I stamped this Technique Junkie stamp Row - http://techniquejunkies.com/row/   with black archival ink on white card stock. And then i trimmed the card stock to be sure that the horizon line extended the full width of the horizon on the top layer.  Then I used round sponge applicators to add the colors for the water and for the night sky.  I used a white pen to add the moon's reflection in the water - at least I hope that is what it looks like~   I layered it on black card stock.

Then I cut 2 pieces of background papers from my stash -- water and trees -- to create an illusion of the continued background and horizon line.   I adhered the focal image layers on the background papers so the horizon continued on the sides of the focal image.

I layered all of the above on black card stock and then on the blue base card.

The First Sin

Hey Junkies!

The Crafty Nurse back with some inky inspiration for this wonderful August summer day! I created the background using "Acrylic Gesso Technique from Artistic Effects CD".  My focal image is one of the new August release stamps called, "Fancy Fruits SS057" that is currently 15% off until August 8th!

For my sentiment I pulled out "That's What She Said SS012" specifically using the "I feel a sin coming on" as a quip to Eve and the apple".  The gold spatters finish off the card.

Faux Embroidered Quilt Tutorial

Hello, Beth Norman here with the Faux Embroidered Quilt technique which can be found in the August 2014 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter.  For this version I knew I had to use this Strange Cats stamp on a quilt.  Where else would you find them but snuggled up on a nice comfy quilt?

When I set out to make a card, I pay close attention to the stamp I want to use and go through my binder that holds all of the issues of the Technique Junkie Newsletter.  Poor Al has to contend with me having that big honking binder on the coffee table for days at a time, until I find just the right technique.  I probably over analyze, but I want things to be perfect.

Strange Cats comes from the July release. Now onto my tutorial...

Supplies:  1" punch or paper trimmer; scissors (not in photo); Adhesive such as ATG tape runner, Xyron or glue stick; designer paper or colored card stock; white card stock; embossing folder (not in photo) and embossing machine (not in photo)

Cut or punch out an assortment of 1" squares.  This is where the "what was I thinking" designer paper comes in handy.  It makes for a good quilt.  LOL.

If you are using ATG tape runner, or hand held tape runner, you "draw" a series of lines that fills the entire surface.  You can see the lines in this photo.

Starting on the bottom left, lay your first triangle in place, followed by three more pieces across to the other end of your card stock.  Fill in your triangles as seen in this photo.

Next, with a pair of scissors, turn over your "quilt" to the backside and trim along the edges of the white card stock.  I do not recommend using a paper trimmer for this step as it may tear the smaller pieces of designer paper.

Using an embossing folder, run your "quilt" through your embossing machine.

Your quilt is now ready to decorate.

Hi Technique Junkie Friends!

This weekend I'm at a scrapbook retreat with 21 other ladies.  I've been scrapbooking with some of these ladies for 10 years but haven't seen in a few years so it's great to see them again.  Others, I'm meeting for the first time, so, that's fun, too!

We're at a pretty big house.  I mean it sleeps 22 of us and we each have a 6' table!  Their property is beautiful, too, which inspired me to make this card.

I used a die-cut set for the base of the card, again, very appropriate for this butterfly stamp.

I, also, used the SS013 Butterfly Quote set for the sentiment.

Today I wanted to share a quick art journal page that I created using a couple of Technique Junkies Stamps from my stash and a mix of Art Anthology Products.

Products Used: Technique Junkies #S655 Bullseye Blooms & #PS016 Beautiful Faces Art Anthology Colorations, Sorbet and Stencil. Ranger Archival Ink, Embossing Powder and Simple Stories Patter Paper, Brads.

Now Lets take a look at how I created my page....

I started by stamping #S655 Bullseye Blooms on the top and bottom of my page.

 Next I added a bit of color using a mix of Art Anthology Colorations and a splash of Sorbet.

I used the verses in the  #PS016 Beautiful Faces Collection with a bit of embossing powder.

Finally it was time to put it all together,,,

And there you have it easy peasy! A quick bold and bright Art Journal page,

At the Lake...

Good morning Junkies! I have a great project to share with you today using the stamp set Better at the Lake.  I decided to take one of the elements in the set, the anchor, and make a "patterned paper" like background-a great way to stretch your stamps.

All images were stamped with Versafine black and covered with clear embossing powder. The really fun part was coloring the anchors!

Dragonfly Card

Good morning Junkies!  Hope you are having a great day.  Today, I want to share a card I created recently with one of the newer releases.

I started with an index card and created the background using the Pull Color Tutorial on CD #10 (April 2012).  Once it was dry, I stamped Dragonfly Collage with Versafine ink using my Misti.  I then embossed with clear EP.

Spray a piece of cardstock with LSG Bells of Ireland Green and Summer Lovin Sun.  Stamp One Must Live and trim.  Mount both pieces on patterned scrapbook paper and edge with the pieces you trimmed from the colored piece of cardstock.  Adhere to a piece of black card.
