Walnut Ink Resist

Hi!  It's Evelyn here with a technique from April/May 2008.  I used Lilac Walnut Ink spray with a butterfly image from Penny Black and a sentiment from River City Rubber Works.

Sanded Core'dination by Judy Jackson

This is a card that the different aspects of the finished product evolved as I went along. That is what happens to me most often when I stamp. I rarely can see the finished prodecut in my mind first -- however, it does happen from time to time, but not this time!

First I chose the paper to emboss and then sand. Then I chose the embossing folder. Now I wanted flowers that would match or blend with the type of flowers on the embossing folder. Done -- now how shall I treat the flowers as just plain stamping didn't appeal to me -- ahh I will use the Kiss With a Twist technique. Cool! It gave the flowers a very soft look. Stamps are from Stampin' Up and Close to My Heart -- both are retired sets.

Add some layers, distress some edges but not all, add some sponging, add some home made glimmer spray, add some ribbon, add a saying on a tag for the final embellishment -- and I am done!

Try That Technique Challenge Warhol 2 by Judy Jackson

Another fun challenge to do! This was such a fun technique to go back and revisit and to complete with this vintage type stamp from Stampin' Up. All of the Warhol techniques are from the February 2005 Technique Junkie newsletter. I layered each piece with an opposite color and then again with black. I had these cute little black button brads that I thought worked quite well with this image.

What don't you take some time today and revisit this technique -- or another technique from an older newsletter and then share your creation with all of us through the Technique Junkie yahoo group? The newer techniques are great -- but sometimes it is just plain fun to revisit a technique you haven't used in a while or one you have never used!

Ah...2003. Such a good year. And this technique -- it was so popular when I first published it! I remember when I first thought of doing this one (yes, I do, even 7 years later). Try That Technique Challenge -- Go Retro by Judy Jackson

Pat Huntoon has challenged the Design Team to use techniques from past issues of the Technique Junkie newsletters. This technique comes from the June 2003 newsletter. I wasn't even a member of the Technique Junkie Newsletter back then. However, I discovered the Technique Junkie newsletter in August of 2003 -- and I have never been sorry! What a wonderful resource this newsletter is for stampers and scrapbookers!

So it was really fun to look back and see how this technique challenged me. I was really pleased to with the ease of the technique and I love how the technique forced me to use stamps that haven't seen the light of day for some time. I am sure I will use this technique again.
