For the Book Lovers in Your Life

Hello Fellow Junkies,
Karen McAlpine here today to share a fun project perfect for all the book lovers in your life.  The sets are perfect for me as there are quite a few among my friends and family and of course, I am one too.  On my project, I used two of the new January Releases:
Books Background and Bookworms Sentiment Set

To make this project:
  • Make a card from Olive CS
  • Punch small holes along the edge
  • Thread large tapestry needle with narrow ribbon
  • Thread the ribbon in and out through the holes making this zigzag pattern

  • On cream CS stamp the Books Background with dark brown ink
  • Tear the edges and add to card base
  • Stamp sentiment on velum with Stazon ink
  • Tear edges and add to card base
  • Tie ribbon in bow and glue to velum
Thanks for stopping by and see you next time,
Karen McAlpine

Book Mark Madness

Happy New Year Junkies!!!

The Crafty Nurse here with a post using some of the great new release stamps from January.  When I saw the book themed stamps, the first thing I thought about was creating some fabulous bookmarks.

I used alcohol inks a few different ways.  First I dropped them directly onto the tag then added 91% alcohol on top with a dropper to create great movement.  Then I used the more traditional polished stone technique using the applicator and blending solution then pouncing on the tag.

After applying the ink, I stamped "Books #S644" on a few tags and heat embossed with clear.  I then chose several of the sentiments from "Bookworms #SS054" and stamped those as well.  To finish off I created tassels with bakers twine and metallic thread.  I found a great tutorial on Pinterest on how to make these very quickly.

I hope everyone is enjoying their new year and making time to get your fingers inky.  Also, don't forget, Pat has offered $15% off the January Release stamps until the 8th so stop by the Technique Junkies store and grab up some goodies.

Take care,

Blue Jeans for your Birthday

Happy New Year folks!  It's Beth Norman here with a masculine card for you, using the newly released Blue Jean's stamp.  If you look closely you will see a Cheers! stamp along the seam.  The Cheers! comes from Simple Sentiments 2a set.  Above that, I added a shiny gold brad.

I couldn't resist adding a Happy Birthday leather patch to the jeans, so I pulled out a piece of brown cardstock that looked like leather in colour and then stamped out Happy Birthday in black VersaFine.  The Happy Birthday comes from the Holidays 2 Flourish Sentiments.

I distressed the cardstock in brown ink and then used the Faux Stitching technique from the April 2006 Technique Junkie Newsletter.  The edges of the patch were rounded with my corner rounder.  Finally, I added brown brads to each corner of the patch.

Hopefully you are inspired to use this stamp too.  It makes for a quick masculine card.

Remember, all January released stamps are 15% off until January 8th.

Cheers!

More New January Release Fun!

Greetings my Inky Friends!

Tonya in today and I'm here to show you a couple more of the January Releases!
Remember they are 15% OFF if you order by January 8th!!

I'm going to start with this fun little puppy called Perfect Companions.

It's hard to see the shimmer in the background but I used Perfect Pearls and clear embossing powder in a technique from the Emboss or Die CD! So many fun step-by-step tutorials if you like to heat/dry emboss, use a die cutting machine and so much more!

Next up is this sassy little card to send to your main squeeze!
The SENTIMENT cracked me up and well, I can kinda relate! ;)  I was so happy to have already owned the Fan Girl stamp and thought she fit perfectly with the saying!

For this background, I used alcohol inks and a stencil from the Sensational Stencils CD and then I also ran it through the Big Shot with an embossing folder.

I will see you back here again on the 18th with some more inspiration and Valentine love! In the mean time be sure to check out my PERSONAL BLOG to see what other crafty shenanigans I may be into!  Until then.... {{{Inky Hugs}}} ~Tonya :D

Things I Want To Do

{jane bosi} On the last day of 2015, I cannot think of any better advice that that found in the Technique Junkie stamp set, Things I Want To Do!

I've combined these words of wisdom with one of my most favorite floral images, also from Technique Junkie stamps, Flourished Floral.  I love the eclectic feel of the image and its versatility.  Above, I've watered colored the image with distress inks.  Here, I embossed the image onto a stone tile and then colored with Copic markers:

So many great ways to use it all!!  Have a great, and safe New Years---be sure to visit the Technique Junkie blog tomorrow--New Year, New Stamps and we are hoppin' with inspiration to share with you all!!

Until tomorrow--be awesome!  Jane

Making the New Year Weird

It's nearly time to say cheers to the old year and welcome in the new!

I created this card in true celebratory spirit, just letting the ink drop and drip where it may.  But first, I stamped the sentiment, from SS048 Double Weird Sayings, with Stazon Jet Black ink and scribbled over the top of it with a wax crayon to create a resist.

I stamped the cocktail glass from Palettini PS006 Spirited Bunch with Stazon in Metallic Gold on a separate piece of cardstock, and painted it with the gold shimmer ink to fill my glass.  I adhered this to the cardfront and outlined it with a graphite pencil, smudging the lines to make it stand out more against the background.

So cheers to you! I hope you have some creative time set aside over the New Year weekend.
