Zendoodle Giraffe

Happy Sunday!  I'm back again today with a card from the Technique Junkies April release.  If you have not seen the release celebration, be sure to check it out HERE.   All of the stamps from the release can be found HERE, on the Technique Junkies website.

I had so much fun coloring this stamp and creating my card today.

How fun is this stamp!!!  It is called Zendoodle Giraffe.
I also used an older stamp, Stand Tall (verse on front and image inside).

I inked the Zendoodle Giraffe stamp onto Strathmore vellum bristol, with VersaFine Claire nocturne ink.  When dry, I colored this awesome gal with Arteza Fineliner pens.  I originally tried markers, brush markers, even colored pencil.  But the lines are very teeny tiny, and I wanted to get as much detail as I could in my coloring, and they were just too big.  That's when I pulled out these amazing Fineliner pens.  The tips are extra fine, like the .04 micron pens!

Once colored, I toyed with different options for the card design.  I decided I wanted the giraffe recessed in a window.  I used a die to create a square opening in a black card stock panel.  I added the black panel to the stamped panel with foam tape for dimension, then added this to a muted amber card stock, then onto a white card.

For the verse, I used the Stand Tall stamp.  I drew the stems and leaves in Zendoodle fashion to mimic the ones on the image, and colored them with the same pens.  I mounted this panel to some of the amber card stock, then onto the card above the window.

I drew some black dots with my micron pen for the finishing touch.

And for the inside, and my ooooops incident......

Ooooops because, as I was stamping the image, I caught just a little line from the edge of the rubber.  I thought about re-stamping and creating a liner to cover it up, but then took out my water brush and scribbled on some wild honey distress ink around the image, hoping I could work out the line.  It wasn't budging.  So, I went for it and took a small stamp, and touched the edge of it into the ink pad, then tapped it on the image.  I repeated across and up and down to create a sort of pattern.  Voila!  My oooops turned into a background idea that I may even use again!  Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

So...why did I go on about this?  Well, I thought it might give someone else an idea for if this happens to them.  And, yes, it happens, even to seasoned stampers.  You're welcome!

I hope you like my card, and have been inspired to try this fabulous giraffe gal, or some of the other amazing stamps from this April release.  Don't forget, all of the new release stamps are 15% off for one more day, until April 8th!

AND.... use my code, TJ10Lynda, for an EXTRA 10% off!  That's 25% off these release stamps!!
Thank you for visiting and reading my rambling.

How about you, has this ever happened to you?  How did you fix it, or did you start again?

Blessings,
