Foiling Game Changer!

 Hello Junkies!

It is Chris popping on today to share some exciting news! Foiling is a huge trend in stamping. I love the look but I wasn't excited about purchasing a bunch more dies. I found WoW bonding powder. I thought it would be awesome to try. The powder is really fine. Finer than most embossing powder. Check out the results in this video. Look out world... I can foil any of my stamps! I particularly enjoy working with the new Shining Star Stencil, and that is what our tutorial today is al about. The video below shows you how to ink an Ombre background, then use the stencil with 2 different mediums to create stunning cards.

Before we begin, let me just remind you that the New October Release stamps and Stencils are 15% off through October 2020. Make sure you take advantage of the discount!

Here is the Shining Star Stencil that we are working with:

TJ Inspiration: Distressed Foil with no Heat -- and a kit, too!

I had this simple technique rolling around in my head this week, and it was time to commit that idea to pictures. I love how it turned out!
Distressed Foil Paw Prints

Today we are using a Stencil, Therm O Web Transfer Gel Duo and Heat Transfer Foil with a Big Shot (no heat!) to create a shiny distressed effect. I like how it turned out so much that I created two little kits for you so that you can make these fun cards, too!

Before I show you the kits, I realize that not everyone has a cat or dog, so the kit may not be good for all of you. To compensate for this, you can take 25% off ALL foils in the foil category until June 8th by using the code FOIL25 as a coupon code (retail sales only, please!).

So here are the kits that are dog and cat themed:

Before I get to the video, here are the cards from the kits:

I hope you have as much fun with this technique as I did!

TJ Inkspirations: Foiled Ink Resist

Several weeks ago I introduced you to the Heidi Swapp Toner Ink Kit, where I unboxed and demonstrated how to use the kit. In that process I made a giant stack of foiled pieces. I recently unburied them from my hoarder-ish stamp desk and started playing with them. I am so happy to share the results of how foiled pieces resist ink!

I created a short video on the process, but here is the actual artwork from the video:
Foiled and Inked Peacock Feathers
I also added more foil to our store, bringing the total to a whopping 21 different colors and styles. We have so many pretty Hologram-style foils, more colors, and more fun! You can find them all in the Foil category, HERE. And to top it off, you can take 20% off all in-stock foil with the coupon code: Foil20 .That coupon will work through April 30th.

I am bummed out that the Heidi Swapp Toner Ink Kit will not be back in stock from my supplier until JUNE.  I have a boatload on order, though, and will take pre-orders until they come in. You can use the sale Foil20 coupon code to take 20% off your pre-ordered kit, too!  If you order the kit plus any other in-stock item in the store, your order will not be held up - the items will ship separately

Okay, now for the fun part! Watch as I use ink with a foiled resist. Here is  the video:

Foiled Floral Silhouette

Good morning, Junkies!  It's Holly posting today, and I'm sharing some foiled floral silhouettes with you.  Did you see the new foils in the Technique Junkies store?  They are so much fun to play with!

I stamped the Floral Silhouette1 and a masked off portion of the You Are Old sentiment with Versamark onto some black cardstock.  I covered the stamped images with clear embossing powder and melted it with a heat tool.  Then the fun part began!  I cut some Bright Gold foil to cover the stamped areas and placed it with the foil side UP on my card.  Then I ran it through my heated laminator and carefully peeled the foil off to reveal this great card.

Truth be told, this was my first time playing with foil.  I didn't know what temperature my laminator should be on, so it was a trial and error period until I got the fun bumpy textured look that you see in the card above.  My first five attempts looked like the card on the left below.  My laminator was so hot it melted the embossing powder and the foil completely flat.  There's nothing wrong with that if that is the look you are going for, but you can see how it spread out the letters in the sentiment and made it unreadable.  So I turned the temperature down in small increments until I got this gilded, textured look on the right side.  Pat made a video on using the foils HERE if you'd like to watch it.

Go check out all the colors of foil in the store.  If you're like me, you need them ALL!!  Feel free to use my code, TJ10Holly, to help you save money when you shop at Technique Junkies.  :-)

TJ Inkspiration: Foils with and without Lamination

I am so excited about today's video. First and foremost because I have the great pleasure of announcing the addition of our graphics-quality Heat Transfer Foil to the Technique Junkies product line-up.

Our foil comes in 10 gorgeous colors. Each roll is a whopping 4" x 25' (that is 25 FEET, not inches), and can make up to 50 card backgrounds from one roll! Check out the store to see our initial color selection.

BUT - don't let the name fool you. Even though this foil is a Heat Transfer foil, you can also use it for non-heat applications.  In today's video, I show you how to do just that! Today's video shows you how to use Heat Transfer Foil with stencils using both a Laminator AND just a die cut machine (I used my Big Shot) with ThermoWeb's new Transfer Gel DUO (also in the store). Of course, you can always use toner products with our foil, too!

I hope you love these as much as I do!
