Where I Intended

I watercolored the Poppy Teapot image, and stamped the greeting Needed to Be on the side.  Then I used Diamond Fade stencil from A Colorful Life Designs with the ink blending brushes to create the background.

Foiled Floral Silhouette

Good morning, Junkies!  It's Holly posting today, and I'm sharing some foiled floral silhouettes with you.  Did you see the new foils in the Technique Junkies store?  They are so much fun to play with!

I stamped the Floral Silhouette1 and a masked off portion of the You Are Old sentiment with Versamark onto some black cardstock.  I covered the stamped images with clear embossing powder and melted it with a heat tool.  Then the fun part began!  I cut some Bright Gold foil to cover the stamped areas and placed it with the foil side UP on my card.  Then I ran it through my heated laminator and carefully peeled the foil off to reveal this great card.

Truth be told, this was my first time playing with foil.  I didn't know what temperature my laminator should be on, so it was a trial and error period until I got the fun bumpy textured look that you see in the card above.  My first five attempts looked like the card on the left below.  My laminator was so hot it melted the embossing powder and the foil completely flat.  There's nothing wrong with that if that is the look you are going for, but you can see how it spread out the letters in the sentiment and made it unreadable.  So I turned the temperature down in small increments until I got this gilded, textured look on the right side.  Pat made a video on using the foils HERE if you'd like to watch it.

Go check out all the colors of foil in the store.  If you're like me, you need them ALL!!  Feel free to use my code, TJ10Holly, to help you save money when you shop at Technique Junkies.  :-)

More March NEW RELEASE Fun-Bandanna Mandalas!

Hello everyone!

It's Carmen and it's my turn to feature one of our new release stamps for March!

Bandannas! I LOVE this stamp!

I was a little intimidated because it was so bold and gorgeous that I knew I wanted to make it shine by itself but couldn't figure out what to do with it. Then, I remembered a cool technique I learned from watching a youtube video from many months ago. For the LIFE of me I can't find it again...I had to use a small canvas I'd made as a guide. But all you need are the following:

1-A regular pencil (with an unused eraser)
2-A fat pencil with an unused eraser (think pencils for kids beginning to write)
3-Small, round dowel (I used a 1/8)
4-A tiny tool to make a dot. I used a flower shaping tool but you can use a stylus
5-Acrylic Paint and some metallic paint

I stamped the image in black on some hot pink cardstock. Then, I simply started dotting. When I finished dotting, I dotted inside the dotting!

There was a LOT of dotting going on here, people.

But I really loved the effect. And it truly is VERY easy. Once you do the first one, it's a cakewalk after. I PROMISE!

I ALSO promise to give you 10% off this stamp purchase or ANYTHING you purchase at Technique Junkies! Just type in TJCarmen10 in the coupon code when you checkout and it's all yours, baby!

Go ahead...try the mandala art! You'll be shocked at how good you are on your FIRST attempt! That's another promise!

Enjoy stamping!

Prison Orange

Hello!
I have a sweet card to share with you today. It's my day to post on the Technique Junkies Design blog, and wanted to feature three fun stamps, 'Delicate Wildflowers', 'Prison Orange', and 'Bad Decisions', from the March new releases.

The Delicate Wildflowers was stamped in orange ink, on an orange card base.

Next, I stamped 'Bad Decisions' in Black ink. I stamped this image again in orange ink, then fussy cut the gal's pretty dress and adhered it over top of the black stamped image.

Last, the sentiment was too large to go into the space on my coffee cup, so I masked off the 'because prison orange is not my color', and inked only the word 'coffee' on the cup piece. I removed the mask, and stamped. After doing that, I masked off the word 'coffee', and inked the remainder of the sentiment in black ink. I removed the mask from the word 'coffee', and stamped the sentiment. Some black matting finished up the focal panels nicely.

You can save 10% on any order by entering TJ10Patti at checkout!!!

Sometimes, we just want to send someone special a fun card. I think I know a coffee addict that this will be mailed to very soon!

Now, be sure to head over to the Technique Junkies store and check out the incredible new stamps this month!

Thanks for stopping by,
