Wet Stencil - April 2009

Hi Junkies....Tricia here...

I pulled out an old favorite for a birthday card for my father-in-law in Florida.  He has a "gecko bar" so I thought I would do up this cute little cameleon (doodle dragon designs) for his card.  I know it is not a gecko but close enough....LOL.

I used my Stampin Up! watercolor crayons and a stencil that I picked up in the acmoore wall stencil section.  It was hard trying to figure out a background to go with this cute image.  I also snuck in there the "out of the box" technique which I love because it allows the beautiful background to show.

The sentiment is from Stampin Up!

Faux Metal - Steampunk Shoes

Hi Junkies,

Tricia here...My hubby took me to a new scrapbook store in Massachusetts this weekend and they had this stamp and OMG did I fall hard.

I brought it right home and colored it up.  I love using my copics to do silver and gold.  The store had a sample card and I saw some Stampendous design team cards for inspiration. I loved embellishing it with the cogs and my silver and gold pearl pen.  I used my metallic alcohol inks to change some of the cogs from copper to siler and gold. 

Once I colored it I scoured the technique junkies newsletter to find the perfect background and wouldn't you know it  FAUX METAL was it...Fun, easy and PERFECT.

Stamp: stampendous

Simply Framed

Good Morning!  Ann Clack here with a easy, quick technique from the August/Sept Technique Junkie newsletter.  This is a technique called simply framed.  If you need a card with lots of pop and without layers (for mailing), this is a great technique.   Since the card was white, it tended to disappear on the blog post, so I created a black digital border. 

The flower and swirl are by Stampendous.  I was tickled to use the flower.  It was the first time that stamp has seen ink!  The butterfly is from Sweet & Sassy Stamps.  They are a TJ advertiser and right now they are in the middle of one of their new releases!  Head on over there and check it out!! 

Mica Glaze Embossing

Good morning, Beth Norman here.  I haven't posted for the past month because my computer hard drive died, but as luck would have it, my laptop has this Mica Glaze Embossing technique card.  You will find Mica Glaze in the August issue.

Blocked Background

Today my August/September Newsletter in print

arrived in my mailbox. Browsing through all the pages

this "Blocked Background" caught my eye. I did not have a go

at this technique when I did the design cards, 

so today I went to my craft room and made this card.

I used the Art Neko swan stamp and a 

Michael Strong sentiment.

Here a close up of apart of the card.

 I cut the sentiment with a spellbinder die and fastened 

with a black brad. This is such a fun technique.

 I hope you give it a try too.

More copic stencils

Hello Junkies,

Tricia here...I am SOOO hooked on this technique.  I used it to create a cool background (at least I think so) for a birthday card for my hubby.  He is way into Mustangs and this is almost like the one he has (his is a convertible).

I colored it with copics and put it on a background made from the copic stencil technique.

Flocked Lines

Hi, Junkies.....Ann Clack here with a submission to one of the techniques of the week....Flocked Lines.  I was searching through my stamps for one that I wanted to use for this technique when this Hampton arts stamp jumped out at me.  It just seemed perfect for the technique even though it wasn't a flourish like some of the samples.  Wanted to keep it CAS since the flocking is really the star!!  Instead of gluing on the ribbon, I punched to small holes in the cardstock and tied it on.  You know it won't fall off that way!!
