Passport to Travel

I love to travel! My passport expires this year, and I am currently in the process of renewing it...not a fast process! In any case, I created this card using the A Passport stamp, along with two stencils from ACLD: Cloud Edger Stencil and the Air Jaunt Stencil.

Magician's Hat Birthday Shaker Card

 Hello Crafters -

If you like shaker cards this will be right up your alley. Quick and simple card to make and you can't go wrong with a little bit of sass in the sentiment. I knew I wanted my color palette to be bright. I used a die to cut out a rectangle. I selected Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers and Villainous Potion Distressed Oxides as my colors of choice. I ink blended one color into the other to create my background.

I centered the Magician's Hat stamp set from the July release along with the Grand Greetings stamp and stamped in black ink. I liked how we didn't know what was going to come out of her mouth and in this case it was Happy Birthday!
I used a circle die to cut out a window and added acetate behind it. The image was colored using Spectrum Noir Tri Blend Markers. I added 3-D foam tape around the circle, input Iridescent sequins into the back of the card and adhered it to an A2 card base. I love how this interactive card turned out!

Check out the July release stamps HERE. I hope you were inspired. Thank you for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

Blooming Beauty

Deb here with another card for you . . The July Release from Technique Junkies has such a variety of amazing stamps that it's hard to choose which design to post first . I don't have many floral stamps ( I know, can you believe that ?!?! ) so I decided to work with Blooming Beauty . It's a gorgeous, detailed stamp that can be used for many occasions. I decided to do a bit of paper-piecing on this card . It's an easy image to fussy-cut. There are also multiple layers of petals and leaves to work with and color.

  • I stamped the Blooming Beauty image on white cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink .
  • It was also stamped on a piece of blue-patterned paper.
  • The central floral image was fussy-cut from the blue paper.
  • I used a stitched edge rectangle die to cut out the floral image on the white cardstock.
  • I colored the white floral image with COPICS and added highlights to the blue floral image .
  • On a light green card base, I adhered a piece of geometric-design patterned paper.
  • The blue floral image was adhered over the white cardstock.
  • I added golden-yellow rhinestones on the stamped image .
  • The stitched rectangle was popped up on the card base with foam tabs.
  • A Tim Holtz Small Talk sentiment was placed at the bottom right on the patterned paper.
I'm already thinking of different color palettes for this card .. I'm sure I'll be using it again and again .. Are you a floral stamp person  ?? I'd love to see what you could do with this stamp .. I hope you'll take a moment and look at all the fabulous stamps available from Technique Junkies . Let's take a look at the new Concrete Texture Background stamp

  Hello Crafty Friends,

Do you ever look at a background stamp and ask yourself "What could I possibly use that for?" I bet some of you do.  If you've been making cards a long time or feel like you're in a rut, maybe these ideas will help get you into an exploratory mood.

Lately I've gotten a little tired of plain backgrounds so now I'm doing more experimenting.
The way I used this stamp on the cards below is subtle (to me anyway) yet gives the cards a more artful looking appearance. A little more pizzazz :)

On the three cards shown here I will explain how I used the  newly released concrete texture 3 different ways.

  • 1 - The background on Rum Is Gone card I heat embossed it in gold.
  • The very first thing I did was stamp the concrete texture stamp using a clear embossing pad, sprinkled it with gold embossing powder, then heat set.
  • 2 - On the Ending Racism design I put the concrete texture stamp on a large acrylic block and randomly stamped in gray before I did anything else to the card. I also stamped it on the red matte.
  • 3 - On the last card (I used a saying from the Inside Out Karma set just released)
  • I first added a little pink ink color randomly to the card using a brush so I could control how much ink was applied.
  • Next I gave it a spritz of water then dabbed with a dry paper towel.
  • I then stamped the coffee girl and saying.
  • Last - I used a neutral color (light brown, but it looks gold in this picture) and stamped around the girl and sentiment.
* You can make a mask to cover the girl and sentiment before stamping the concrete texture stamp around them or simply use a piece of a sticky note to cover them so you can stamp around.

I hope you find these technique tips helpful. Let me know if you give them a try. I'd love to see what you do with the new concrete texture background stamp.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Magician Hat

Hello Junkies!

I hope you are ready for a good chuckle.  This stamp set is hilarious.   I cut the Magician stamp into three pieces so I could use them separately.   I think this really gives you more options to maximize your creative powers.

I used the refracted card design to put all the focus on our girl.  I used the star swoop to break up the large spaces.  I hope this inspires you to create today.

Happy Stamping,
Chris
