Antique Glimmers and Paint! by Judy Jackson

There are lots of techniques from the Technique Junkie newsletter that I love, but Antique Glimmers (December 2009 to January 2010) is a true fave! I use this technique a lot. It is so easy and gives such a Wow impact to a card! Switch out the ink colors and use different glimmer mists and the entire card will look very different.

The Design Team members were asked if we could participate in a challenge for the Frosted Design Blog - http://frosteddesigns.blogspot.com/ - this Saturday. The Technique Junkie newsletter is sponsoring them.

The challenge is use paint on my creation. I used my Snow Cap Adirondack Paint dabber in three ways on this tag. I used the sponge dabber top to brush a bit of white paint along the edge of the tag. I used the dabber top to cover the metal embellishment with the white paint -- pushing the paint into the letters and numbers. I let that dry just for a few minutes and then used a towel to wipe off most of the paint on the surface. That leaves paint in the letters and numbers so they are more easily seen. Then I used the dabber top to put paint on the snowflake stamp -- which was an easy way to add white snowflakes on the background -- and it was the last thing I did.

I created the main background using the Antique Glimmers technique - using two shades of purple Distress Inks and Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I used homemade glimmer spray with water and a tiny bit of Perfect Pearls.

When that was dry I then inked the flourish stamp from Stampers Anonymous with gold metallic Stazon -- such a bright gold! -- and stamped the flourish over the Antique Glimmer background. I stamped the little girl silhouette stamp on vanilla card stock and punched her out. She is a retired Stampin' Up! image. A little sponged Vintage Photo ink gives some dimension I think. A few punched background layers finished off this focal image.

I added the lace ribbon and tied it in a knot. A few dimensionals to raise up the focal image over the lace gives the focal image the imortance it needs on this tag.

A few embellishments of a word paper tag layered (and some edging with gold Stazon) is used to create interest. Ribbons and lace were threaded through the top of the tag. They were tied together with gold cording. I used another piece of gold cording to tie on the metal circle tag. I added a row of sticky back half-pearls at the bottom of the tag.

Ta da! I am done. Tags are fun to make and can be used in your scrapbooks or added to a card front. What can you create using paint today?

Pencil Highlights by Donna

Hi, Donna here!  I contribute to this blog on the second and fourth Friday of each month, and since this is the second Friday in January, here's my card.  The technique I chose to feature is called Pencil Highlights and it was published in the Sept./Oct. 2010 issue of the newsletter.  I used the technique on the background panel and the stamp I used is from Rubber Stampede.   The rose, which I embossed with Ranger Tea Dye Distress Embossing Powder, is from the DoodleFactory Backlit Blooms collection from Starving Artistamps.

For the background paper I used some leftover paper I made for the

Salty Glimmers tutorial. I love how the paper

shines and glimmers. It is an easy technique,

Just take some salt and your glimmer mist bottles.

For this one I used  "Hollyberry",

but you can also use other sprays like smooch spritz.

It is the salt that makes the difference.

For the hearts I used Michael Strong's mini heart stamp

and the sentiment is by Club Scrap

I added some gemstones on the heart with glossy accent.

Inside the "gift"-card, you can add a voucher or

a sweet lovenote.

My Sunshine

Greetings, Friends! Jane Bosi, here, sharing a few pieces of art. I was excited and delighted with the results this week when I FINALLY tried the Wet Stencil technique. As you may remember, it was featured last Thursday as the "Try That" technique. I'm always up for some helpful prompting :) and was glad for the nudge to try something new (you can find the Wet Stencil details in the 4/09 edition)! My first card share today is that project and features stamps from smARTworks!

In the same vein, I decided to give a go to a technique I've looked at many times, but never tried. Featuring stamps from IBrake For Stamps and Amuse, my second card uses the August 2009 technique, Punched Windows.

If you haven't, I really urge you to get out those newsletters--I keep mine in a binder and page protectors---and try something new!

Sea Shell Deconstructed Collage by Judy Jackson

This was a fun card to make using the Deconstructed Collage technique. There are a lot of element to this particular collage stamp to choose from. This sea shell collage stamp is made by Impression Obsession.

And thinking about the beach and sea shells in the winter cold of January is a bit "warming!" As I hear the cold wind blow outside, I know I would prefer to be at the beach -- wouldn't you?

Ann Clack's Valentine

Here is a cutie for you!  I made three of these for my grandchildren.  The image is from Sweet and Sassy stamps......I just love this little mouse!  The technique is cuttlebug highlights. 

I did something brand new to me too!..........I cut the hearts behind the mouse with my brand new Cricut and the SCAL2 program.  I created the heart myself!  The scallops really came out a lot smaller than I imagined....a learning lesson for sure!  The looped red border is also a freebie from SVGcuts.com.
