Sunflowers: Three Versions

Good morning!  It's Holly posting today, and I thought I would share three different ways to color the gorgeous Sunflowers with Text stamp from Technique Junkies.  This is a beautiful stamp, and it's really easy to color.  In the first card above, I stamped the sunflowers with a brown dye ink and then I used Copic markers to color the entire piece.  I love the contrast of the bright blue and warm yellows and browns.  But I have two other options for using this stamp that don't require detailed coloring.  

For this brown and yellow card, I used some Colorful Blending Brushes and some distress inks to color the flowers and the background.  I stamped the Sunflowers with Text with Pinecone Versafine Clair ink, which is a permanent pigment ink that will not bleed when blending with dye/distress inks.  After this ink dried completely, I started by brushing some yellow ink over the center where the flowers are.  Then I used another brush and slowly built up some brown ink on the edges, stopping short of the yellow on the flowers.  I love that soft glow around the flower petals!  The sentiment is from the Inside Out: Young At Heart set.

For this third card, I stamped the sunflowers with Nocturne Versafine Clair ink.  This is another permanent ink, and I let it dry completely.  Then I used some scratch paper and some washi tape to mask off the top half of the sunflower panel.  Here's the fun and easy part - I used the mustard distress ink pad and pressed it directly onto the bottom half of the sunflowers and swiped the ink back and forth.  I repeated until the bottom half was covered with yellow ink.  

Then I carefully lifted up the scratch paper/washi tape and repositioned it to cover up the bottom half that I just covered with yellow ink.  This time, I used a blue distress ink and swiped it all over the top half until it was covered.  I carefully removed the scratch paper and washi tape and let the piece dry while I stamped the sentiment with the same blue ink.  This sentiment is from the Love, Faith, and Peace set.  

There you have it - three fun and easy ways to color this gorgeous Sunflowers with Text stamp.  Which one is your favorite - the Copic colored flowers, the ink blended flowers, or the direct-to-paper solid ink flowers?

using a couple of different colours of distress inks

sponged the background

then splat with some water drops.

The saying is stamped and embossed on vellum.

(be careful not to burn your paper)

then overlayed on a trees die cut.

Simple but effective.

Purrfect Boho

 Hello there!

I'm here today sharing two fun cards that I made, using some great new stamps, Cat Lady, You're Purrfect, and Beautiful Boho from the May Release, and one older sentiment, Throw Kindness.

Here's my first card:

Isn't this fun? 

The image and sentiment were stamped with black ink, and colored with alcohol markers. 

The stripes between the image and sentiment are actually narrow washi tape strips, in blue, green, magenta, purple, and gold. Wish they'd photo'd better! 

A bit of trim and bling, along with glossy accents on the eyeglasses, and this was finished!

Here's my second card:

I'm loving this Boho background stamp, and thought it would be fun to stamp in a bright, fun color. Pink jumped out at me, so pink, it was! The image was stamped onto white cardstock, and adhered to a pink card base. The sentiment was stamped, colored, and a clear glitter pen was applied over top of the confetti and sentiment. The sentiment was matted with pink cardstock, and adhered to the card front using dimensional foam pieces.

You are the Dad

Happy Hump Day to everyone in blog land! Today I am featuring two new images...Father and Son Fishing and the sentiment is Everyone Wishes and they can be found here. These are just two of the fabulous new releases at Technique Junkies this month!

I stamped the image on watercolor paper and watercolored it. For the background and sun, I masked off of the sun and masked the image, too to create the sky. Curry, black and white card stock used. I split the sentiment up so that I could get it to fit on the card front. I'd tell you what the embossing folder was that I used...but I don't know it....I wish the name would be on the folders! I write the name on them now, but this particular one didn't have a name on it..it's old.

Lovely Bouquet

 

This beautiful bouquet  is called Delicate Bouquet, and I colored it Copic markers.  I used blending brushes to  add color to the background. The purple sheet was dry embossed with a 3D embossing folder.
