Crumpled Pile of Leaves

Good morning, Junkies!  It's Holly posting today and I'm sharing this crumpled, wrinkled, torn pile of leaves card with you.  It's really fun to make distressed backgrounds like this.  First, I stamped the Pile of Leaves from Technique Junkies with a permanent brown ink and let it dry.  Then I smooshed some distress inks onto a craft mat, spritzed them with water, and pressed my stamped paper into the inks.  The distress ink colors I used are Wild Honey, Mustard Seed, Peeled Paint, and Broken China.

Once my paper was covered with ink, I set it aside to let it dry completely.  Then I crumpled it up into a ball and carefully opened it up again, making sure to leave some of the texture in the paper.  I dragged a brown ink pad across the paper so it would catch some of the raised areas.  I also tore the edges off and dragged the brown ink pad around the edges.  After it was completely dry, I adhered it to a brown card base.  I did not flatten it down - you can see where some areas are sticking up.  I wanted to keep that awesome texture, so I used a lot of glue and pressed it down in just a few areas to make sure it stays stuck to the card.  Then I added the ribbon and the beautiful sentiment from the Leaf Corner Sentiments set.

Welcome Sweet Baby

I make cards. For a living, pretty much. So why is it that I never have a card for the event I need it for? I guess it's the adage: The shoemakers children never have shoes.

So my husband needed a baby card. I had none on hand, of course. So this card resulted - just a sweet little card to welcome the sweet child of one of the ladies in his office.

I used the Welcome Sweet Baby Set for this card - in fact, I used all 4 pieces of the set; three on the front and one inside. And as simple as this card may be, I think it is adorable! It was also really nice to make a card with a person in mind...

TJ Inkspirations: Blended Layered Leaves

Blended Layered Leaves
You have to try this!
A Colorful Life Designs recently released a wonderful group of leaf stencils that are just awesome! Each of the sets has 3 stencils in it, giving you a veined portion, a mask, and a negative mask. Having all three of these pieces in each pack gives you great options for using multiple inks and mediums.

Today I have a very short video (just 4 quick minutes!) using the stencils. Even with these fast and easy ideas, you will see that the stencils are pretty darn wonderful!

As of right now, the stencils are only available in packages. I have a limited quantity of each of these, and I will order more, but for now, we are only offering the limited quantities in the packages. You can find the packages HERE.

On another note, I do have a dozen order or so for people waiting for either the Shards Stencil or the Pastel Diamonds. Both of those products are in process getting here, so as for your patience. The Pastels are in a warehouse in Newark, awaiting clearance from customs, and the Shards Stencils are on a slight backorder. Both will be on their way shortly!

FLASH SALE!

We are discontinuing the Distress Oxide Inks from our product line-up, so all in-stock inks are 30% off! Hurry though, quantities are limited, and when they are gone, they are gone! Simply add them to your cart and the discount will automatically be applied.

Gold embossed leaves

Golden leaves are so luxurious! The Pile of Leaves background embossed in gold seems a perfect backdrop for the Leaf Corner Sentiments stamps as a focal image. The leaves on the front were just lightly colored with Distress Markers to add a bold hint of color. All stamps from Technique Junkies.

Hang Your Broom (#SD1123)

I created a video and posted it on my YouTube Channel demonstrating how to make these cards:

To create these cards, I used Pixie Spray to spray the back of the stencil. This is a low tack adhesive, available at Technique Junkies, gently holds stencils in place but won't tear paper. I used Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Ink to ink blend the Drippy Moon Stencil. Then, I stamped the Sentiments on white cardstock and trimmed them with my deckle trimmer. I had some dies in my stash that I used to accent the stamped panels. I used some ink to ink blend the edges of the stamped panels. I used foam tape to adhere the panels to the stenciled card base, then adhered the finished card panel to a black A2 card base.  Thank you for visiting today!
