Meet Me

The mermaid -  http://techniquejunkies.com/mermaid-on-rock/  -  from the June Technique Junkies Stamps release is so beautiful I had to use her again  I used the Chameleon Colortone Pencils - http://techniquejunkies.com/chameleon-colortone-pencils/   -
to color her in. I also used the pencils to color in the water.  I added a bit of glimmer with a glitter gel pen and smeared the glitter around with my trusty finger tip!  I used a homemade stencil to sponge in the clouds.  And then I decided to a touch of white embossing powder over a tiny bit of glue for the white caps on the waves.   The verse is a Technique Junkies Stamps July release called Sky Touches the Sea -   www.techniquejunkies.com/sky-touches-the-sea/ .  It is heat embossed.

Please remember the newly released Technique Junkies Stamps for July are on sale 15% off through July 8. The discount will be taken off automatically.  And to remind you all other items in the Technique Junkie store  can have a 10% discount if you use the discount code TJ10Judy.

Here are a couple projects from Jeanne to get us started.

My first project uses Part of the Dance

I used a Nuvo Glitter Marker to ink my stamp after stamping in black (love my MISTI for overstamping!) Here is a closer look at the pretty shimmer. My background was made with Ranger Distress Oxide inks.

My next card uses Everything Dandelion and Positive Mind

TJ Inkspirations: A sneak peek and a secret

If you have followed Technique Junkies for a while, you know that we release new stamps every month on the first of the month.  This month is no different - but since it is June 30, I thought I would give you a little peek into tomorrow's release and blog hop!

Earlier this week someone mentioned something to me that I found a little disconcerting.  They said that "no-one buys the brown Distress Oxide Inks."  While that is not strictly true, I personally think its a little sad. The brown inks (Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo) produce a pretty cool effect, and it is a shame that they are overlooked.  With 12 new colors of Distress Oxide Inks ready to come out in the next few weeks, I thought it might be time to give the browns their due. That's what today's tutorial is about. And the sneak peek doesn't hurt either!

Here is a link list of the stamps and ink used in today's tutorial:

and for the Second sneak peek, below:
Palm Collage
Watermelon Set
Seagrass Mat in Distress Oxide Browns

This card uses two of the July stamps - Seagrass Mat and Joy and Laughter. The Distress Oxide browns were used to color the mat background. It was simple to do, but the matte, almost-chalky
look of the Oxide inks is exquisite in person.

Here's how it was done:

Ink the stamp with Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink. Stamp on white cardstock.

Using a blending tool, apply Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink to the card stock, coloring it somewhat unevenly.

Apply the ink heaviest around the edges.

The Joy and Laughter stamp was colored using Pastel Pencils.  Isn't she glorious? It just makes me happy to look at this stamp.

Mermaids

Good Morning!

It's Chris here today, and I am sharing two cards featuring the new June stamps  Mermaid on Rock and Wild Sea Air.

This example was stamped with Antique Linen Distress ink and no-line watercolored with Prima watercolors with the added shimmer in the tail added with Daniel Smith Luminescent Pearlescent Shimmer watercolor. The Wild Sea Air sentiment is double stamped with my MISTI with black Versafine ink.

I used the same two stamps for this card.  The background for this card was created by with a Ranger ink blending sponge with Cracked Pistachio and broken China Ranger Distress Oxide Inks on a piece of Strathmore Smooth Bristol paper.  I used a separate piece of card stock to mask off and ink sections at a time to create the illusion of the sun's rays filtering through the water.  Water droplets were spritzed on the panel to reactivate and lift the ink.  I used an absorbent paper towel to absorb away the lifted ink to create the tiny bubbles.

The Mermaid on Rock image was double stamped on an XPress It blending card in Memento Tuxedo Black ink using my MISTI, and was colored with Copic markers. A light coat of clear shiny glitter was applied over the mermaid with a Glitter Brush pen.  The image was hand-trimmed out with scissors, partially cutting the along the tail, so it could be lifted away from the rock.

The card was assembled with a piece of actual extra-fine grit sandpaper.  The sand paper was torn by hand and slid underneath the tail of the mermaid and adhered.  This was then adhered to the inked panel, and the panel adhered to a prepared A2 white heavyweight card base.  The excess sandpaper was trimmed with scissors along the edges of the card base.

The sentiment was added last. It was again double-stamped using my MISTI for a crisp black impression.

Until next time, happy stamping!

THOUGHTS OF YOU BRING ME JOY

Hey Junkies!

I am in love with the Here We Go Round in Circles stamp set...so I can't stop using it. For this card I combined it with Lollipop Flowers and used a sentiment from Sentimental Sayings.

After stamping I used some acrylic paint I'd sprayed with water to dilute it a bit and splattered it across the panel for additional dimension and detail.

Such an easy card to create and who doesn't like easy?

I hope you've found some inspiration here.

So, that's it for me today.  I hope you find some inspiration and get your craft on....it's fun there!

REMINDER:  I have a coupon for you if you'd like to get a 10% discount on all TJ stamps (excluding the June release stamps).  Just use it at check out and enjoy your purchase.

INVITE:  We have a FB page....we'd love you to join.
INVITE:  We have a new challenge...we'd love you to play along!

AND HANG ON TO YOUR HAT....THE JULY STAMP RELEASE IS COMING UP AND ALL THE DESIGN TEAM WILL BE HAVING A BLOG HOP TO SHOW THEM OFF ON JULY 1ST!
