clear embossing powder, and then did the same stamping and used rose gold embossing powder on the third one. Here are all three backgrounds side-by-side.
I used the same card layout for the last two cards, but swapped out the sentiments and added some sequins.
I mounted these stripes on a scrap of patina designer paper and stamped the sentiment in a darker brown.
I made the third card a bit larger, so I could leave more space between the panels for the glittery sparkle to shine through. I used the same Rose Gold Embossing powder for the sentiment from Grand Greetings.
I added rose gold sequins.
I hope you have fun looking through the Technique Gallery for new techniques to try with your current supplies ... it's always fun trying new things.
