The June Challenge is over, and all of the artwork was amazing!

I am pleased to announce the week 3 Summer Challenge winner! This Week, Shirley Hotop has won a $30 gift certificate to the Technique Junkies Store!

I am also excited to announce the Grand Prize winner...the winner of ALL of the July 2020 new stamp release. The winner is...
Tami Carlson French!
All 14 of the July stamps will be sent to Tami as her prize.

All of the artwork submitted for the challenge has been compiled in the video below...so many beautiful pieces!

Please note, as I was making this video my program crashed, and while I think I recovered all of the artwork, if yours is missing it is only because of the video crash, which did NOT affect contest results. If yours is missing, please accept my apologies!

Also, before I share the video, tomorrow is release day and we will be sharing and celebrating the release of the 14 new stamps being released in July.  Bear with me and the multiple emails this week!

Hanging with my Gnomies

Hey there!  Today I'm hanging with my Gnomies.  What are you up too?

I love love love gnomes, but so does half of the world.  This Hanging with my Gnomies stamp set comes with three gnomes, which I masked to make a crowd, or is it a flock, or hurd of gnomes?

For my sentiment, I coloured each letter of "gnomies" with a Tombow marker, huffed, and stamped out.

Don't forget to come back tomorrow for our New Release.  Once again, there's something for everyone.

Real Brush Markers Watercolor With Lilac Stamp

Hello, Lynda Joy here, with some watercolor inspiration with real brush markers and the Technique Junkies Lilacs stamp.
Lilacs JT017
Difficult Time SDX156
With Sympathy Set of 5  SS049

I used my Misti to stamp the Lilacs  onto watercolor paper with distress inks.  I used Arteza real brush markers to watercolor the image, and a water brush to create the loose watercolor background.

I white embossed the Thinking of You verse onto card stock, added some fiber, and added it to the panel, then layered it onto a card front.

On the inside, I stamped portions of the lilac with distress ink, and added the sympathy verse from the With Sympathy Set of 5 set.

Don't forget to use my code, TJ10Lynda, for 10% off your order, if you are doing any shopping at the Technique
Junkies store.

AND, all summer and beach related stamps are 20% OFF with the code Summer2020.  You have until tomorrow, June 29, to enter a card in the Summer Artwork Challenge.  The theme is anything summer!  The prize is a generous $30 gift certificate to the TJ store!!!  And a grand prize of the entire June release stamps!  Hope to see you at the challenge!

Coral Seaturtle

Hello everyone!
It's Ceal, here to share with you today. It's officially summer so I thought I would share a summer card with you using one of the June release stamps, Coral Seaturtle.  You can save 10% on this stamp and your entire order by using my code TJ10

To create my card I started with a top folding white card base I stamped the turtle image, colored it using Copic markers and masked it off to create a background that looks like water ripples, I did that by using a stencil and the blending brushes.

Going to be Fine

Hi there!

Today, I'm sharing a beautiful card using three of the June release stamps, 'Coral Sea Turtle', 'Inside Out: Silence is Golden', and 'Bubble Flow'.  It was fun using a sentiment from a humorous set on a serious card!

The image was stamped onto the focal panel, and colored with copic markers. A 'mask' was stamped and fussy cut out of masking paper. The focal image was masked off, and 'Bubble Flow' was stamped over the panel. A white gel pen, some designer papers, and a couple of burlap scraps finished this beautiful card off nicely!

I am SO enjoying this June release. Can't imagine what July will hold!!!

Don't forget!!! You can always save 10% on any order by entering TJ10Patti at checkout.

This was so easy to create! Hope you will give it a try!

Now, be sure to head over to the Technique Junkies store and check out the incredible new stamps this month!  You will use them over and over!!!

Thanks for stopping by,

Patti J.

Thanks for Your Service

I have a different kind of thank you card to share today. This one has a very patriotic flare which would work great for military, but would also work well for first responders and healthcare workers.

I used a few fun products to create this sparkly gem. You can see from the close-up how this card shines!

Here is what I used to make the card, along with the links:

A COLORFUL LIFE: STARS STENCIL (6X6)
and PIXIE SPRAY

BRAVE HEARTS
I also used Thermoweb Transfer Gel Duo, Diamond Chips Transfer Foil, and Nuvo Glitter Markers.

For the background, I used a black piece of cardstock. I applied Pixie Spray to the back side of the stencil and placed it on top of the cardstock. Using a spatula, I applied the Transfer Gel through the stencil. I removed the stencil and washed it quickly so the gel didn't dry on it. I let it dry while I worked on the other parts of the card.

I stamped the image from Brave Hearts (It is one stamp, but I did a little surgery and cut the words apart from the image for more versatility) using Versamark. I added red and blue embossing powder and heat set the image. I then added a little twinkle by coloring over parts of the image with Nuvo Glitter Markers.

I stamped the sentiment, heat embossed it in black, and trimmed out a banner shape.

After the gel had dried on the black cardstock, I added a piece of foil to it and ran it through my laminating machine. The beauty about this gel is that it works with a die cutting machine just as well. So you can use either a laminator or die cutting machine to adhere the foil to the gel. I removed the foil (save that piece because it can be used again with the unused spaces...I'll tell you how). I trimmed down the piece, attached it to the A2 card base, and added the stamped/embossed images with foam tape. Done!!!

Now that little piece of foil left over can be used a couple of ways. You can laser print a black square, place the foil over it and laminate it, which will give you the reverse image. You can use the transfer gel and add foil to spots. Or you could gel a square area and apply the foil to get the reverse image. Waste not, want not!

I hope you were a little inspired by my project today. I also hope you have been playing along with the card challenge here at Technique Junkies. Grand prize is a set of the whole July release of stamps!

Also, don't forget you can save 10% on all these products by entering the code below (the code NEVER expires so keep it handy!)
Til next time,
Keepin' it inky!

A Summer of Sharks and "Not's"

And somehow, once again, another month begins to come to a close.

Another month in which I've managed to NOT do so many things.

There's the furniture I haven not pulled from the wall to clean behind. Choosing, once again, to let nature's critters clean up the crumbs left behind all of it until the day I thank them by inviting Mr. Exterminator to the party.

There's the matter of the y-chromosomes, who are still residing in the utmost regions of my house, whom I have not evicted due to their lame excuses of being "underage".

And let's not forget the Marital Unit, who I have not sued for abandonment and subsequently divorced, only because I can't find him on the golf course.

Lastly, as we're coming to an end of another summer month, I have not touched even one toe to the ocean.

It's this last one I actually consider a win.

I know, I know...I hear it every year. My little sun bunny friends are the first to poo-poo my fears.

"Do you know how rare it is to be attacked by a shark while swimming at the beach?" my slim, tanned and very buxom friend Eva said, while trying on a tiny bikini she was considering as we shopped for summer wear.

"Not rare enough that you couldn't say it doesn't happen." I retorted, silently repeating to myself that I did not hate her for having two children and still being able to pull off "twenty-something" while in her 40's.

"Oh, come on." she said. "It's incredibly rare! Name the last time someone was attacked by a shark. Especially here in North Carolina."

"Which of the 36 attacks since 2010 do you want to know about?" I said. "Or is it enough to know that our state ranks 5th in the nation in shark attacks?"

She paled. "Oh, God. Are you serious?"

"I would never make something like that up." I said.

She looked sadly at the bikini she'd just tried on and handed to the saleswoman. "Well, I guess I'll just lay out on the beach and tan this year. By the way, do you have this in a size 4?"

Gritting my teeth, I told myself I did not want my sweet friend to test any "swimming in the ocean shark" statistics.

As bad as friends could be, it was nothing compared to my mother's reaction. We were settling in for a week's vacation at Myrtle Beach and had nested on the sand to read and sunbathe.

As the boys tore past, running to the water, I stopped them at the edge with a shrill whistle.
"Remember," I called to them. "Ankle deep ONLY! What is it we always say about the beach?"

The y-chromosomes chanted in unison. "In to your knees, the sharks you will tease. Up to your bum and you become chum."

Rolling her eyes, my mother said, "What in the world has gotten into you? I thought you loved the ocean! I remember you swimming in it all the time when you were a kid. What changed?"

"You took me to see Jaws at the theater when I was seven." I said.

"Couldn't have been." she scoffed. "That must've been your father. He was always doing silly things like that when he'd had a few drinks. Remember the time he he took you and your brother to the Drive In, then promptly fell asleep in the front seat? Not knowing the movies were scary ones?"

"Yes, mother. I remember it distinctly. It was a double feature. The movies were Coma and The Omen"."

"That's right!" she clapped her hands enthusiastically. "You have such a good memory! Why on earth did he take the two of you to something like that, I wonder?"

"Because he'd knocked back a case of beer with friends and misread "Coma" as "Comma" and thought it was an educational film. And "The Omen" was, he said, a film about the Bible." I said, drily.

"Only your Dad!" she laughed.

At any rate, as yet another summer comes to a close, I've successfully navigated another summer of "not's".

I have not allowed any surgery to take place unless the Marital Unit has conducted an investigation into the character of the Anesthetist and checked to see the statistics of patients who've had surgery and somehow mysteriously vanished.

I have not ever neglected to shave each y-chromosomes head at one point to check for any numbers or signs that might be hidden there. It certainly didn't help that the last one was born on 6/6/06, but that was my fault for insisting on induction at the earliest possible moment.

But don't worry...I still have my eye on that one.

Last but not least, I have not and will not ever, in any lifetime, be eaten by a shark.

And in the history of my "not's", I'll consider this one a win.

My first is Coral Seaturtle.

I stamped and embossed the image in white, Using masking fluid, I made "spots" on the back of the turtle. After watercoloring him a dark brown, I removed the masking and did a quick wash of the dark color I'd already painted. I really LOVE how this effect came out. And it was totally accidental. Wait...I mean, I just knew that would happen. Because I'm experienced, like that.

Ahem.

My second card was one of those that assembled itself much better in my head than I was able to pull off for you. Using the Inside/Out set, my intention was to make a wall with the mirror showing the outside sentiment "Mirror Mirror". I stamped it with Staz-On, then tried to use little frames with pictures of stern looking people to look like a wall.

Then, I used the Inside sentiment (which we won't point out to anyone, specifically my parental unit...will we?) and the TJ stamp set Crabby I finished it off with the crab and sentiment.

ALL of these sets-and everything else you might want-is 10% off if you use my discount code TJ10CARMEN

Thanks for stopping by...and keep on stamping!

It's MUCH safer than swimming in the ocean
