Using Three Techniques by Judy Jackson

Have you ever looked at a stamp and immediately thought of a technique from a past Technique Junkie newsletter? That happens to me more often these days, but never in the same way it happened on Thursday of this past week. I had some things to return to a craft store -- you know you buy something and only get home to discover you already own it? I am sure that never happens to anyone else, right? :)

While I was there I saw all these stamps that were reduced below 50% off the regular price and of course like any bargain hunter, I had to look. I saw this stamp from Inkadinkadoo and thought -- the Pyramid technique from June 2009 would be perfect for this stamp! Then I saw the saying and thought -- this will go with this stamp and other bird stamps I own. I ending buying several discounted stamps.

However, I wanted to "morph" the Pyramid technique with the Burnished Background from October 2009 because I wanted to emboss the stamped image in black. So the image was stamped with Black Versafine ink and then clear embossed. Then I burnished the ink colors to create the colored background for the Pyramid technique. I used Certainly Celery, Rich Razzleberry, Dusty Durango, and Crushed Curry inks to do the burnishing.

Then I had to decide on how to place the central on the card front -- and the Z-fold technique (from August 2007) popped into my mind. So this card came together as I was working. That often happens to me. I rarely have the "vision" of the finished card in my mind when i sit down to create. Sometimes I do , but not often. Then i needed soemthing to balance the empty space at the bottom and used this saying stamp -- also from Inkadinkadoo. To finish it off, I spritzed a little gold Smooch spray over the top. I think it is a fun card and pretty easy to create!

Spritzed Stone by Ann

Hi, Ladies.....Ann Clack here!  This card features the Spritzed Stone technique from the December 09 issue.  There are several ways you can do this technique......I chose the lighter spritzing method so that mine looked more mottled.  This was a super quick background and I made a number of them to have for later.  The image is from Dustin Pike and is colored with copics.  Hope you enjoy!!

Faux Felt + Sanded Core'dinations by Shelly

Happy Friday everyone! Today's card combines two different techniques - Sanded Core'dinations from the current issue, and Faux Felt from the Feb/Mar '09 issue. I've used a fantastic image from Twisted Papers that I think is perfect for a sweet Mother's Day card. It's all tied up with a piece of vintage bias tape that I stamped with a sentiment by EK Success. I accented the card with a strip of text that I'd punched some flowers out of - I thought it made a really different and interesting embellishment!

Try That Technique: Graffitti

Hi, it's Beth here with another technique that Diana Enns and I put to a challenge. It is Graffitti from the December 2004 issue.

This is a fabulous technique if you're looking for something unique and quick. Gotta love that!

Double Embossed Metal

It's Evelyn here....trying out the Double Embossed Metal from the Feb/March newsletter.  I ordered four colors of metal after I saw the newsletter; this card uses Plum.  The first embossing was with the Swiss Dots folder, and the second was with SU's Rose folder.   Although I did color some with a purple Sharpie, it doesn't show up very well.  I backed the metal piece with specialty dark purple cardstock from Club Scrap and accented it with some soft purple pearls. Vellum Floral and Greens

Happy Saturday from Kathie McGuire!! My project today features one of my favorite watercolor techniques, "Watercolor Resist". Although the technique is just a small element on this card, I believe it's the element that give my card just the right touch of color and flair!

So let's see if you can find the technique (where's Waldo?)! I'm sure it's easy to spot on the center leaf in the upper left corner of the card!

This project was fun because a friend and I challenged each other to create a card strictly from our scrap boxes. You know the box that holds all those little parts and pieces of images, technique backgrounds, and other card making items? Mine is overflowing!! The main "rule" was that the card had to be made up of ONLY things in the scrap box. The base cardstock was the only exception! Green is one of my least favorite colors so I thought this card was going to be a tough one for me. Ironically, it came together in an instant and when I came across the Watercolor Resist leaf, I knew I could pull it all together.

So now I challenge YOU to dig through all of your boxes and showcase some of those TJ techniques that are hiding there like buried treasure.

Alcohol Smoosh from Judy Jackson

Have you ever felt that life was speeding by faster than you could keep up? That is how I have felt the past couple of weeks! Every time I thought I was caught up and could say, "Whew! I can relax a bit now." something else for me to do was just around the corner. I was "supposed" to post this on Monday and now it is Friday.

This technique is called Alcohol Smoosh from CD7. The stamps used for the background are from Artistic Outpost. The stamp on the tag is also Artistic Outpost -- and all of these stamps are from the set Birds of a Feather. I bought it this winter at a stamp convention in Florida -- it was unmounted and no identifying info on the back. I forgot which booth I bought it from. Sorry! I dusted the bird and the thistle with Perfect Pearls but the delightful shimmer doesn't show up. I also used a swirl stamp from Stampers Anonymous.
