Hey, Stampers! It's Ro here today to share a quick and colorful card with you. I am loving this Live in Color Stamp. It is so fun to color and you can make it as colorful or as subtle as you wish. For this one, I chose bright colors and a bit of twinkle!
To start, I stamped an oldie-but-goodie for the background. I used Feathers (S509) stamped with Inkon3 Fadeout Ink. I'm digging how this gives such a subtle background, which is perfect for the bright feather. I didn't want anything to battle it for attention.
I used a blow pen to add just a touch of color. I then trimmed down the piece and mounted it to the card base along with a blue panel. I stamped Live in Color (SD929) two times...once on the background panel, and once on a scrap piece of cardstock. I wanted to cut out the colored feather and pop it up a bit with foam squares.I used Kaisercraft Gel Pens to color in the image and add a bit of sparkle to the sentiment as well. These pens are pretty amazing, in my book. They go on so smooth and there are so many colors and styles from which to choose (glitter, metallic, neon and pastel). Here is a close-up of the feather. I was actually able to capture the glittery shine.
After I assembled the card, I added a pretty feather behind the image for a little contrast and interest.
I hope you found a little inspiration today and a bit of color to brighten your world. If you like these products, you can save 10% on your order any time of the month by adding the code "TJ10Ro" at checkout. Cool, eh?

Something Beautiful
I wanted to take myself out of my comfort zone a bit so I decided to make this card in a mixed media style. I used acrylic paints and a credit card to make both the background and the floral panel.
In my Misti, I started with the floral panel, stamping using Versa Fine ink on Acrylic paper. I made a couple passes with the ink, but as this is a heavily textured paper, the centre of the flowers did not completely cover. So I painted in the area with my Nuvo Aqua Flow Pen in Obsidian Black.
I then heat embossed the panel using clear embossing powder.
Using Vicki Boutin Acrylic Paints and a credit card I applied the paint, then rubbed the panel with a paper towel to get a blend. As the acrylic paint lightens the black areas I once again stamped the image with the Versa Fine ink, coloured in the flower centres with the Nuvo pen and heat embossed with the clear embossing powder.
I did not have any card stock that would suit the background for my panels, so I did the same technique with the credit card, applying first a layer of the lighter paint, then the darker, as I wanted more of the dark to be the background. Using my Cut-Align ruler I measured the panels and cut with my Fiskar's Craft Knife. I then went over the floral panels with a thin layer of Micro Glaze.
To finish my card I attached the background panel to my black card base. I matted the floral panels with the black card stock and using my Cut-Align ruler measured for placement of each of the panels. In my Mini Misti I stamped the sentiment and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. Before attaching it to the card I splattered with Nuvo Midas Touch Aqua Shimmer, then attached the sentiment using foam squares.

Stop and Smell the Flowers
My plan for today was to create a card for two challenges ... The Paper Players Clean & Simple Plants Challenge and the CAS on Friday Polka Dot Challenge.
Remember, you can use my discount code TJ10Stephanie for 10% off any products in the Technique Junkies Store.
For my plant, I chose the gorgeous Dahlias stamp. For my polka dots, I used the Circles Make Circles Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. I used my Life Changing Blender Brushes for my stencil, and while I love the effect, I believe the polka dots a bit too heavy to be considered Clean & Simple on my first card.
For my second card, I only stamped my Dahlia once with my MISTI and used a lighter green for the stencil and lessened the amount of polka dots. I used my Cut-Align for my Stop and Smell the Flowers sentiment banners.

Ruffle your Feathers
Hello fellow stampers! How do you like my five hour card? Yup, five hours to make this card. I knew that I wanted a rustic look, and the planning took so many hours to do, replacing idea after idea, until I finally found the right combination of stamps, embossing powder and colours. Please tell me you find yourself in the same position as me. I can't be the only one to spend so many hours planning out a card.
This stamp, called Ruffle your Feathers, is a new release for Technique Junkies for the month of May. Don't despair that you missed out on the "new release discount" because you can grab my code TJ10Beth for 10% off of anything in the store, excluding clearance items.
