Oceanside Adventure!

Like most people I enjoy seeing the ocean and watching the waves come in on the shore.  In this scene the waves don't come up on a sandy beach but on a rocky coast.  I had a friend ask me if this was in Maine.  It sure looks like it could be.

I used watercolor pencils to color in the image and a self made cloud stencil to sponge in the sky.

Mermaid Love

Hey Junkies!

The Crafty Nurse back with some inky inspiration for this wonderful July summer day!

Today, I made a card using a technique found on CD 10  from August/September 2012, called, Colorwash Alcohol Technique.  I then stamped the stunning "Mermaid Love S698" using Versafine Black Onyx Ink, then clear heat embossed.

The sentiment is also a July release called, "Better at the Lake - Set of 5 - SS059". I'm really pleased with how the ink colors stream, sailboat, and wheatgrass look like water.

Wax Paper Resist Tutorial

A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.  Hello, Beth Norman here with one of the very first techniques that Pat filmed and put into her October 2002 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter.  I decided to use the finished product in an usual way--rather than stamp out an image on the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 finished product, I cut mine up to create water for this lovely mermaid that comes from By the Sea, set of 6.  My sentiment comes from this set as well.  I find this set so versatile.  So let's visit my tutorial shall we...

Supplies:  iron, two white sheets of copier paper, two 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 glossy paper, wax paper, brayer, Kaleidocolor ink pad or a single ink pad

Scrunch up your wax paper very well.

Lay your first piece of copier paper on your ironing board.  Next, place your glossy paper face up and then open up your wax paper and lay on top of your glossy paper.

Take your second piece of glossy paper and lay the glossy side face down.  You will now have your glossy paper sandwiched between the wax paper.

Lay your second sheet of copier paper on top of your glossy and wax papers.

Using your iron set to dry, and not steam, firmly press and iron your glossy paper.

Next, brayer your ink over the entire surface.

Your finished piece is now ready to decorate.

A Good Friend

Thank you to Tonya Davidson who took my place last week on the Design Team Blog  because of my computer issues.  I really like my computer and it is wonderful when it works correctly but when it crashes -- oh my, the trouble it causes!  

This card uses several different Technique Junkie stamps. The beautiful face is from the set called Beautiful Faces - http://techniquejunkies.com/beautiful-faces/.   The background stamp is called Key Script - http://techniquejunkies.com/key-script/.  It was inked up with a deep, dark purple ink and stamped on designer paper.  It just works well and uses both of the watercolor pencil colors in her turban.  I used water color pencils to color in her face as well.  I sponged in sky and around the edge before layering her face on a crap of card stock that had some purple spritzes on it.  Then I added the verse called Good FRiend - http://techniquejunkies.com/a-good-friend/.

Life is a Canvas!

Happy Thursday Junkies! Pam here today-from sunny and HOT South Carolina.  I wanted to share a fun and vibrant project I created using two fantastic TJ stamps that just seem like they were made to go together- Life is a Canvas and Wasted.

The Distress Paint resist technique was used for both cards-stamped with a rainbow assortment of Distress Paint colors.  For the first card, I accented each color with the coordinating Distress ink. For the second, I let the white cardstock shine through!

The sentiment was stamped with Versafine black ink over top and covered with clear embossing power to make it pop!

Isn't this a fun stamp?!  I embossed it with white embossing powder onto a chalkboard print cardstock. 

But, you could get the same chalkboard effect if you white embossed on plain black cardstock.
