Time to Nest

 

Hi, it's Gini, and I'm excited to share my first blog post with you today on the Technique Junkies blog!  I love trying new techniques and of course, adore beautiful stamps - so this is the perfect place for me.

I used two different stamps for my background - Burlap Flowers and Fat Smudged Lines.  I had fun with some embossing techniques, including a variation of the Outlined Resist Tutorial from the Bodacious Background Stamps CD.  

My focal image, Nesting Bird, was colored with Spectrum Aqua markers.  I then cut the image and used foam adhesive to apply it to the card.

The sentiment is from the very fun Mae West Sentiments (from the Palettini Collection).

Spring is Here!

 

Hellooooo!  I'm Robin Redd (a.k.a. RockinReddRobin!)  

This is my introductory blog post.  I'm having so much fun with my new Technique Junkie stamps.  

I hope you enjoy what I have to share in the upcoming months.

 

I didn't have the Spellbinders die that was the size bigger that frames this die, so I took a coordinating Tombow marker and colored in a frame right onto the die.

 

{Patiently Waiting}

I used this "Patiently Waiting" stamp as my focal point on the die-cut piece.

  

{The Best Gift)

I used the Pick and Omit technique with this, "The Best Gift" stamp.

 

I colored only the bird and the wire with Tombow Markers, omitting the words on this stamp.

Butterfly Canvas

{jane bosi}  Happy Thursday, Junkies!!  Today, I am sharing a canvas I created using some goodies from Technique Junkies!

I had purchased a package of these sweet little 4 x 4 canvases a while ago.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them, until I realized that they are perfectly sized for use with the beautiful Palettini background images!  I've chosen the Vintage Botanicals Collage for mine, but am a little obsessed with making a set and also using Vintage Bicycle Collage, Vintage Balloons Collage and Vintage Daisy Collage or Vintage Ship Collage!  Wouldn't that be a sweet wall collection?

I always use a combination of acrylic paint and gellatos to add color and shading on my canvas work.  For this one, I've also added a dusting of glitter glue to several areas.  The butterfly is colored and glittered on the first layer. I also added a vellum butterfly over the top to simulate the fluttery beauty of these amazing creatures!

The funky little kitty above, Meow Chicka (SD637)  is one of my personal favorite cats! Every time I look at it the Meow Chicka Meow Meow runs through my head. I couldn't help myself, either, I put it on another fun background called Abstract Waves (S365).  Add a little fringe at the bottom, and viola! Funky kitty fun.

Jenny's Coat

Hello, it's Beth Norman here with today's card, using the Jenny's Coat technique.  All stamps are from the Technique Junkies Stamp line.  Don't you just love the cool flourish? It's called Black and White Swirls.(click on the name to be taken to the stamp). It also uses Butterfly Quotes and Butterfly 2.  I thought it would be perfect for this technique as I wanted a lot of Designer Paper to show through.  My DP is from Stampin' Up!

You can find Jenny's Coat technique on the Designer Paper Perfection CD, one of my favourite CD's.  I don't know about you, but I consider myself to be a paper piggy because I'm a sucker for paper of any kind.

I also used the Whisped Frames technique on my sentiment; a much-used technique that I find myself using over and over again. 

Best Gift Card by Jerri Jones

Jerri here to share a card I created using one of the April release stamps called BEST GIFT (#SD613).

I do believe that this sentiment is so true.  Sometimes just being there, is the best gift you can give a friend in need.  I wanted something subtle for this card and I think I achieved it.  I LOVE the way this turned out.

Here's how I made the card:  

The background was created with Tim Holtz Distress Stains in Dusty Concord; Spiced Marmalade; Faded Jeans; Barn Door; Brushed Pewter.  The technique used is called the Stained Resist Tutorial and can be found on the Artistic Effects CD.  The stamp used for the background is called PANSY (#SD295).  Once dry, I cut the paper into 3 panels which were then spaced apart and placed on the card front.

The Stamp for the front,  BEST GIFT (#SD613), was stamped in black on white card stock. I used a Spellbinders die to cut and emboss the sentiment. Pop Dots were used to attach it to the card. I finished off the card by putting 3 pearls in the bottom corner to balance out the card.

Be Inspired

I'm still riding the wave of inspiration from the Welcome Hop yesterday!!  We have such a great team of talented artists.....if'n I do say so, m'self!  LOL!!

Today, I have two additional projects to share.  Both showcase new releases from Technique Junkies.  The first, is shown above.  For my background, I used the Alcohol Stencil technique from the Sensational Stencil CD.  My muted earthy colors are the perfect backdrop for Bird and Butterflies.  Using Stazon ink, I stamped the image on vellum and colored it on the opposite side.  I have such a conflict when it comes to creating background pieces!  I never want to cover them up!

I'm partial to giraffe images and I just love this new one! Giraffes and a great message---Stand Tall couldn't be more perfect!  For this background, I use a technique from the Simple and Easy Inking Techniques Remix CD.  This is a great CD that is perfect for any level of stamper!  The technique used here is called It Takes Two.  My two are Lipstick Kisses  and  Burlap.  For embellishments, I continued the earthy feel with a piece of canvas, twine and some wooden buttons.
