Winter Wonderland

Jerri here to share another new Christmas stamp called Winter Wonderland.

I am a little unhappy with the quality of this picture because the card came out really cute in person.  I did this card in different layers. By stamping this several times, once in blue and twice in green, I was able to cut the pieces and layer them to create this card.

1. Stamp the entire stamp in in blue and set aside.
2. Stamp the entire stamp in green on two separate pieces of cardstock.  These pieces will be cut and then layered on top of the blue.
3. On the first green card, cut along the snow line and glue it on top of the blue. This will give you a blue sky and green trees. You can use pop dots if you choose so that this piece sits a little higher.
4. On the second green paper, cut out a few of the trees and then put them on top of the trees already on your card with pop dots to give them dimension. 

You could add some sparkle to the snow or to the trees. I left mine plain but I think the sparkle would be pretty too.

Fright Night....

Hello Junkies!

It's the Crafty Nurse back today with a frightful card featuring another new September Release Stamp by Technique Junkies.  If you haven't had time to participate in the Design Team Blog Hop, I encourage you to check it out to see all the amazing holiday stamps being offered.  Also, Pat is offering all September New Release Stamps at 15% off through September 8th so grab them while you can.

For my card I used "Black Cat SD615"http://techniquejunkies.com/black-cat/ which I inked with Versafine Black Onyx Ink and heat embossed with clear powder.  The background is made with Tim Holtz Spider Web Stencil and Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink. 

For the card base I began by creating the "Herringbone Technique" from the Designer Paper Perfection CD then ran that through a Darice brick wall embossing folder for more texture, and deepened the color with Black Soot Distress Ink. 

To finish, I stamped the sentiment from another new release stamp called, "Fright Night SDX054" and heat embossed with white powder.

Even though we are fast approaching the holidays, please find some time to de-stress and get inky!

Release Day - Welcome to the HOP!

Happy September, Stampers!  Today is September 1st, and there are 15 new stamps being released at www.techniquejunkies.com! There is Always Hope

Hi, it's Gini. I really like the bold graphic of this Contemporary Floral stamp from Technique Junkies, and wanted to design a card that stayed true to the modern feel.  I stamped the image once with black Staz-on ink, then I spread colors of distress inks on my mat and spritzed with water, then used that to stamp over the base image.  The card was finished with the Always Hope stamp.  Both of these stamps were new releases for August.

Be Inspired

Good morning Junkies!  I have another journal page for you today.  I saw Let's Face It 4 and knew I had to do something special with it.

I started with a page out of my excess paint journal (what I call my journal where all the excess stuff that's on my craft mat ends up).  It was created with Art Anthology Tango, and Mardi Gras Velvet (added at different times), the Art Anthology Inspired Grunge stencil and Mud texture paste, and was then sprayed with Art Anthology Glorious and swiped with Orchid Velvet to fill in the white spaces.

I stamped Let's Face It 4 onto a piece of mixed media paper and then painted her with Art Anthology Sorbets in Knyan Copper, Viridian, Red Velvet, and Evergreen. Her face was painted with a mixed of Art Anthology Cotton and Portobello Velvet.  

I outlined "Inspired" with a white pen, stenciled "Create" using the Art Anthology Soliloquy stencil with some Mud texture paste, then painted the words with Art Anthology Viridian Sorbet.  Finally, I outlined "Create" with a white pen and added "BE" above the "Inspired" using the Almano Alphabet stamp set.  For the finishing touch, I laid down a line of clear-drying glue on the top and bottom of the page and then sprinkled on Express-O Yourself Prills.

Life is A Song! by JUdy Jackson

One thing I have learned -- is that life is full of changes. Some changes are good, and some are not so good.  My husband passing away was not a good change. My daughter and  family moving in with me is basically a good change.  Moving from a larger stamp room to a smaller is both good and not so good. The not so good  aspect of that was having to sort through and and get rid of stuff.  The "good" aspect of all this is sorting through all of this stuff and deciding what will I really keep and really use.  So really getting rid of some stuff is also a "good" thing.

One thing I knew I would keep is all of my "card starts."  Although now it is in a basket and not a plastic drawer.   The parts of the background on this card were from this basket. Then I added the focal images. 

The Technique Junkie stamps I used are Life is a Song http://techniquejunkies.com/life-is-a-song/ and Treble Clef http://techniquejunkies.com/treble-clef-small/.  I stamped both of these on card stock vellum, used my Xyron machine to adhere it to a pale yellow card stock.  I then mounted that panel onto black card stock and trimmed off the excess.  I added part of a black pearl and rhinestone embellishment. It is just lovely.

The saying is so true. Sing your life song - and make a cheery tune!

Zebra Quotes

Happy Saturday Junkies! Pam here today to share a fun project featuring a pair of Technique Junkies August releases:  SD 622 Zebra ATC and SS047 Zebra Quotes.

I love the monochromatic look of this piece. The background is a stencil mono print using The Crafter's Workshop Chevron stencil and Ranger Distress Ink Black Soot.

The Zebra was also inked  with Black Soot Distress and misted with water before stamping to givie it a softer  tone. The white space was filled in by using the Tim Holtz marker mister with the Black Soot Distress Marker. 

The Zebra quotes set comes with several sentiments- for this card I chose "A Zebra Does Not Change It's Spots" and stamped it with Versafine Black Onyx ink.
