Put On The Hat

Happy Sunday!  Lynda Joy here, with some halloween fun.

I created an A2 card from lime green card stock, and brushed some black ink through a web stencil from my stock.  I varied the pressure so it was more intense near the center of the web and faded out lighter at the edges.

I stamped the Put On The Hat image onto orange card stock, then onto purple card stock.  I layered the orange one onto a panel of purple, and added it to the web-covered card front.

I black-embossed the purple one, and fussy-cut it, adding it to the one on the card front with foam tape to give it extra dimension and texture.

I did a little doodling on the witch hat, which I had stamped in lime green.

That's it!  Easy-peasy halloween card.  It's supposed to be 85 degrees here today, so it's difficult to think about fall holidays.  But, fall is in the air here in upstate NY.  Color is beginning to show up in the trees, and the geese are honking their way south to warmer climes.  I'm ready for fall, and all the glorious gifts it brings.

Thanks for reading my post.  You can see my other cards from the Technique Junkies September release HERE.
As I write this, I have two almost finished winter (gasp!) cards for the October 1st release on my desk.  We can't wait to share the fun new stamps, and hope to see you here for the excitement.

To create this card I started with a side folding white card base and a kraft panel. I masked off a section of the panel for the greeting. I stamped the background stamp with embossing ink and embossed it using rose gold powder. I used colored pencils to color the image.

TJ Inkspirations: Inked and Sprayed Skeleton Leaf

I love fall. The weather has just started to turn slightly cooler here in Connecticut and it won't be long before Autumn shows all of her gorgeous colors.  Today's video celebrates the change of season and reminds us to slow down to enjoy things all at the same time.

Today we are Inking and Spraying a Skeleton Leaf Stencil with amazing results. It truly is a 5 minute card, and it has a fabulous WOW factor!

This card is one of the Friday Night Make and Takes that we have been doing our tradeshows this month. It certainly is a favorite for many of our stamping friends.

Here is the finished piece from the video:

Happy HOWLoween!!!

You know how sometimes a stamp just attracts all your attention? Well, this Happy Howloween stamp is that stamp for me this month. Normally, I'm not a big Halloween card kinda girl (don't hate!), but I AM a big doggy-lovin' girl. And this stamp is just so darn cute, it turns me into a Halloween card lover.  Check it out!

Are those pooch ghosts not the cutest? And I had so much fun making this card. I was inspired by some backgrounds I had seen recently and as I started looking through my embossing powders, I found one that was absolutely perfect for this stamp. It was a glittery-black. Just look at how that  background makes these adorable doggies pop!

I will admit this card took a little time. But it was a labor of love! I began by embossing in black and coloring in this adorable stamped image with Spectrum Noir markers. I fussy-cut the top portion of the panel and left the bottom part straight, since it would be hidden behind a frame. Using a black marker, I ran it around the edge of the trimmed image so no white edges would show on the dark background. I then added dimensional foam tape to the back and set the piece aside while I worked on the rest of the card.

For the background, I die cut four of the same frame out of black CS. On one of the frames, I removed the inner portion. This one will serve as the top frame for the image. The remaining three frames were stacked and glued together to give it some dimension and sturdiness.  Using my Versamark ink pad, I pounced the entire background of the stacked piece and embossed it using the glitter/black powder.  An easy alternative to embossing powder would be coloring the background using the Urban Graphite Nuvo Glitter Marker. (I used it to draw a frame around the sentiment layer.) I repeated the embossing process for the top frame and added foam tape to the top 2/3 of the frame (since the bottom portion will be attached directly to the image which was already popped up).

I cut out a moon from goldenrod CS and colored over it with the gold Nuvo Glitter Marker from the Moroccan Sunset set and added that to the background. I then attached the doggy image to that and then placed the open frame on top.  Look at the dimension on this card!

For the sentiment, I stamped it on white CS and trimmed it down, then used the Urban Graphite marker to create a frame. This was then attached to the piece using glue and foam tape. The completed piece was then attached to a black A2 card base.

I love how the project turned out and I'm so happy to share it with you!

Leaves Turn

Hello crafty friends, Kia back with you this week to share this beautiful stamp called Modern Foliage. When I was thinking about my card the only plan was it was going to be in blue. I did not think about the other colour until I was making it.

In my mini Misti, I first stamped the background panel, which I had die cut with my stitched rectangle die, using VersaFine Clair Ink in Paradise. My original plan as to use a blue card base, but that was changed as I went to a white card base.
Using my Life Changing Brushes I went around the edges of the panel again using the Paradise Ink. I then die cut the smaller middle piece and stencilled using A Colorful Life Designs Scribbled Lines Stencil, then attached it to the card panel.

For the top piece I again stamped a smaller die cut panel and proceeded to stamp it with the foliage stamp. I then coloured the piece using my Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens.

The base colour is Lemon Zest, then Mango Mimosa and finally Spiced Ginger. I started out colouring the small background pieces in the Lemon Zest but ended up changing that twice and finally settled on Indigo Batik.
Once complete I attached fun foam to the back of the yellow panel using Scorpal tape before attaching to the card.

I stamped the sentiment called Leaves Turn using the Paradise Ink and die cut it to fit across the yellow panel.

I finished my card with a bit of Midas Touch Shimmering Pen on the 3 leaves just above the sentiment to add a bit of sparkle.

I did a video for this card which follows.
