Technique of the Week! Watered Crayons....

Happy Monday!!   A great big thank you to everyone who has been playing along with the Technique of the Week feature!!  Your artwork has truly been inspiring!  This week, we announce another great technique from the April 2013 newsletter!

This week, our technique is:  Watered Crayons.  This fun technique produces interesting and versatile art pieces.  My piece, used as a background to highlight an awesom image from Rubbernecker Stamps, is the perfect splash of color to pull my card together.  Additional stamps used are from Impression Obsession and Amuse.

Birdy Bands

This week's Technique of the Week (until Sunday!) is called Inky Bands.  Here is my take on it.  I just got the bird stamps (fiskars) in the mail the other day and had to get some ink on them.  Hope you enjoy (pun...hahahahah).

Holly Brown: Bands of Color Butterfly

Hi Junkies!  It's Holly posting today, and the Technique of the Week is Bands of Color from the April/May 2013 issue.  This is a great technique for backgrounds and I've gone with a spring-y pastel color combo today.  I used the Bands of Color technique on the white background and then I used my square Spellbinders dies to cut out a piece in the middle so my focal piece would match up with the bands in the background.  The butterfly and sentiment are from Stampin Up and I added a couple of small pearls to the center of the butterfly.

Bands of Color - Technique of the Week

Isn't this fun to have the Technique of the Week back again to challenge us to do something new? This week it is Bands of Color from the current newsletter. 

And now for a confession -- I should have done my card before today. But we have been very busy and are now away on vacation for a short time.  So I brought products and card stock with me -- no Internet where we are but general and shared wifi in a community center.  So here I am.

I love this image of these little girls walking in the sea grasses and the gentle sea breezes blowing their hair. It is a retired image from Stampin' Up.  I water colored the image.

You have seen some wonderful examples so far and I am happy to add my two cards

amongst those that have already been posted.

Some times there is a b/g technique that you like so much you don't want to cover it up.

I feel this way about this technique and so I kept it simple on both of my examples.

The above card uses a stamp from I Brake for Stamps as the focal image.

The sentiment is from Smartworks Stamps

The stamp on this card is from Hearts in Touch.

Technique of the Week - Bands of Color

Good Morning! It is Monday  Tuesday, and it is time for the Technique of the Week! This week we are featuring the Bands of Color Technique from the April 2013 issue of the Technique Junkie  Newsletter. 

My sample uses  gorgeous sea-themed stamps from Art Neko. The whole sheet of stamps is just stunning! I wanted to capture the feel of the sea with the green and blue tones. Okay, let's see what you can do! Post your bands of color card to the TJ egroup for everyone to see. You may end up on the group homepage! You will have fun with this technique -- it is pretty, easy and makes a great background for almost every stamp. Enjoy!

Technique Of the Week: Alcohol Ink Splatters

Hello from Kathie McGuire. We're bringing you a project from the current newsletter and hope that you'll join in the fun by trying the technique and sharing it with all of the other TJ fans on the Yahoo group. This is the Alcohol Ink Splatters from the latest newsletter. If you want a fast, colorful, knock-your-socks-off background for an image or just for an embellisment (like the flower I used here), then drag out your alcohol inks and spend the next five or ten minutes creating a fabulous one-of-a-kind stunning piece of art. I didn't have canned air, so I took apart an old blow pen, removed the dried out pen, and then used the blow bulb by squeezing it closely to the alcohol inks. The process worked great! This is one of the best techniques I've ever played with on TJ; it's extremely fast, fun, and the results are quite impressive. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your day! Kathie
